The Obama administration has few tools available to take action against violence in video games and entertainment content, attorneys say. This week, Vice President Joe Biden and other administration officials held meetings with entertainment trade association chiefs and video game industry representatives, among other industry groups and stakeholders, to discuss curbing gun violence in the United States after the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in December. Following the meetings, Biden is poised to deliver policy recommendations on gun violence to President Obama on

Thats only because he doesn´t want to go there.
This is all about gun grabbing.

I´ll be surprised if anything in the report covers mental health (since all of the shooters had problems) but of course its the guns fault.

Issue an Executive Order to shut down the power grid, but then I guess he is already doing that with his energy policies.

Not true. Since at the time of the Constitution, the press consisted of manually printed handbills, short pamphlets, and hand written letters certainly the founding fathers intended these and no others be protected by the First Amendment. Therefore, there is no controlling legal authority to prevent the termination of all broadcasts or mass-produced media. And since there is no "media" QED there is no violence in media. Easy peasy.

No tools to put curbs on the entertainment industry, but tools to void the 2nd amendment! Who would have thought?

I am waiting for his highness to monitor the emails we send. Actually that would keep him busy but on the other hand, he would just increase the government employees list at high salaries. Lie, spend money and ignore the Constitution - dem motto.

On Real News on Blaze channel yesterday, Biden asked Pastors to preach gun control from the pulpit. I haven´t got a link, will have to find a video from show, I know it was at the last segment. I got so angry actually forgot name of person interviewed via phone.

Further, it´s not even part of the equation. Violence in the media has nothing to do with disarming Americans so the tyrant in chief can complete his agenda.

Reply 10 - Posted by: GreatGreyhounds, 1/12/2013 7:32:39 PM     (No. 9113278)

Sure he can! An Executive Order demanding that all bloggers and comments on web sites have the users real name and address registered with the Federal Government. Unless you work for the MSM.

Reply 11 - Posted by: Achilles, 1/12/2013 7:55:42 PM     (No. 9113302)

It really does not matter how matter "tools" they dream up. The fact is, the first amendment protects violent video games and entertainment. There goes that pesky constitutional thing again!

Reply 12 - Posted by: bighambone, 1/12/2013 7:55:50 PM     (No. 9113303)

Obama is not going to mess with the movie, television, and video game industries that put out a huge amount of violent content in their movies, TV shows, and video games as they are mostly all liberal Democrat supporters.

Obama and the liberal Democrats will attempt to ban as many semi-automatic handguns and rifles as possible that the liberal Democrats have decided to define as being "assault weapons" because the are produced and sold by the US small arms and related industries, that are conservative oriented businesses aligned mostly with the Republicans.

what a fool. the only power a president has in this regard is the power of persuasion. 0bama and the dimms gets too much money from Hollywood to ask them to give up $$ made from violence.

Not true, he has plenty of "tools"; they are sitting in his cabinet.

Reply 17 - Posted by: nonsense, 1/12/2013 9:31:10 PM     (No. 9113376)

He wants to grab your guns, yet he has no idea how to influence the violence in video games, not to mention the violence in the films his Hollyweird friends make. Disgusting.

Python hunter finds mystery
gold pendant deep in the

A man who was searching for pythons discovered a piece of actual treasure instead. Mark Rubenstein was taking part in the Florida state-wide python killing competition when he discovered a gold pendant adorned with diamonds and sapphires. Mr Rubenstein found the piece of jewellery in the Everglades in February, and because of the location of the discovery, he believes that it landed in the swamp in the wreckage of a fatal plane crash. Though the Florida coast has been the site of many shipwrecks in the past, this find is not thought to be a remnant of the Spanish era

A Farmers´ Rebellion Lifts
the California GOP

Democrats were writing obituaries for California´s GOP after winning a supermajority in the state legislature last November, thus gaining veto-proof power to raise taxes. But their legislative lock may have slipped after this week´s special election in which Republican farmer Andy Vidak appears to have defeated a Democrat—in a heavily Democratic senate district—who had championed high-speed rail and a higher minimum wage. If Mr. Vidak wins an outright majority—late Friday, he led with 49.8% of the vote and provisional ballots were still being counted—his victory would put Republicans two senate seats short of reclaiming their veto on tax hikes.

As George W. Bush rides with

CRAWFORD —Former President George W. Bush needed little help to blaze a trail Friday for 14 veterans mountain biking with him through open prairies, slick ravines and steep canyons. That’s because he brought the third annual Warrior 100K Ride — a three-day mountain biking trek to honor service members injured in Afghanistan and Iraq — to the well-worn paths at his Prairie Chapel Ranch outside of Waco. But even as Bush welcomed the wounded warriors to his home to thank them for their service, he made clear that his mission to help veterans extends well beyond the trails

Every Memorial Day, when I run into the grocery store to pick up those last minute items for the three day weekend’s picnic, I’m met with members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) selling their poppies. We cherish, too, the poppy red/ that grows on fields where valor led; It seems to signal to the skies/that blood of heroes never dies-- “We Shall Keep the Faith” by Moina Michael -I remember as a kid that it was very common to see paper poppies being sold around Memorial Day. You could even go to the post office and purchase one

Michelle Obama certainly knows how to work a room! In this case, it was a kindergarten classroom at Savoy Elementary School in Washington D.C., where the patrons were, well, pint-size. The first lady paid a visit to the youngsters, brightening their day with some silly dance moves performed in unison and imparting an important message about hard work and perseverance.Awww. According to the Huffington Post, Obama encouraged the kiddos to "try new things and not be afraid to fail, because we have all failed," and referenced Kerry Washington (also in the audience),

Conservative radio host Mark Levin is very skeptical of the idea that President Obama had absolutely no idea about the IRS tea party targeting before the story broke in the news mere weeks ago. Levin declared adamantly that it is a “flat-out, bald-faced lie” that Obama didn’t know beforehand, citing prior reports by a few conservative news outlets picking up on the news well before the 2012 presidential election. Levin said, “I don’t believe for two seconds that Obama wasn’t aware of this.”

President Obama on Thursday nominated Victoria Nuland, a State Department official involved in the editing of the administration´s talking points on Benghazi, to be the next assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs. Nuland, a career foreign service officer who was until recently State´s top spokesperson, had long been expected to be nominated the post to replace Philip Gordon, who Obama picked to serve as Middle East coordinator for the National Security Council. Nuland´s nomination -- which requires Senate confirmation -- could come under scrutiny from Republicans who see her as playing a central role in shaping

Anthony Weiner’s New York mayoral candidacy was only made more improbable today after he revealed that he visited a Houston psychiatric facility following his resignation from Congress in 2011. Haunted by scandal surrounding his sexually explicit online communications with women, the Democratic former congressman sought treatment for his compulsive behavior from mental health professionals at the Gabbard Center. According to its website, the facility provides “3-day outpatient psychiatric evaluation,” particularly to “professionals who are in personal or professional crises.” While Weiner did not disclose

MARK LEVIN: So why didn´t Chairman Issa hold an investigative hearing a year ago? Why didn´t Chairman Camp, all Republicans, hold an investigative hearing a year ago, and all the other tripping over themselves right now? I´ll tell you why. Because the establishment Republicans, the RINO Republicans, despise the Tea Party. They despise the conservative movement. We exist to be managed, to be shuttled to the polling place, to vote for their candidates. The Karl Roves of the world, and all the rest of them. They fight us in the primaries, they fight us at the grassroots.

On Wednesday, Drummer Lee Rigby of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, a man who had served Queen and country honorably in the hell of Helmand Province in Afghanistan, emerged from his barracks on Wellington Street, named after the Duke thereof, in southeast London. Minutes later, he was hacked to death in broad daylight and in full view of onlookers by two men with machetes who crowed "Allahu Akbar!" as they dumped his carcass in the middle of the street like so much roadkill. As grotesque as this act of savagery was, the aftermath was even more unsettling

Fox News chief Roger Ailes has sent a memo to his subordinates at the leading cable news network. He sent this memo to his staff today in connection with the federal investigation into an alleged leak to Fox News reporter James Rosen, a story that the Washington Post’s Ann E. Marimow broke earlier this week. The memo’s a masterpiece, too. For all those who wonder what it is about Ailes that endears his people to him — and that makes him such a good interviewee for any media reporter lucky enough to get an audience
