FLINT - A federal judge has sentenced a Flint store owner to four years, three months in prison for participating in a $612,000 food stamp fraud scheme. (Snip) McQuade says Fofana, the owner of Mandingo African Market, redeemed more than $750,000 in food stamp benefits from February 2009 to July 2011, approximately $612,000 of which was obtained utilizing fraudulent “food stamps-for-cash” exchanges. State officials calculated that during that same time period, Mandingo’s average food stamp redemption amount was $26,798 per month — compared to an average of $5,479 monthly redemption for

Fofana from the Mandingo African Market?

Rather exotic sounding ... I can hear the drums in the background ...

It´s good that they caught this enabler, but it´s too bad they couldn´t catch all the parasites making the deals with him. The government should set up a few stings in Detroit but they won´t. They would catch too many democratic voters with Obama phones.

I´m really getting tired of paying for all this larceny that this government is promoting.

They know who are the food stamp recipients are from the card numbers that this guy fraudulently submitted to cash out. It´s been 50 cents on the dollar now for a very long time. It´s easy for them to figure out how much of their food stamp card allowance each one of those food stamp recipients sold. It´s too much hassle for them to prosecute 1,000 or so Obama phone holders, so they just prosecute the main perpetrators included in the conspiracy indictment. That keeps this charade going, and they are probably already working on the next case with new perpetrators, and a lot of the same old food stamp recipients making money off their food stamp cards knowing they will never be prosecuted.

Many years ago, I worked at an Aldi Food Store. A lady wanted to use food stamps to buy a fry pan. She could not understand that I said ´no.´

As #5 noted, this is happening in every city - and it is not a coincidence that there is a rapper who calls himself 50 cent.
That´s a big joke in the ghetto...

The sentence is a disgrace too. The four years, three months will be pared down to less than half that once the lawyers finish up.

Why such a short sentence, that comes to $125,00 ayear plus now he has free health care
exercise yards and a lot of "bro´s" to teach him new scams. Prison will be a finishing school for him.

Michelle Obama visited the slave quarters at Decatur House — a red-brick structure that sits in the shadow of the White House — that once housed the black men and women who served 19th century politicians, military and business leaders who lived in the property. The first lady, who is the nation’s only first lady to have descended from people held in slavery, made the stop as part of an announcement that the historic Decatur House

BUFFALO — A western New York man has pleaded guilty to filing more than 100 tax returns under the names of people who had recently died. The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Buffalo says 42-year-old John Berry Jr. of Dunkirk pleaded guilty Tuesday to making a false claim against the United States. Prosecutors say he filed 122 false income tax returns in 2008 and 2009 seeking refunds totaling $218,000. Authorities say more than $92,000 was deposited directly into his bank account. Berry faces up to five years in prison when he’s sentenced in August.

Two Republican governors are urging President Barack Obama to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate the Internal Revenue Service´s admission that it targeted conservative political groups. Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker call the allegations "Big Brother come to life." They want a special prosecutor to find out if any laws were broken and say Obama should fire any IRS employees responsible for the situation. The IRS has apologized for what it calls "inappropriate" targeting of conservative political groups. The agency targeted groups during the 2010 congressional elections and the 2012 presidential election.

In recent weeks, scandal after scandal has rocked Barack Obama’s administration. His presidency might be imperiled. Or it might not be.(snip)Doubtless, Obama did not want for any of these scandals to come to light. Now that they’ve arisen, though, they can be exploited to depict himself as a Washington outsider and his Republican nemeses as “the establishment” that has vowed to destroy him. Potentially, this strategy trades off short-term loss for long-term gain. Again, Alinsky is instructive here: “If by losing in a certain action” the organizer “can get more members than by winning

America should end its intervention in Syria or shift its support to President Bashir Assad. Iraq-based al Qaeda militants now control the rebellion. The Obama administration has an enemies list, and John Dodson was on it. The special agent for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) infuriated his superiors by alerting Congress and everyone else about the government’s gunrunning scheme called Fast and Furious. He had to pay for his act of good citizenship. The Justice Department’s inspector general concluded Monday that a high-ranking political appointee destroyed Mr. Dodson’s credibility and ruined a career. Former Rep. The dam protecting the IRS scandal began to crack today when Lois Lerner, the IRS official who announced, and apologized for, the improper singling out of conservative-leaning organizations by IRS employees under her command, announced through her criminal defense lawyer that she will not testify as scheduled tomorrow before the House Oversight Committee. Rather, she will assert her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. This marks an enormous milestone in the IRS investigation. It can now be taken as more or less established that crimes were committed by Obama administration employees. Lerner’s lawyer tried to minimize the significance

When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.
