| History came alive in the classrooms of Montclair High School. More than a dozen students in the school´s Civics and Government Institute put on costumes and wigs as they tried to capture the look of famed social activists they were portraying in CGI´s annual social reform panel. As part of their U.S. History and Literature curriculum, teens in CGI are assigned to study an American reformer or revolutionary. The students research the individuals, dress like them, and come to the evening panel to represent them before an audience of faculty, parents, classmates and community members.
|
Comments: The winning costumes included Cesar Chavez, Nicholas Kristof, Gloria Steinem, Woody Guthrie, Rachel Carson and Saul Alinsky. And the indoctrination continues . .

Jesus was an historical figure, would they be able to impersonate him?

Rachel Carson is indirectly responsible for up to two million deaths from malaria in sub-Sahara Africa. She and her liberal cohorts instituted the banning of DDT, the most effect mosquito deterrent. They used false claims. There is 5,000 pages of testimony in a Wisconsin court which proves DDT is not a carcinogenic. Carson later refuted her information and died of cancer from another source, probably global warming.

It´s easier to understand what´s going on here if you keep in mind that most of the New York Times reporters and editors live in Montclair,N.J.

Hillary Clinton´s return to the living was almost flawless. Almost. She unveiled her Twitter account (young and with-it), and referred knowingly to the pantsuit (mature and self-aware). She didn´t look tan (that would be too "Real Housewives of New Jersey") but seemed rested (that´s what almost six months of downtime will do for you) and ready (returning to her animating issues of girls and early childhood through her Too Small to Fail initiative). She picked a rocking photo (dark shades, in the bulkhead seat of her secretary of state airplane, thumbing her BlackBerry).

President Barack Obama raised the prospect Wednesday that Europe might need to adjust its economic policies to tackle high youth unemployment and make sure that some countries don´t "lose a generation." Obama warned during his visit to Berlin that, while he was confident the euro area´s leaders will resolve their debt crisis, austerity and structural reforms must not cause policymakers to lose sight of the main goal: Improving people´s lives. Unemployment in the group of 17 European Union countries that use the euro, which is stuck in recession, has shot up to a record 12.2 percent.

Officially, the U.S. Government does not negotiate with terrorists (except for those occasions when it holds formal talks with them). Such is the case for the Afghan Taliban, which was declared a FTO (Foreign Terrorist Organization) by U.S. President George W. Bush. This week Obama Administration officials are meeting in Doha, Qatar with their “respected” adversaries in face to face peace negotiations. U.S. diplomats, eager to legitimize the Taliban, have agreed that the Taliban can open an embassy of sorts in Qatar. The war against the Taliban has been a trillion-dollar, decade-long, colossal failure.

MICHELLE Obama dazzled Dublin with her grace and charm, and almost outshone her husband in Belfast with her eloquence, sounding every inch the professional politician. And that is exactly what could be on the cards for her.(snip)She would be a formidable candidate. A lawyer and an intellectual powerhouse, who excelled at Princeton and Harvard Law School, she first met her husband when she mentored him at a Chicago law firm. She lacks political experience. But so did another first lady before she went on to become a US senator for New York. Hillary Clinton has already blazed the trail

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie says he´ll "probably" make a decision about running for president sometime in 2015. The Republican, who is seeking a second term in November as governor, has taken heat recently for appearances with President Obama and former President Bill Clinton. Christie said on MSNBC´s Morning Joe program that he´s not concerned with how appearances with high-profile democrats might affect his political future. "My job is to do my job," Christie said, as he defended his appearance last week at the Clinton Global Initiative

James O´Keefe is back to muckraking, with a new book and fresh "Obamaphone" scandal as the "Ashton Kutcher of the Conservative movement" reaffirms his commitment to guerilla journalism. Having paid his debt to society after his 2010 arrest, he is now ready to pick up where he left off in his crusade to expose corruption in the halls of power, beginning with footage that shows shady practices in the government-subsidized cellphone program. On Monday night, family, friends from his Rutgers days and members of Team O´Keefe squeezed into a club in West SoHo

Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) has signed her name to an effort to draft Hillary Clinton into the 2016 presidential race, becoming the first sitting member of Congress to do so. The Ready for Hillary super PAC announced McCaskill as its latest big-name supporter on Tuesday morning. McCaskill in 2008 supported President Obama over Clinton in the primary, but said earlier this year that she hopes Clinton will run again. “Hillary Clinton had to give up her political operation while she was making us proud, representing us around the world as an incredible

A group of whistleblowers, including a number of aviation experts, have come forward in a new documentary to claim that the official explanation for the crash of TWA Flight 800 was wrong and a gas tank explosion did not bring down the flight off the coast of Long Island 17 years ago. However, the six whistleblowers, all part of the original investigation team, stopped short of saying the plane was shot down. Flight 800, a Boeing 747, had just taken off from JFK airport with 230 people aboard on July 17, 1996 enroute to Paris when it exploded

An attorney whose firm represents two Benghazi whistleblowers said Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, lied to the Senate when he said there was never a “stand down” order during the Benghazi attack on Sept. 11, 2012. “What was fascinating is that he explained his lie to them,” Joe DiGenova, an attorney representing one of the whistleblowers, told CNSNews.com. “He actually said they were sent to Tripoli. They were needed in Benghazi,” said DiGenova, a former U.S. attorney, now with the Washington firm of DiGenova & Toensing.

Likening religious schools to segregation--a racist system that forced blacks to attend different schools and use different facilities than whites in the American South--President Barack Obama told a town hall meeting for youth in Belfast, Northern Ireland on Monday that there should not be Catholic and Protestant schools because such schools cause division. "Because issues like segregated schools and housing, lack of jobs and opportunity--symbols of history that are a source of pride for some and pain for others--these are not tangential to peace; they’re essential to it,"

Amid a steady rise of backlash, Edward Snowden, the 29-year-old former National Security Agency contractor who was the source of a spring of leaks about the agency´s surveillance methods, conducted a live chat on The Guardian´s website Monday morning. Judging from some of the pointed questions he´s been asked and the reaction to newly leaked revelations over the past few days, it´s clear that much of the sympathy and support Snowden had built up for his early exposures is eroding. Many Americans supported his decision to leak information about a pair of National Security Agency surveillance programs, which, he detailed, gathered information

Listening to Barack Obama give his speech in Belfast on Monday, it was hard not to stifle a yawn. I kept waiting for the part when he would say something interesting, but, about three quarters of the way through, realised it wasn’t going to come. Judging from television pictures some of his young audience felt the same, after the initial rush of euphoria of receiving the rock star president in their midst had passed. This is not surprising, for we had already heard this number about the inspirational role of the Northern Ireland peace process and the Emerald Isle’s

This is the thirtieth anniversary of the publication of How Democracies Perish, an analysis of the spread of world communism by Jean-François Revel, one of freedom´s most serious French defenders since Tocqueville. At the heart of this work, Revel details "The Tools of Communist Expansion," among which the most relevant for understanding our current situation comes in Chapter 16, "Ideological Warfare and Disinformation." The profound simplicity of Revel´s nuts and bolts account of totalitarianism´s Cold War advance, far from being obsolete

Celebrity chef Paula Deen admitted in a recorded deposition to telling racist jokes, using the N-word, and planning a slavery-themed wedding, according to multiple reports. The May 17 deposition where she made the alleged admissions is part of a $1.2 million lawsuit brought by Lisa Jackson, the former manager of a Savannah, Georgia, restaurant run by Deen and her brother Bubba Hiers. Jackson alleges in the suit that Deen used the N-word at the restaurant and that Hiers sexually harassed her. According to the reports, in the deposition, Deen replied “Yes, of course,”
