| Defense secretary nominee Chuck Hagel’s Atlantic Council predicted that Iran will one day be a natural partner for the United States and has prepared a roadmap to achieve that partnership. Hagel was named chairman of the nonprofit Atlantic Council just one month after he left the Senate. The Atlantic Council produced a major analytic policy compendium on U.S.-Iranian relations under Hagel’s leadership. Although he did not pen the report, it aligns with Hagel’s positions that the U.S. should engage directly with Iran and scale back economic sanctions. My roadmap for normal relations with Iran:
1) Kill all the Mullahs and Revolutionary Guard.
2) Outlaw Islam.
3) Bring to power the people who demonstrated for democracy a couple of years ago.

State Department Spokeswoman Jen Psaki said she was "not sure" whether the Taliban is designated as a terrorist organization when a reporter pressed her on negotiations between the United States and the Islamist group during Tuesday´s press briefing. These talks come on the heels of the Taliban opening offices in Qatar, allegedly to aid the Afghan government´s progress toward stability without a U.S. presence. The international coalition recently gave primary responsibility for Afghanistan´s security to the country´s army and police. Now the Taliban have opened offices in Qatar to facilitate talks for a political solution.

Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria.
