| ´We must act now" has become the cry — sometimes the scream — heard from politicians on the left a few weeks after the Newtown massacre of 20 schoolchildren and six of their educators. House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, in an interview last week, very tellingly said regarding new gun-control laws, "the safety of our country cannot go as slow as the slowest ship in the House of Representatives or even the United States Senate." Translation: Democrats are determined to bypass the normal, orderly process of congressional hearings and votes by the elected representatives of the American people.

"Yet sensible proposals for armed security and increased police presence at our schools are off President Obama´s agenda."
Because an increased police presence in schools spends money without making it more difficult for severely mentally ill people experiencing psychosis to get their hands on firearms. Sure, arm the schools...and then what about the playgrounds? the soccer fields? the birthday parties? the neighborhood block parties? Would you have everyone in America live in armed camps to avoid the issue - namely, that it is too easy for delusional people to get hold of guns and too hard to get delusional people hospitalized for their own good and for the good of others?
Nobody wants to take guns from law-abiding, mentally stable individuals. Come up with practical solutions to deal with the few who aren´t law-abiding, the few who aren´t mentally stable. Then you bring something worthwhile to the table.

It´s not about safety, it never has been, never will be, except in the minds of the soft-headed useful idiot sheep across the political spectrum who don´t know any better. It´s about power and control, and implementing the leftist agenda that has been on the drawing boards for a long time.
The solution will not be arrived at via the ballot box.

"Obama´s Panicked Gun Control Won´t Solve Gun Violence."
I agree with all those who say it´s not intended to.
Everything Obama does is to agitate and divide. His intention is to sow chaos and anger. He wants to divide this country and turn citizen against citizen.
Whether he´s doing this to grab power, I don´t know. I think it´s simpler than that. He justs wants us all fearful, anxious, demoralized, angry and at each other´s throats. So far, he´s doing a good job of it.

The usually-OK IBD editors make two huge and frankly unforgivable errors.
a. that there´s some magic out there that will really do something effective against lunatics
b. that the law-abiding citizen´s right to self-defense is open for discussion, parsing, and limitation
#1: "Nobody wants to take guns from law-abiding, mentally stable individuals."
Unless it´s: a gun with a bayonet lug; black paint; a folding stock; a 20, 30, whatever-round magazine; is a plain old ordinary semi-auto of many, many types; and so on. No they don´t want to take guns. Nope.
(Point of information for those not familiar with a semi-auto action: a semi-auto [like the magnificent and superlatively-useful M1911-A1 of John Moses Browning] fires one round with each squeeze of the trigger. One squeeze, one bang. Just like a plain-old Wyatt Earp-type six-shootin´ revolver of 1870 or before. One squeeze, one bang. Semi-auto or revolver. So, uhhh....)

Thirty-six weeks. That´s the average time an unemployed American is out of work in the Obama-led economy, according to the latest government data. For anyone who has been jobless for an extended duration of time, nine months seems like an eternity. But, nine months is the norm in the Obama economy. The latest data from the Department of Labor show the nation´s unemployment rate stands at 7.5%. The Obama Administration and Obama backers are quick to point out that this rate is the lowest of his presidency. However, the deeper we dig into the state of the unemployed under Obama,

Now that the low-information/low-knowledge segment of the country is waking up to what conservatives have been pointing out since Barack Obama was first sanctified by the left, we are being treated to the spectacle of a liberal epiphany. How, they ask themselves, could this have happened? How could they have been suckered so completely? After all, liberals/progressives tell us all the time, they are a superior manifestation of the species. They are always right, and their political opponents are always bad people, motivated by ignorance and stupidity at best, and impure designs at least.

RUSH: Folks, we are being told that Lois Lerner´s seemingly out-of-the-blue admission about the IRS tax-exempt waivers was carefully planned. The question that evoked her admission was planted as part of prepared strategy for the IRS to release this information to the public, and that´s according to the outgoing IRS commissioner, Steven Miller. He said it in testimony before the House Ways and Means Committee this morning.

RUSH: I am getting the sense that there is an effervescing rage in the country over what is happening. If you´re watching these hearings today, if you are listening to the media, I hate to say, "I told you so," but the media is circling the wagons around the regime. It was just yesterday and the day before that people eagerly called here and were sending me e-mails, thinking this was it. "The media is finally going to turn on Obama!" I said, "It´s never going to happen, not for real,"

Speaking at Ohio State University this month, Barack Obama urged students to pay no attention to those paranoid types who "incessantly warn of government as nothing more than some separate, sinister entity." Oddly enough, in recent days the most compelling testimony for this view of government has come from the president himself, who insists, with a straight face, that he had no idea that the Internal Revenue Service had spent two years targeting his political enemies until he "learned about it from the same news reports that I think most people learned about this."

Obama administration officials who were in key positions on Sept. 11, 2012, acknowledge that a range of mistakes were made the night of the attacks on the U.S. missions in Benghazi, and in messaging to Congress and the public in the aftermath. The officials spoke to CBS News in a series of interviews and communications under the condition of anonymity so that they could be more frank in their assessments. They do not all agree on the list of mistakes and it's important to note that they universally claim that any errors or missteps did not cost lives and reflect "incompetence rather than malice or cover up.

Watching President Obama trying to dodge raindrops and responsibility yesterday reminded me of the moment when Dorothy pulls back the curtain and discovers that the Wizard of Oz is “just a man.” Stripped of his spell of mystery and power, the wizard is worse than mortal. He’s a fake. So it was with Obama in the Rose Garden. His performance was tired and trite, ordinary to the point of dull. His veneer of passion was so transparent that you could see him trying to summon his old-time magic by pushing the buttons

STANDING BEFORE reporters Thursday, President Obama declined an invitation to compare the recent scandals weighing down his administration with those that forced President Nixon to resign in 1974. So allow us to do the work for him: There is no comparison. Nixon, in a series of crimes that collectively came to be known as Watergate, directed from the White House and Justice Department a concerted campaign against those he perceived as political enemies, in the process subverting the FBI, the IRS, other government agencies and the electoral process to his nefarious purposes. Mr. Obama has done nothing of the kind.

The State Department, under Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton, created an arrangement for her longtime aide and confidante Huma Abedin to work for private clients as a consultant while serving as a top adviser in the department. Ms. Abedin did not disclose the arrangement — or how much income she earned — on her financial report. It requires officials to make public any significant sources of income. An adviser to Mrs. Clinton, Philippe Reines, said that Ms. Abedin was not obligated to do so. The disclosure of the agreement that Ms. Abedin made with the State Department comes as her husband,

In the wake of one of the worst abuses of government power in recent history, many are rushing to frame the Internal Revenue Service scandal as simply an attack on conservative activists. That view risks creating a partisan political football and misses a fundamentally scarier abuse that exceeds the scandals of Watergate or any other prior government abuse. The IRS has admitted that since May 2010 it targeted grassroots-conservative organizations that had applied for tax-exempt status, unfairly subjecting them to rigorous scrutiny due to their political leanings. Such groups were told they were required to comply with IRS requests,

President Obama’s press conference in the rain was not a success, if by success, his supporters would mean an event which convinces anyone who doesn’t work for him that he’s getting ahead of the scandal deluge. The sight of a Marine holding an umbrella over his head only added to the weirdness of the event. So what did we learn? 1. He has full confidence in Attorney General Eric Holder, the man who purportedly recused himself (whenever) without putting it in writing (whatever). When asked about the untrammeled snooping on Associated Press reporters and editors,

The lawmaker leading the charge to investigate the Benghazi terror attack on Friday subpoenaed the co-author of a report that slammed the State Department but didn´t interview Hillary Clinton. House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) formally demanded that retired ambassador Thomas Pickering submit to being deposed by the committee next Thursday. The subpoena comes in the wake of a series of acrimonious public exchanges this week between the two men. Issa didn´t issue a subpoena to former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Michael Mullen, who co-authored the Benghazi report with Pickering.
