President Obama will deliver his State of the Union address to a joint session of Congress on Feb. 12, House Speaker John A. Boehner said Friday. Mr. Boehner extended the official invitation in a letter asking Mr. Obama to lay out plans for the “immense challenges” facing the country. “This will require a willingness to seek common ground as well as presidential leadership. For that reason, the Congress and the nation would welcome an opportunity to hear your plan and specific solutions for addressing America’s great challenges,” Mr. Boehner said. The speech would come just after

February is black history month.

So O has an all white cabinet for his administration.

But but but he will have a black woman give the benediction at his inaugural. That ought to count for something.

While I can truly appreciate the losing position Lincoln was in, I am unwilling to lionize the man as he has been throughout history and in public education.

The man was deeply flawed (as we all were) but also responsible for a very unconstitutional war and the subsequent perversion of the truth that followed it.

His actions against the South had zero to do with civil liberties or slavery and more to do with tax revenue and Federal control over the states...they were tyrannical, to put it mildly.

Question to those brainwashed who believe the civil war was about slavery (Lincolns own writings oppose this position): Why was the US the only country to get rid of slavery through civil war? Most ther countries managed to avoid it....

Lincoln...and I freed the slaves for this outcome?

It is absolutely false revisionist history to claim that the Civil War was not about slavery. Lincoln´s own writings and speeches as a whole - not one or two sentences taken out of context - make this clear. As do most reputable Lincoln scholars - Harold Holzer, Jack Davis, Frank Williams, John Marszalek, Craig Symonds, etc. etc.

#8 read the emancipation of proclamation, you will find it only freed the southern slaves not the northern ones....oh you didn´t know that the north had slaves too!
The civil war was about states rights and the right to succession. The war wasn´t about slavery until the end to change public opinion.
But this tread is about the zero trying to be Lincolnest! playing to the dumbed down americans again, i´ll be washing my socks on that day.

I still can´t understand our empty suited jackenape president´s fascination with all things Lincoln. This dope will be lucky if a naval garbage scowl is named after him. There is an old southern boy saying that certain people are all hat and no cattle. Obama is such a person.

#5 may be joking, but suppose he´s right--that Obama wants to associate himself to Abraham Lincoln to justify the use of force in the event that some states decide to secede. I wouldn´t put anything past him.

Reply 15 - Posted by: Rafter, 1/11/2013 4:49:05 PM     (No. 9111434)

Since the "martyred" Lincoln was deified by the New York Times etc...

Rarely does anyone point out that more than 700,000 died in the secession war...
that´s the latest scholarly revised figure...

And given that our population is now TEN times greater...
(31 million then... 310 million plus now)
That is the modern equivalent of...
SEVEN MILLION dead.

No one talks about it.
A nation torn and devastated for more than a century of hatred and bitterness.
And the proportional equivalent of...
SEVEN MILLION dead.

The secession war was unnecessary.
Lincoln should have pulled out in 1860 and endorsed Buchanan for a second term.
(The southern states announced they would secede if the Republican was elected.)
Buchanan was conciliatory, peace prevailed and no shots were fired. No one died.

But our Leftoid Liberoid academics tell us...
Buchanan was the worst president in U.S. history.
Lincoln was the greatest.
Who´s lying... ?
Honest...
Abe.

So Bammy should speak on Abe´s birthday.

Huma Abedin, former Secretary of State Hillary’s Clinton’s long time aide with extensive ties to Muslim Brotherhood groups, was granted an arrangement by the State Department to do outside consulting work, even as she remained a top advisor in the Department. Abedin did not disclose either the arrangement, or how much she earned from it, on her financial report, despite a requirement that public officials must disclose significant sources of income. Clinton advisor Philippe Reines contended she was under no obligation to do so. Abedin, who has served Clinton for 15 years, became a “special government employee”

A federal judge in Washington ruled in 2010 that the Justice Department was not required by law to notify Fox reporter James Rosen that prosecutors had obtained his emails in connection with an investigation into a leak about North Korean plans to test a nuclear weapon. In September 2010, Chief U.S. District Court Judge Royce Lamberth overruled the conclusion of federal magistrate John Facciola that Rosen—whose Gmail account was searched—was entitled by law to be informed. Prosecutors contended that under the statute used to get Rosen´s emails, the Electronic Communications Privacy Act, they were not

The Department of Justice released a statement moments ago amid reports of the department obtaining a subpoena in order to access Fox News reporter James Rosen´s personal emails. "Leaks of classified information to the press can pose a serious risk of harm to our national security and it is important that we pursue these matters using appropriate law enforcement tools. Such investigations and prosecutions, including this particular case, follow all applicable laws, regulations, and longstanding Department of Justice policies intended to safeguard the First Amendment interests of the press in reporting the news and the public in receiving it."

Michelle Malkin joined Megyn Kelly on Fox News Monday afternoon to discuss the latest developments in the investigation into the IRS targeting conservatives for audits. Malkin insisted it was not merely her “ideology” that has led to critique the Obama administration on their handling of the IRS issue and others, but rather the evidence she’s seen of their “bully brigade tactics” to “intimidate and criminalize their political opponents.” Malkin began by going after White House Press Secretary Jay Carney for his handling of the various Obama “scandals,” saying the “clown Carney press briefings have turned in

Michael Steinbach, former head of the FBI’s counterterrorism division and now special agent in charge of Miami, told over 30 congressional staffers in March of 2012 that, contrary to the White House´s classification, the bureau does not refer to the Fort Hood shooting as "workplace violence." As head of the FBI counterterrorism division, Steinbach oversaw the investigation into the mass murder at Texas Army base. Steinbach made this claim during an unclassified counterterrorism briefing on Capitol Hill. “Do you guys teach your agents that Fort Hood was workplace violence?” one staffer asked.

What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry “offensive.” Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to “move on” and are warning the likes of FNC off:(Snip for video)The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript

But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

WASHINGTON – White House senior adviser Dan Pfeiffer said Sunday Republicans owe Susan Rice, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, an apology for alleging she played a part in formulating the White House’s response to the attacks in Benghazi, Libya, last year that killed four Americans. Pfeiffer said on ABC’s “This Week” that the release of more than 100 pages of Benghazi emails and notes show “beyond a shadow of the doubt” that accusations she tried to change the narrative of what happened in the attacks was false. "And, frankly, I think that many of the Republicans
