| A few days after Second Amendment supporters designated Jan. 19 as "Gun Appreciation Day," people on the other side of the issue are responding with some rallies of their own. One Million Moms for Gun Control announced Friday it will sponsor "several major events" in January to demand "common-sense gun control laws." The group said it will hold a demonstration at City Hall in New York on Monday, Jan. 21 -- which is Inauguration Day and the federal holiday marking Dr. Martin Luther King´s birthday. The goal of the Million Moms´ rally is to "reinforce a message

The irony of the Million Mom March is that while they are protesting gun ownership, Obama will be surrounded by Secret Service agents, each of whom will be armed to the teeth!

I´ll be joining our Patriot / TEA Party group demonstrating in front of our local Gander Mountain store on the 19th here in upstate NY, regardless of the weather! This issue takes precedence over comfort -- think Valley Forge...

A ´million moms´ doesn´t stack up to one 2nd Amendment. No American´s right to self-defense is subject to the approval of *any* other American.
Tough cookies, moms. And of course it goes without saying in today´s society - half a million of those ´moms´ don´t have ´pops´ in their houses, but haven´t those ´statistics´ regarding the success stories of ´America sans fathers´ been great! (not)

Oh - so it IS gun control, not gun violence.
FTA: "Mothers will not rest until there is change," said Shannon Watts, founder of One Million Moms for Gun Control.
Said another way: "We will not rest until we are completely disarmed and unable to defend ourselves and our children!"
And there´s that "change" word again. Change for the sake of change. Lovely.

The Million Morons March. Here we go again. When they get to 100, excluding the usual Code Pink-affiliated crones and related dingbats, wake me.

Dittos #3. Frankly I´m getting very tired of Moms Against (fill in the blank).
Maybe if they spent more time with their anti-social boys in the basement, more would get fixed.
Or maybe, introduce said boys to their fathers. There´s a hint, ladies.

Contest to nickname the Mom march.
How about: -Moms Against Guns (MAGs): they won´t be allowed to march in groups larger than 10
-The BUSHmasters: for obvious reasons
-Gals Looking Out for Cute Kids (GLOCK): they can all wear black poly jump suits

I´d be happier if they each buy a gun and learn to control it. That would go a long way towards ending crime.

The White House’s explanation of what it knew about the investigation into the IRS’s scrutiny of conservative political groups and how it planned for the eventual release of that information shifted once again Tuesday. Just a day after telling reporters that chief of staff Denis McDonough and other senior White House staff learned of the situation nearly a month ago, press secretary Jay Carney revealed Tuesday that White House officials had consulted with the Treasury Department on how to make the findings public.(Snip) Carney said he hadn’t revealed more information about which officials

Douglas Shulman, the former commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service, said today he was “dismayed and saddened” that his agency had improperly targeting conservative groups, but declined to offer a direct apology and dismissed suggestions that he mislead Congress. The testimony from Shulman, who was making his first public appearance since the IRS controversy broke into the open two weeks ago, did not satisfy members of the Senate Finance Committee. He faced more than three hours of stern questioning from Democrats and Republicans, but said “I don’t believe I was aware” when asked

For a "failed scandal," Fast and Furious sure brought out the heavy hitters at the Department of Justice to deal with a whistleblower. The department´s inspector general has released a report accusing one US attorney, Dennis Burke, of leaking a document that smeared John Dodson, a key witness in the Fast and Furious scandal, and accusing other officials in the department of coming up with a strategy to discredit him. Breitbart: The DOJ IG said it found "Burke´s conduct in disclosing the Dodson memorandum to be inappropriate for a Department employee and wholly unbefitting a U.S. Attorney."

Officials in the White House discussed how and when the Internal Revenue Service would tell the public that the agency had targeted political groups, White House press secretary Jay Carney said Tuesday. Carney said that Mark Childress, the White House deputy chief of staff, twice spoke with officials at the Treasury Department about the strategy for revealing conservative targeting. Childress and the Treasury officials discussed the possibility that Lois Lerner, the IRS official who oversaw the agency´s tax-exempt organization, would reveal that an inspector general´s investigation had found

Tiger Woods and Sergio Garcia can finally agree on something. "He called me a whiner. He´s probably right," Garcia told Golf.com on Monday at the start of the week of the BMW PGA Championship in England. "But that´s also probably the first thing he´s told you guys that´s true in 15 years. I know what he´s like. You guys are finding out." On the same day that Tiger Woods uttered one word -- "No" -- to quickly dismiss the possibility of making amends over the pair´s verbal sparring during the Players Championship, the Spaniard kept swinging at

A federal court in San Francisco Tuesday struck down Arizona´s ban on abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the law violates a string of U.S. Supreme Court rulings starting with Roe v. Wade that guarantees a woman´s right to an abortion before a fetus is able to survive outside the womb. That´s generally considered to be about 24 weeks. Normal pregnancies run about 40 weeks. Several states have enacted similar bans starting at 20 weeks. But the 9th Circuit´s ruling is binding only in the nine Western states

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

PRESIDENT OBAMA: You are the mantle of Frederick Douglass and Booker T. The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd. Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee Wednesday.

The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”

A senior adviser to President Obama mounted a combative defense of the administration on Sunday, saying the controversies enveloping the White House were the result of Republican lawmakers’ trying to “drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped-up hearings and false allegations.”The remarks came from Dan Pfeiffer, a member of the president’s inner circle, as he appeared on all five major Sunday morning talk shows in an effort to move the administration past what commentators have described as a “hell week” of controversy and missteps.

Stuart Varney said this morning on "Varney & Co." that one of his producers was given a questionnaire with some surprisingly intrusive questions on it when he switched doctors. One of the questions was whether he/she was concerned about unsecured weapons in the home. Another asked whether he/she was "in a relationship in which you have been physically hurt or are you afraid of your partner?" Judge Andrew Napolitano explained that the question about guns comes out of a post-Sandy Hook executive order by President Obama, but it will be required under Obamacare. Varney expressed amazement
