MIT to Obama: Only 4 years
left to stop global warming

Washington Examiner, by Paul Bedard

Original Article

Posted By:KarenJ1, 1/11/2013 10:21:23 AM

In a bruising open letter to President Obama, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology is urging the administration to give up its bungled, politically-driven green energy program to focus exclusively on new taxes and industries aimed at fixing global warming. "You have the power and the opportunity to lay the groundwork for a new clean-energy policy that will help us avoid the worst consequences of climate change," said the letter, published in the MIT Technology Review. "It is quite possible that if this is not done over the next four years, it will be too late."

Comments:
It is so disturbing that once respected institutions are prostituting themselves in supporting the fraud that is global warming. I say again, it gets to the point that you can´t believe anything you read anymore because you don´t know if it really is based on facts or it is pure propaganda.

If they would just go ahead and call it a religion they could admit they care nothing for the scientific method and quit lying about it.

The article does not say WHO wrote the letter. Obviously the SCHOOL did not write the letter, someone at the school wrote it. Maybe the ??? (I´d say janitor, but I don´t want to insult them).

I sympathize w/ Karen - MIT was once an *objective* university...

Somewhat less than amusing to see how often the ´science´ behind this scam is debunked - to be countered simply with louder ´warnings´. No ´dire warning´ issued by *any* authority - most notably the IPCC - has come to pass, nor as *any* empirically proven thesis been offered, and the trolls keep on trolling. Nothing sells like ´salvation´ - or more accurately - nothing taxes like the intangible.

Global warming? Not a snowball´s chance in Hell.

You´re more likely to see some loud-mouthed ´greenie´ sell his opinion outlet to Islamist fossil fuel hustlers...

Wait...that was last week. Next bug-a-boo?

The booger-eating morons at MIT need to talk to Russia, China and India about this issue more than Obambi.

Thanks #6.

Did the letter refer to ANY study that establishes GW as a scientifically provable fact?

I´ve never been able to find such an article.

The letter is from the editors of MIT Technology Review, not MIT the university. I´m sure MIT´s Richard Lindzen will have a comment on this

Yes, who is this from? What "facts" are they citing? What effect, acting alone, will the U.S. economic collapse as a result of acting on this fraud have on Climate....oh, I know, the Chinese, Indians and other nations who give this whole issue the bottom of the shoe will gain and we´ll lose, problem solved. Meanwhile, climate and nature go their happy way.

We need more grant money. C´mon Obama you´ve only got four years to send us more money. Step on it. Some of us don´t even have yachts yet.

Thank you Poster #9, I didn´t know of Richard Lindzen. For those who are wondering, according to Wikpedia Richard Lindzen is a atmospheric physicist and Alfred P. Sloan Professor of Meteorology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. "He is a well known skeptic concerning catastrophic global warming[2] and critic of what he states are political pressures on climate scientists to conform to what he has called climate alarmism."

The mag is not the school, but has some sort of affiliation. It has the typical left lean, I think the newest editor is a total lefty, so this kind of stuff is just part of the package.

There will be much nodding and pontificating about this up and down the Charles.

Poppycock. Greenland was green 1000 years ago. Check out Greenland´s temperature history.

By the way, which nerd speaks for MIT? And why is it "four years". Greenland was warmer for 400 years, from 800-1200 AD.

Only three more years before Al Gore´s 10 year prediction comes due. All Al wanted was a complete transformation of society, of course under his control, to save us from ourselves. Just total control; nothing more.

Do they mean that Global Warming that stopped of its own accord 14 years ago with the Sun´s natural cycle? And forced them to rename the phenomenon "climate change" because there was no such thing as warming?

I´m an MIT casualty (alumnus) and clearly recall all the Commie utopia crap that passed for political insight there during the 1980s. "Eat the Rich" was popular basement graffiti, second only to "No Toad Sexing Allowed" in ubiquity around campus. (Clearly economics is one area that "MIT" is not synonymous with genius or wisdom.)

There has not been consensus on ´global warming´ among the atmospheric science professors there, much less globally. And much of what I´ve seen from the climate-change alarmists has failed to rise to the minimal standards of scientific discipline that was taught to us as freshmen there.

My feeble, trembling fingers were about to write MIT into my will when I got the word that it is all over in four years. It would be different if only we had five years left. Oh well.

Not to worry...everyone open the windows and doors of your homes and turn your air conditioning to cool on full blast. We´ll have everything cooled down before sundown today!!

There, that will fix the problem, is a realistic solution, and is based on facts and physics as much as the ridiculous headline of this article!!!

U.S. military sources serving in North Africa are challenging the latest White House claim that the administration is applying "all the resources" at its disposal to bring the Benghazi attackers to justice, charging instead that the Obama administration knows who is responsible but is not acting. "They have let it slip by because of politics, and now we´ve taken all the correlation we had and dropped the ball because of risk (aversion) -- and now the security in Libya is more fragile than ever," one U.S. special operator told Fox News. Rhode Island Democratic Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse has apologized for remarks Monday in which he linked Oklahoma "cyclones" to climate change while berating Republicans for their stance on the issue -- around the time a massive tornado killed dozens in that state. A Whitehouse spokesman said Tuesday the politically charged remarks were pre-written as part of the senator’s weekly Senate floor speech on climate change. “Tragically and unbeknownst to the senator at the time, a series of tornadoes were hitting Oklahoma at the same moment he gave his remarks,” the spokesman said.

During a panel discussion on the Department of Justice seizing the phone records of Fox News’ James Rosen, Bret Baier revealed that the seizure included the phone records of Rosen’s parents. The entire panel agreed the scandal was an outrage, with Kirsten Powers pointing out that there have been a number of high-profile leaks from the Obama administration, but the only ones they seem interested in going after are the ones that make them look bad. Charles Krauthammer found it amazing that the government would make such a “huge assault on the first amendment” in trying to

But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”
