| The Food and Drug Administration is requiring makers of Ambien and similar sleeping pills to lower the dosage of their drugs, based on studies suggesting patients face a higher risk of injury due to morning drowsiness. The agency said Thursday that new research shows that the drugs remain in the bloodstream at levels high enough to interfere with morning driving, which increases the risk of car accidents. Regulators are ordering drug manufacturers to cut the dose of the medications in half for women, who process the drug more slowly.

People will probably take a higher dosage than prescribed since the government is announcing to the world that the dosage must be cut.

In a perfect world, your doctor should determine the dosage.
Government intrusion is NOT welcome.

How bloody sleepy do you think people will be in the morning after you lowered their dosage and they COULDN´T GET TO SLEEP the night before?!?!?

I have had to take Ambien for a while before, following a period extreme sleep deprivation due to some things going on in my life at that time. And I can tell you that I get a good night´s sleep on 1/4 of a pill. 1/2 of a pill makes me groggy the next day, and a whole pill (which I only ever took once) pert near puts me in a coma.
Also, drugs like this don´t work the same on eeryone. My father, for instance, was given Ambien once in the hospital, and it had the opposite effect on him - he was climbing the walls. Not a drug to play around with.

I have taken Ambien for 5 years now. Doc gives me script for 10mg and I cut the little boogers in half per HIS instructions and sleep like a baby. Gee, silly me, never thought about asking the government to interfere, just figured since my doc said take 5 mg, I could cut that pill in half all on my lonesome and you know, well use my BRAIN to figure out that 5 is half of 10.
Now my script will cost me just as much for half the amount. Why is this the government´s province? Why is this not simply a transaction between my doctor and myself?
Yay government stupidity!! Screws us all yet again!!

Posters 5 and 6, I had a somewhat similar experience with ambien. My trouble was I´d wake up at 1 or 2 am and could not get back to sleep. With ambien, when that happens, I take 1/4 tablet and it works about 85 percent of the time. Effective drug, but as 5 said, not to be played around with.

I have been using it to prevent Bad dreams. 1/2 of a 10 mg. If I wake up real early, a glass of OJ (sugar fix) lets me get back to sleep.

A Central Florida man who was shot and killed by an FBI agent early Wednesday morning was being investigated by the FBI and Massachusetts authorities in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings. The FBI told the Orlando Sentinel that during the early morning hours Wednesday, an FBI agent — along with two Massachusetts State Police troopers and other law enforcement personnel — were interviewing 27-year-old Ibragim Todashev in connection with the Boston Marathon bombing investigation when a violent confrontation was initiated by Todashev.

Biden has long, deep ties to the Jewish community — Obama actually picked him in 2008 in part to reassure skittish Jewish Democrats. The Internal Revenue Service last year supplied a left-leaning nonprofit charity with confidential information about conservative organizations, which the charity disseminated to the public, ProPublica reported yesterday. The charity in question was ProPublica itself. We should acknowledge that "left-leaning" is our characterization; ProPublica describes itself in its own tax filings as "entirely non-partisan and non-ideological." ProPublica is legally obliged to be nonpartisan, for it enjoys tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, which means that contributions to it are tax-deductible.

If it is proven that the IRS thwarted some groups from obtaining tax-exempt status in fear that their traditional or conservative messages might hurt the 2012 Obama campaign (especially if it did so under pressure from White House-affiliated operatives), and if it is proven that the Obama administration deliberately ignored warnings about lax security at the Benghazi consulate, missed real opportunities to send help, or deliberately massaged intelligence reports in order to mislead the pre-election public about the true nature of Benghazi in order to further a false campaign narrative of a near dormant al-Qaeda

One of two men allegedly being questioned in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings was shot and killed by an FBI agent in Florida on Tuesday, (Snip)A friend of Ibragim Todashev said he and Todashev were being investigated as part of the Boston bombings. He said Todashev, 27, knew bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev because both were MMA fighters. The man claims he and Todashev were interviewed by the FBI for nearly three hours on Tuesday. The friend said he left the interview, and when he came back to the apartment he found that there had been a shooting.

The fact that this bit of information was conveyed to the protesters by a Department of Homeland Security officer who was also in attendance. House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa said embattled IRS official Lois Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights and will be hauled back to appear before his panel again. The California Republican said Lerner’s Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination was voided when she gave an opening statement this morning denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service. “When I asked her her questions from the very beginning, I did so so she could assert her rights prior to any statement,” Issa told POLITICO. “She chose not to do so — so she waived.”
