West New York assemblywoman´s
bill would require psychological
tests for all gun buyers

Jersey Journal [Jersey City, NJ], by Terrence T. McDonald

Original Article

Individuals seeking a permit to buy firearms in New Jersey would have to submit results of a psychological evaluation before they could buy a gun, under a bill introduced yesterday in the Legislature by West New York Assemblywoman Angelica Jimenez. The measure would also require applicants to have an on-site inspection and evaluation of the household where the firearm would be located. The bill was one of 18 introduced yesterday by several lawmakers in the state Senate and Assembly intended to curb gun violence in New Jersey, which already has some of the nation’s toughest gun laws.

I´m sure this same loon will also ask for in-house inspections before buying: bats, knives, hammers, etc.

After all, the government knows what is best for you...

Perhaps we can get her to introduce a similar bill for anyone running for elected office?

There should be psychological tests for persons who serve in the state government, at ALL levels, in both New Jersey and New York.

New Jersey Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg and Assemblyman Joseph Cryan would not meet the pre-screening criteria. Angelica Jimenez would not finish the first round.

In New York, Cuomo and Bloomberg would also be knocked out in the first round.

But Chris Christie would get a little further along. If only because he has the wit to hold his tongue on those issues with which he may not be in full agreement with.

Politicians first !
While we are on the subject of testing, WHERE is Obama´s yearly physical results?
Other than results from a few years ago, when his doctor suggested less alcohol, I haven´t heard a word. If he has AIDS, or a crack addiction I want to know.

I can´t stand half-measures.

Why not a bill ordering SWAT teams to surround the homes of anyone attempting to buy a gun legally? Demand they surrender all weapons and come out, hands up, within 10 minutes of the order by the on-scene SWAT commander? Who can then issue shoot-to-kill orders to defend the team from "suspicious movements, objects, and bulges under clothing"?

Empty, feel-good, nonsense laws like this eat up huge resources of time in pointless activity. As a Realtor in California I am required to write an "ethics" exam at every renewal of my license. The ability to pass this stupid thing has NO relevance to whether you are a person of character. A bunch of dumb questions that boil down to "Is it OK to cheat people if you have the chance?" (Hint: The answer is "no".)

Department for Education inspectors said that girls in a school at the centre of the so-called “Trojan Horse” plot were forced to sit at the back of the class, some Christian pupils were left to “teach themselves” and an extremist preacher was invited to speak to children. The report, into three schools in the city, follows weeks of controversy over the alleged plot to “Islamise” secular schools in Birmingham

According to the intergovernmental panel on climate change (IPCC), pests, rising heat and extreme temperatures resulting from climate change may actually impact the supply of coffee. The news has those in the coffee industry worried. "I am very concerned," said Mauricio Galindo, head of International Coffee Organization. "I would say climate change is the most serious threat to the sustainability of the coffee supply chain right now." The IPCC says that a temperature rise of just 2 to 2.5 centigrades

After presenting at the Academy Awards this year, Kim Novak didn’t want to leave her house. The Hitchcock screen siren, 81, was too humiliated to venture from her home near the Rogue River in Oregon. President Obama addressed the White House press corps today, announcing that with the final numbers in, Obamacare´s exchanges have attracted eight million sign-ups -- 35 percent of whom are "under the age of 35," he said. Several elements of his comments were misleading: (1) At first blush, the 35 percent stat is both significant and impressive. As recently as last month, the share of "young invincibles" signing up for plans was struggling in the 25 percent range, far short of the actuarial target of nearly 40 percent. A leap into the mid-30´s, while still shy of the goal, would constitute a major step, and would bode well for the risk pools'

It’s the stuff of Westerns: a showdown on the desert plains, the big bad government against an underdog farmer. He hasn’t paid grazing fees since 1993, and refuses to renew the necessary grazing permit.(Snip)Rather than using the avenues and pathways presented to him, Bundy has staunchly declared his own law and allegiances. A group of seven multiracial Washington and Lee University (W&L) students are demanding the school remove all Confederate flags from campus and "acknowledge" General Robert E. Lee´s "dishonorable side." According to the Roanoke Times, "seven multiracial students, calling themselves ´The Committee,´" have also demanded the school "acknowledge and apologize for participating in chattel slavery." They want recognition of "Martin Luther King Jr. Day on the undergraduate campus" and an end to "neo-Confederates" marching across campus "to the Lee Chapel on Lee-Jackson Day." The White House is going to war with another fox — and this time, it’s personal. The Wall Street Journal reports that a red fox has been causing chaos around the White House, tripping security alarms, digging up Michelle’s garden and distracting the president from his duties. The Secret Service won’t give any details about how often the fox trips the White House’s obviously sophisticated security alarms, but rest assured, officials say, they’re watching. President Obama was apparently “stunned” to see the fox roaming freely down the oft-photographed White House colonnade, home to the world’s shortest, but most dramatic, outdoor strolls. GREENSBORO, Ga. — Golf holes the size of pizzas. Soccer balls on the back nine. A mulligan on every hole. These are some of the measures — some would say gimmicks — that golf courses across the country have experimented with to stop people from quitting the game. Golf has always reveled in its standards and rich tradition. But increasingly a victim of its own image and hidebound ways, golf has lost five million players in the last decade, according to the National Golf Foundation, with 20 percent of the existing 25 million golfers apt to quit in the next few years. People under 35 have especially spurned the game, saying it takes too

To "honor the dignity and work of immigrants," Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi helps Bishop Marc Andrus wash the feet of two children Thursday at Saint John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in San Francisco. Pelosi also used the occasion to talk about passing HR15 - bipartisan immigration legislation that her office says would "reduce the deficit by nearly $1 trillion, secure our borders, unite our families, protect our workers and provide an earned pathway to citizenship." The Democratic leader´s ceremony coincides with Pope Francis´ similar ceremony in Rome to mark Holy Week.
