Obama Leans Left With Pick
Of Chuck Hagel For Defense

Investor´s Business Daily, by Michael Barone

Original Article

Posted By:SoCalGal, 1/9/2013 11:42:43 PM

Barack Obama, we have been told by his admirers on the left and right, is an instinctive centrist, a moderate always ready to negotiate compromises, a politician deeply interested in the nuances of public policy. (Snip) On foreign policy and defense issues, Hagel stands not somewhere between the two parties but conspicuously to the left not only of Republicans but of most Democrats — and to the left of many of the president´s own policies.

As we are seeing more and more lately, just because one calls oneself a Republican, that doesn´t make it so.

I swear we are "governed" and I use the term loosely , very loosely..by the biggest bunch of morons ..ever....anyone who was paying even a minute of attention when he first came on the scene, would have figured him out..Centrist, negotiate compromises..Bah, spit, phooey..my 7 year old would have nailed him..if I had a 7 yr. old...

Mr Barone, Obama doesn´t lean left; he already fell over left. I dread the next four years. I´m to old to wish them away, so I´ll just have to suffer through them.

Obama...a centrist???? In what LSD-addled alternate universe run by Joe Stalin´s twin would that be true??? Come on!!! I am feeling sick. These people probably think Nixon was a reactionary and FDR was a conservative! Oh, that´s right...Showtime and Oliver Stone think so already!! What a bunch of hooey!

Hagel hasn´t been a republican for years. He was one of those ´in name only´ ones.

How is it possible to be even more left than Jug Ears is? Barry wants to implode the military but doesn´t want the direct blame, so he ushers in Hagel to do the job.

I´m calling BS on this article. This is reverse psychology. "Instinctive centrist"? First time I´ve heard it, though the author wants me to believe "every knows" Obama is an "instinctive centrist" only just now moving to the left, rather then a socialist zealot so far to the left that Chi is to the right of him. It´s purpose is to set up the narrative that Obama WAS "an instinctive centrist".

No, Obama was never a "centrist". If he´s "instinctive" anything, he´s an "instinctive rabid communo-socialist with some green weenie sprinkled on top".

Reply 7 - Posted by: Keekng, 1/10/2013 6:52:17 AM     (No. 9108371)

He not only leans left, he is about to tip over!

Does no one understand the first sentence? Did they miss the part I am highlighting below?

Barack Obama, we have been told by his admirers on the left and right, is an instinctive centrist, a moderate always ready to negotiate compromises, a politician deeply interested in the nuances of public policy.

The point of the article (if one reads beyond the headline and the intro) is that Obie is anything but "an instinctive centrist, a moderate, etc., etc., etc." - he is not as advertised.

When LDotters don´t understand what they read, I really worry about the future of our country.

(Hit submit too soon)

As Barone says, Obie´s choice of Hagel, who is far to the left of even Obie´s leftist policies, is an indication that he is moving even further left. Or maybe just more overtly?

California should abandon its current tax system and charge everyone the same rate. That’s the proposal made by famed economist Arthur Laffer in a report released Thursday that is highly critical of California’s business climate. Laffer,(Snip) said in an interview that moving to a flat tax rate of about 6.5 percent would reduce complexity over the tax system and free up money for businesses to invest. He also said the rate would be revenue-neutral at full employment, meaning the state would collect the same revenue as it does under the current system. Otherwise, under our current progressive system

A Central Florida man who was shot and killed by an FBI agent early Wednesday morning was being investigated by the FBI and Massachusetts authorities in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings. The FBI told the Orlando Sentinel that during the early morning hours Wednesday, an FBI agent — along with two Massachusetts State Police troopers and other law enforcement personnel — were interviewing 27-year-old Ibragim Todashev in connection with the Boston Marathon bombing investigation when a violent confrontation was initiated by Todashev.

Biden Praises Jews, Goes Too Far,

Joe Biden spoke last night in honor of Jewish American Heritage Month. Biden has long, deep ties to the Jewish community — Obama actually picked him in 2008 in part to reassure skittish Jewish Democrats. Biden indeed offered fulsome, heartfelt praise in his remarks, before wandering into highly uncomfortable terrain and delivering a speech that is likely to be quoted by anti-Semites for years and decades to come. (It’s already the subject of excited discussion among the white supremacist community.)

Grief and politics don´t mix. When raw, aching grief and the dirtiest kind of politics meet, a hot volcano of pain and outrage erupts that is unstoppable. But it is necessary.(Snip)before Benghazi, there was Extortion 17, the call sign of a special operations mission in Afghanistan on Aug. 6, 2011. Three months after the strike on Osama bin Laden, 30 Americans -- including 15 from the bin Laden strike-team unit, Navy SEAL Team 6, and two other SEALs -- were killed in the costliest single-day loss for the U.S. military in the Afghanistan war, and the largest SEAL loss

A faulty steering apparatus may bring an early end to NASA’s Kepler space telescope, a $600 million tool in the space agency’s quest for life elsewhere in the universe. Kepler is the first NASA mission capable of finding Earth-size planets in or near the habitable zone, the range of distance from a star where the surface temperature of an orbiting planet might be suitable for liquid water. Launched in 2009, it has discovered thousands of such planets, including a pair just 1,200 light years away.(Snip) But yesterday, Kepler’s mission ran into trouble.

The IRS´s Nonprofit Helper

The Internal Revenue Service last year supplied a left-leaning nonprofit charity with confidential information about conservative organizations, which the charity disseminated to the public, ProPublica reported yesterday. The charity in question was ProPublica itself. We should acknowledge that "left-leaning" is our characterization; ProPublica describes itself in its own tax filings as "entirely non-partisan and non-ideological." ProPublica is legally obliged to be nonpartisan, for it enjoys tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, which means that contributions to it are tax-deductible.

A Tainted Campaign?

If it is proven that the IRS thwarted some groups from obtaining tax-exempt status in fear that their traditional or conservative messages might hurt the 2012 Obama campaign (especially if it did so under pressure from White House-affiliated operatives), and if it is proven that the Obama administration deliberately ignored warnings about lax security at the Benghazi consulate, missed real opportunities to send help, or deliberately massaged intelligence reports in order to mislead the pre-election public about the true nature of Benghazi in order to further a false campaign narrative of a near dormant al-Qaeda

Washington rumor has it that Obama wants to be U.N. Secretary General. There are several reasons that make that likely, and if it´s true, it throws new light on a lot of Obama´s oddities -- including his Royalty Bows, his Apology Tours, his Muslim Sellout, and the Benghazi Cover-Up. But first -- why would Obama be planning to become the chief of the U.N. before he has even finished his second term?

On Wednesday, Drummer Lee Rigby of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, a man who had served Queen and country honorably in the hell of Helmand Province in Afghanistan, emerged from his barracks on Wellington Street, named after the Duke thereof, in southeast London. Minutes later, he was hacked to death in broad daylight and in full view of onlookers by two men with machetes who crowed "Allahu Akbar!" as they dumped his carcass in the middle of the street like so much roadkill. As grotesque as this act of savagery was, the aftermath was even more unsettling

MARK LEVIN: So why didn´t Chairman Issa hold an investigative hearing a year ago? Why didn´t Chairman Camp, all Republicans, hold an investigative hearing a year ago, and all the other tripping over themselves right now? I´ll tell you why. Because the establishment Republicans, the RINO Republicans, despise the Tea Party. They despise the conservative movement. We exist to be managed, to be shuttled to the polling place, to vote for their candidates. The Karl Roves of the world, and all the rest of them. They fight us in the primaries, they fight us at the grassroots.

WASHINGTON —In a dramatic departure from existing White House procedures, President Obama requested today that his staff start cc’ing him on stuff. “Look, I know a lot of you think I’m really busy and you don’t want to bother me,” the President reportedly told his staff in an Oval Office meeting. “But cc me anyway. It’s good for me to keep up on what’s going on around here.” “It’s not good when I turn on the news and they’re talking about something at the White House and I’m like, whoa, when did that happen?”

Abuse Of Power: Any scandal investigation that expects a "Eureka!" moment, a White House e-mail, or Oval Office smoking gun will be misguided. In fact, the dots are already connected directly to the president. Barack Obama is not foolish enough to have a tape recording system hidden in his desk. And his administration staff are not careless enough to send one another incriminating e-mails. If the president was behind the IRS unlawfully harassing conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status, we can be sure the communications were all sotto voce and in persona, like any good Chicago political operator.

A Washington state Democrat is accusing Republicans of “throwing American infrastructure … under the bus” after a bridge collapse there this week. The portion of Interstate 5 in Washington that runs over the Skagit River collapsed on Thursday after a truck hit an overhead support structure, but Rep. Jim McDermott (D-Wash.) cited the incident in an interview as proof Republicans were blocking infrastructure investment to hurt President Obama politically. “Well, they have clearly spent the whole last five years trying to tear the president down, but they have done it by throwing the American infrastructure and
