Comments:
This whole idea of "sequestration" is a thorn in the side of the Military future planning. I am not saying that federal jobs there don´t need to really be done away with, but a 10% or more across the board of all government agencies would be a start at balancing our budget [if ever]. TSA is a great start to make it run by private industry. Also, doesn´t the EPA and some other agencies just need to be defunded all together? This Keynesian economic thinking in Congress needs to be stopped before it bankrupts US.

Some civil servants are saints returned to Earth to help us all out: Maybe fifteen percent.
The remainder, the largest percentage, are lazy, venal and useless.

We could put 80% of federal and state workers on indefinite leave (without pay) and things would run more smoothly and we´d save lots of money.

I wonder if blacks and hispanic workers would be exempt from that month of unpaid leave. Enquiring minds want to know since affirmative action trumps everything else.

According to Wikipedia, there are 857,261 active duty military personnel. What in the heck do we need with 800,000 Pentagon civilian employees? I bet half of them aren´t adding value, but are just getting in the way of the warfighters. This sounds like an area that could be cut permanently and effectiveness would actually improve.
The Federal and State governments are rife with this kind of waste. Hopefully the Republicans will stand their ground on spending cuts. By election time no one will remember the fuss and they won´t have missed the "services" that are no longer being provided.

Although I won´t disagree that some DOD civlians are worthless, but do you guys have any idea how many people it takes to support just the Army? The gartenherr works as a civilian roughly in the R and D for new weapons/vehicles etc. All intell/analysis is done by civilians. All those engineers who design and build the prototypes are civilians. Most of the people who run the pay system for the nmilitary are civilian as are most of the people who buy everything the Army needs from bullets to TP are civilian. The abasolutely gross waste of money comes from the large defense companies where we have apent trillions of dollars on everything from FCS to new vehicles with nothing being fielded.

Monday afternoon, ABC News released a chilling report that details what journalists have faced while trying to get some answers from the Cincinnati IRS office, which is where a majority of the Tea Party targeting took place. According to ABC, an "armed uniform police officer with the Federal Protective Service" "escorted" reporters through the public building. ABC says if the intent wasn´t to "scare off" employees who might talk, "it was the effect." ABC News is also hearing conflicting reports from Cincinnati IRS employees and the IRS Headquarters in Washington.

The biggest issue in the U.S. farm bill has little to do with agriculture and everything to do with partisan politics and the role of government in caring for the poor: food stamps. It has a catchier name now, SNAP, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. The mark-up of the $500 billion measure approved 36-10 by the House Agriculture Committee last week cuts $20.5 billion in food assistance over 10 years to rein in SNAP´s growth. The program, which serves 47 million Americans, averages $70 billion a year, about 70 percent of farm bill spending and eclipsing the crop insurance program.

Jerusalem - Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held out the prospect on Sunday of further Israeli strikes inside Syria, pledging to act to prevent advanced weapons from reaching Hezbollah and other militant groups. If you had been looking up at the moon at the right moment on March 17, you could have seen an unusual flash of light – a one-second burst of heat caused by the impact of a large meteoroid. No telescope required. “For about one second, the impact site was glowing like a 4th magnitude star,” NASA said in reporting the news Friday. WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. Stuart Varney said this morning on "Varney & Co." that one of his producers was given a questionnaire with some surprisingly intrusive questions on it when he switched doctors. One of the questions was whether he/she was concerned about unsecured weapons in the home. Another asked whether he/she was "in a relationship in which you have been physically hurt or are you afraid of your partner?"
