| After a vote on January 8, Illinois is set to join only two other states, New Mexico and Washington, to allow illegal immigrants to apply for state drivers licenses. A third state, Utah, allows illegals to drive on temporary permits. The 65-46 vote where 11 Republicans, some in leadership positions, joined Democrats to extend legal licenses came after a long, heated debate (SB 957). Conservative activist William J. Kelly criticized the law. "This kind of legislation has spurred a serious fraud problem in New Mexico and other states where it has been enacted,"

Interesting situation.
A person comes into a government office, admits they are in the country illegally, is given a pat on the head, a drivers license and told ´have a good day´.
Laws, we don´t need no stinking laws".

All across America, frequently, (and unfortunately) we see reports of vehicle accidents involving injuries/fatalities caused by illegals.
I wonder if Illinois will report the type of license possessed by these illegals?

Pretty much matches the irrationality of the "Dear Lunatic Murderer: Please Don´t Bring your Weapons in Here" laws.
Illegal aliens [the one correct term] break the law intentionally just coming here. Many violate identity/identity-theft laws. There are any number of other laws they intentionally break. But the geniuses in the Illinois legislature really claim these criminals will be stampeding to State Farm offices for car insurance? And make all the payments on it?
Tell me why I shouldn´t regard these pols as abettors of the illegals?

This has nothing to do with driving. Those licenses are the photo ID´s illegals will need in order to vote.

And speaking of George Ryan, isn´t he in prison because of the license-for-bribes scandal? Even if that isn´t the crime he was convicted of, I´ve always believed that if Ricardo Guzman hadn´t caused the accident that killed 6 of the Willis children, the license scandal would have just faded away. And now, illegals can have an IL drivers license without paying off a middleman. What a state.

Illinois is quickly becoming a great state NOT to live in. I spent a year there once and will never return. Exhorbitant taxes, corruption, union control of everything, crime out the wazoo, what´s not to love?
