| In Piers Morgan’s America, everyone is trying to arm themselves with an AR-15 for protection, which in his view is extremely dangerous. During an interview with the now-famous former Marine Joshua Boston, who wrote a public letter to Sen. Dianne Feinstein D-Calif. opposing gun control, Morgan cooked up a dangerous scenario where every American was armed with an AR-15. “If everybody exercises that choice and is legally allowed to do so, you could end up with every movie theater and every school and every church and every shopping mall in America, with everybody armed with an AR-15

The AR-15, and variants thereof, have been available on the market for over 50 years. It hasn´t happened yet.
It will happen when this government turns on law-abiding citizens to take those and similar firearms away.
These people are wholly evil or interminably stupid, because they either intend to or have no idea they are about to provoke a civil war.

I believe the British ´definition´ for this guy is ´arse´.
Over here he´s just a jackass.
As noted previously - ´high capacity´ weapons have been around since the advent of high capacity weapons. Damn few in civilian hands have been used illegally - compared to hammers and baseball bats, which the FBI notes still kill way the h**l more people than firearms.
If I were Piers - I wouldn´t want to go back to a country where most ´home invasions´ take place when the owners are present - simply as British thugs embrace gun control...almost as much as British bureaucrats.

I very much prefer an America that resembles the Wild West over an America that resembles the South Side of Chicago. The Wild West is a lot safer for law-abiding citizens.

Who is this idiot? The days are long past when anyone with a Brit accent was seen as worldly and civilized. Now it represents massive taxation and regulation, no free speech, no self defense, and unrestrained immigration of barbarians. That and girls with purple hair and rubber knickers. Its sad. They were once a great people.

Just what this British bloviator know of the American "Wild" West? He thinks it was like Hollywood portrays it - everyone drawing their six-shooter at the slightest provocation and firing off dozens of rounds, killing all those on both sides of the street at will. Nothing could be further from the truth.

The AR-15 is a military style (look alike) gun. It requires pulling the trigger to fire each shot. It is not an automatic that one pull releases bullet after bullet.

Morgan comes from Britain where guns and rifles are strictly controlled and he knows that gun violence is very rare over there. Here it is not. But the American people are privileged to live in what Lincoln called the last best hope of mankind and thus have burdens and responsibilities as a result of that privilege. As much as Morgan and others are loathe to admit it, by extension, people in other countries benefit from our freedoms. If tyranny were to take hold here, what would happen to the British? Columbine, Newtown and inner city killings are the price we pay for the freedom to stand up to tyrants.

Sorry #16, but UK gun violence has increased dramatically since they banned handguns. The myth that gun control has made merry olde England into a peaceful park is just that, a myth.
Most of the USA has lower gun crime rate than England at the same time that essentially ANY law abiding citizen can easily obtain a permit to carry a concealed handgun in about 40+ of our states.
Millions of honest US citizens carry a gun every day and harm nobody except the occasional criminal in self defense. Morgan is a hoplopobic fool who should get a few facts on actual gun crime rates into his hopelessly limited and muddled brain.

President Obama on Thursday nominated Victoria Nuland, a State Department official involved in the editing of the administration´s talking points on Benghazi, to be the next assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs. Nuland, a career foreign service officer who was until recently State´s top spokesperson, had long been expected to be nominated the post to replace Philip Gordon, who Obama picked to serve as Middle East coordinator for the National Security Council. Nuland´s nomination -- which requires Senate confirmation -- could come under scrutiny from Republicans who see her as playing a central role in shaping

America´s 100 million cable and satellite subscribers are forced to pay ever-higher bills for a growing number of channels they do not watch. The American people are being ripped off. Meanwhile, services such as iTunes and Netflix have led a revolution in how consumers purchase and experience music and video entertainment. They have upended entire industries to allow consumers to buy digital content where they want, when they want. Amid all this change, two entrenched interests — the cable television and video programming industries — have teamed up to use federal regulations to stack the deck against consumers.

Conservative radio host Mark Levin is very skeptical of the idea that President Obama had absolutely no idea about the IRS tea party targeting before the story broke in the news mere weeks ago. Levin declared adamantly that it is a “flat-out, bald-faced lie” that Obama didn’t know beforehand, citing prior reports by a few conservative news outlets picking up on the news well before the 2012 presidential election. Levin said, “I don’t believe for two seconds that Obama wasn’t aware of this.”

President Obama is a little uneasy with the way journalists have been dragged into the Justice Department’s aggressive pursuit of national security leak investigations. In fact, he has ordered Attorney General Eric Holder to conduct a 45-day review of the department’s guidelines on the issue. That bit of news was buried in the middle of the president’s hourlong speech today at National Defense University. “Journalists should not be at legal risk for doing their jobs,” President Obama said. “Our focus must be on those who break the law.” And then the news: “I have raised these issues with

Anthony Weiner’s nascent mayoral campaign is off to a rough start. Weiner made his candidacy for mayor of New York official in the wee hours of Wednesday morning, and since then there’s no indication that the process is going particularly well. The former rising star in the Democratic Party can’t shake the scandal that forced him to resign from Congress, and he may be throwing fuel on the fire. Asked this morning whether there was another shoe to drop in the sextweeting scandal that ousted him, Weiner admitted, Well, yeah.

White House press secretary Jay Carney could only explain his problems on Wednesday by telling reporters, "[T]here are a lot of you, and you´re good at your jobs and you´re smart." As easy as it might be for Carney to lob such insincere praise at former journalistic colleagues, such posterior osculations must be embarrassing for a White House so accustomed to having the press in its back pocket. Carney´s job has become more difficult in the past two weeks. Where his explanations were accepted at face value in the past, he is now met with deep skepticism. Suddenly, the

WASHINGTON – First she refused to testify. Now Lois Lerner, the IRS official at the center of the agency scandal, is refusing to resign, according to a top Republican senator. Sources confirmed to Fox News earlier Thursday that Lerner, the head of the IRS division that oversaw the unit targeting conservative groups, had been placed on administrative leave, with pay. But Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, claimed she was only put in that status after refusing to step down. He said the commissioner was in his right to demand her resignation, and said taxpayers

The public got its first look Thursday at Lois Lerner, who has gone from faceless IRS bureaucrat to the face that launched what feels like 1,000 congressional hearings and conspiracy theories. But it was only a brief sighting since she didn´t stay long at a House hearing to further probe her role in how some IRS workers came to target conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status. (Snip)She did make a short statement to declare her innocence, however. Lerner´s motivation was more transparent than much of what the IRS has done in connection with this controversy. She was determined to

When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

On “Fox News Sunday” last weekend, White House aide Dan Pfeiffer was asked about President Barack Obama’s whereabouts the night of the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi. This was the night when we lost our first ambassador in 30 years, and when three other Americans were killed in an attack that lasted all night long at multiple locations within the eastern Libyan city. Since the president is commander in chief, one would think where he was and what he did during such an event would be of obvious public concern.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa said embattled IRS official Lois Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights and will be hauled back to appear before his panel again. The California Republican said Lerner’s Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination was voided when she gave an opening statement this morning denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service. “When I asked her her questions from the very beginning, I did so so she could assert her rights prior to any statement,” Issa told POLITICO. “She chose not to do so — so she waived.”

Is the worm turning against Barack Obama? After four-plus years of being given the benefit of the doubt by the bulk of the US media, the President now suddenly feels more vulnerable. Today both the New York Times and the Washington Post have run prominent and angry editorials and columns slamming the administration for its attempt to criminalise a Fox News reporter James Rosen for working a State Department source to obtain a story. The "Rosen Affair"--as it is now known--is poisoning the well in Washington at an alarming rate for Mr Obama, with an indignant White House press corps
