A Budget, You Say?

“1,350”-- The number of days since the Senate last passed a budget, April 29, 2009. Simple ideas are usually the best ones, and the latest idea for dealing with the looming battle over the federal debt limit is beautifully simple. No, Power Play is not talking about the $1 trillion platinum coin nor the idea that the president could simply declare the limit lifted under the ambiguous powers of the 14th Amendment (good luck borrowing money from anyone but Ben Bernanke after either ploy). The simple solution that might avoid the pending panic is to actually pass a federal budget,

I find it hard to believe that the Democrats got away with this so far.

I used to think it was incompetence. But no Budget means no restrictions. Obama can Executive Order and Presidential Privilege his way through eight years.

And, #2, the last budget passed - before the 2010 Republican takeover of the House - becomes the default budget for each following year, so the deficits incurred under that budget just keep on piling up. This was the plan all along, so that the White House could tell the low-info voters that Congress is to blame for all the spending over the last three years.

From Treasure of the Sierra Madre: "We don´t need no stinkin´ badges."

From Obama administration: "We don´t need no stinkin´ budget."

Our founding father´s would probably hang these criminals for treason.

#3, it´s actually because the Republicans provided a continuing resolution for 2 years in their debt ceiling deal in 2010. It also gave us the fiscal cliff debacle.

However, the GOP can simply point to the Democrats controlling the Senate for 6 years, and how the last budget was when the Democrats controlled the House, Senate and WH.
"We, Republicans, keep offering new budget proposals to do what´s right for the country, but the Democrats resist to negotiate the tough choices. They received their tax increases, and now the real discussion is fixing Medicare which is currently going bankrupt. The Democrats seem to be pushing for bankrupting Medicare."

Don´t elaborate on the top brackets, since many more workers see their paychecks declining due to the new 2% for Social Security, so don´t let Democrats off the hook - let them feel the heat for increasing taxes.

Just say no budget from Dirty Harry, no debt limit increase. And hold firm.
Can´t wait to see what that utter fool will do.
No matter what, no Senate budget, no debt increase.
Freak the Dims.

Why should they? They haven´t had one for years and they were returned to office by the low infos because they don´t have any knowledge of how the system is supposed to work---and they don´t want to know.
We are now Imperial Rome with a deified Emperor and rubber stamp Senate.

Hey Harry you meat head, how about something constructive like a 2013 Budget...it will never happen. A budget assumes that you know what you are doing!

I´m with you #7. It´s time to play hardball. The House of Representatives needs to take control of the debt issue because spending authorization rests solely with them. The smoke and mirrors manipulation of the Constitution is illegal and does not have to be tolerated.

It´s time for Congress to "grow a pair" and take their responsibilities more seriously. The future of our Nation and our posterity depends on it. We can trust no one else in Washington.

Federal investigators apparently accessed records of calls to and from a phone number at Fox News Channel in their leak investigation of a former State Department contractor, according to a court document. News of the government´s search of Fox News phone records comes after controversy broke out last week over a separate leak investigation in which prosecutors seized the call details of roughly 20 phone numbers of reporters and editors at the Associated Press. Vice President Joe Biden ribbed President Obama over his teleprompter use at a Jewish American Heritage Month reception in New York City on Tuesday.Biden asked that the teleprompter in the room be taken down before his address, according to the pool report. “You can’t tell Barack that the teleprompter’s down,” Biden said. “The standing joke in the office is Barack’s learning to speak without a teleprompter, I’m learning to speak with one. I apologize for the teleprompter.” Republicans have long criticized President Obama for his reliance on a teleprompter, often needling him for reading from prepared remarks rather than

These are historic and troubling times. The unprecedented and brazen efforts by high-ranking elements within the Obama administration to silence whistleblowers and intimidate any reporters that would speak with them have starkly framed the choice the political press now faces. The administration has thrown the gauntlet down before the media with their display of abject disregard for the watchdog Fourth Estate. To the White House’s chagrin, the media will respond. In a two-fold assault on the freedom of the press, President Barack Obama’s Department of Justice has been implicated in efforts designed to intimidate both the press and

The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”

Stuart Varney said this morning on "Varney & Co." that one of his producers was given a questionnaire with some surprisingly intrusive questions on it when he switched doctors. One of the questions was whether he/she was concerned about unsecured weapons in the home. Another asked whether he/she was "in a relationship in which you have been physically hurt or are you afraid of your partner?" Judge Andrew Napolitano explained that the question about guns comes out of a post-Sandy Hook executive order by President Obama, but it will be required under Obamacare. Varney expressed amazement

While many Americans were tuned into news coverage of the massive damage from tornadoes ravaging the state of Oklahoma, Rhode Island Democratic Sen. Former Democratic National committee chairman Howard Dean considers the controversy over Benghazi a “joke” and “silly.” “Benghazi is a laughable joke,” Dean proclaimed twice in a discussion with Republican National Committee communications chairman Sean Spicer last week. “With all due respect, governor, when four Americans die serving this country, that’s not a joke, sir,” Spicer responded. “Oh, stop it,” said Dean. The former Democratic presidential candidate also said that there were “no serious questions being asked about Benghazi” and brushed it off as an effort by Republicans to score political points.

U.S. Sen. John McCain bucked the party line coming from many of his fellow conservatives this morning, saying suggestions that compare the trio of scandals gripping the White House to Watergate are “overreaching.” “I think it’s overreaching. We need a full and complete investigation and then we will decide the dimensions of it,” said McCain while campaigning for Republican Senate candidate Gabriel Gomez in Dorchester. “It is terrible but we have to have a full investigation before we leap to conclusions.” The maverick’s caution is a sharp contrast to the response of many Republicans
