| Both sides are gearing up for a confirmation fight, not knowing if they are playing almost exclusively an inside game, or if this has the potential to go wider and become an outside game too (a la Bork and Tower). Those opposing Hagel have been organizing for a long time. They are sophisticated and have an appreciation for the dynamics of press, policy, votes and quotes, and vote counting that go into successfully defying the odds and denying an incumbent president his choice for a cabinet job when the nominee in question has no ethical issues or scandals to derail confirmation.

Hagel´s not a core republican,much less a core conservative. He took positions to get elected in a conservative state like Nebraska.For Obama to offer this up as bipartisanship is a joke. Just look at the supposed republican Ray LaHood,who´s become a big government liberal in his job.
I actually think that Panetta was opposed to taking a meat axe to the defense budget and Hagel´s more than happy to do so and that´s why Panettas gone and Hagel´s being proposed.
I think Hagel and Obama are joined at the hip in hating Israel and normalizing relations with Iran,both positions a lot of normal people object to.Kerry at SoS is another extension of this line of thinking.
Just taking a wild,off the cuff guess,I think Obama needs between $4-6 trillion in the relative short term to complete his so called trans formative government.That kind of money simply isn´t available through conventional means. 10 year treasuries aren´t paying crap so they´re not a lucrative investment for world investors.If they raise interest rates,it´ll kill they´re socialized housing schemes.
So,one of Obama´s money grabbing efforts will be aimed at military cuts,conning people that all we really need are special forces for today´s conflicts.

There’s a huge red flag in the Benghazi mess, but conservatives are letting the media get away with using a red herring to avoid it. Give the establishment media credit for obstinacy: Once it settles on a standard narrative or explanation for a particular subject, it shows remarkable discipline in explaining away any evidence that contradicts its own approved spin. So it has been with the media’s 250-day old determination to downplay the scandalous nature of the Obama administration’s treatment of its outpost in Benghazi before, during, and after the terrorist attack there that took four American lives.
