Team Hagel Versus Team Anti-Hagel
Time, by Mark Halperin

Both sides are gearing up for a confirmation fight, not knowing if they are playing almost exclusively an inside game, or if this has the potential to go wider and become an outside game too (a la Bork and Tower). Those opposing Hagel have been organizing for a long time. They are sophisticated and have an appreciation for the dynamics of press, policy, votes and quotes, and vote counting that go into successfully defying the odds and denying an incumbent president his choice for a cabinet job when the nominee in question has no ethical issues or scandals to derail confirmation.

Hagel´s not a core republican, much less a core conservative. He took positions to get elected in a conservative state like Nebraska. For Obama to offer this up as bipartisanship is a joke. Just look at the supposed republican Ray LaHood, who´s become a big government liberal in his job.

I actually think that Panetta was opposed to taking a meat axe to the defense budget and Hagel´s more than happy to do so and that´s why Panettas gone and Hagel´s being proposed.

I think Hagel and Obama are joined at the hip in hating Israel and normalizing relations with Iran, both positions a lot of normal people object to.Kerry at SoS is another extension of this line of thinking.

Just taking a wild, off the cuff guess,I think Obama needs between $4-6 trillion in the relative short term to complete his so called trans formative government. That kind of money simply isn´t available through conventional means. 10 year treasuries aren´t paying crap so they´re not a lucrative investment for world investors. If they raise interest rates,it´ll kill they´re socialized housing schemes.

So,one of Obama´s money grabbing efforts will be aimed at military cuts, conning people that all we really need are special forces for today´s conflicts.

How does congress cast its characters for this theater? Do they have to apply and try out for their characters? And who writes the script?

Study: CBS, ABC, NBC
have a ´War on Easter´
Washington Examiner [DC], by Paul Bedard    Original Article

A three-year study of how network news refers to “Easter” reveals that by a margin of 500-56, reports that mention the word or “Easter season” choose a secular path linking it to candy Peeps, frilly clothes and cocktails over Christ’s resurrection. “Instead of celebrating Christ´s rising from the dead, the networks have made it about ´egg-cellent Easter fashions,´ frilly Easter bonnets and pink martinis,” said a report from the conservative Media Research Center provided to Secrets on Good Friday. The study reviewed three years of news in the two weeks before Easter and found that about 89 percent of the references to

Construction on Saudi Arabia´s Kingdom Tower, which will be one whopping, expense kilometer tall, is set to commence next week, according to local reports. The Kingdom tower will measure 3,280 feet when completed, which stretches 568 feet taller than the current Guinness World Record holder for tallest man-made construction, the Burj Khalifa building in Dubai. The building will dominate the skyline of the coastal town of Jeddah on the Red Sea. If you´re afraid of heights, you´ll definitely want to know the 200-story building will feature a massive 98-foot terrace jutting from the side of the 157th floor. The Kingdom Tower won´t come

Holder’s undermining of the

Washington Times, by Robert Charles    Original Article

Attorney General Eric H. Holder was reminded during a recent congressional hearing that he has been held in “contempt of Congress” — for nonproduction of subpoenaed documents. He interrupted with a personal rebuke of his questioner. Later, he suggested that questioning of his leadership, nonresponsiveness to congressional oversight, and referring to the contempt vote was evidence of racism. The accusation was made a second time, perhaps as a political stratagem, by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. Let’s stop there — and stop the deflection, too. No attorney general of the United States is entitled, for any reason, to escape scrutiny of Congress,

3 Times I Was Framed for Murder –

Have you ever been blamed for a murder? Speak out against jihad terror, and you probably will be. It has happened to me three times (so far): 3. Reza Aslan blames me for murder of Muslim woman in California. Last Thursday in El Cajon, California, an Iraqi Muslim named Kassim Alhimidi was found guilty of murdering his wife, Shaima Alawadi, after she had told him that she wanted a divorce. Before Alhimidi was arrested, this murder was widely reported as an “Islamophobic hate crime”: a note was found by Alawadi’s body that read, “Go back to your country, you terrorist.” Leftists and Islamic

A little sea lion pup named Hoppie is only 10 months old but oh the adventures he´s had since being separated from his mother. "He was out in the world trying to find his way and trying to figure out where and how to catch fish and somehow he ended up going the wrong way," said Shawn Johnson, a veterinarian with the Marine Mammal Center near San Francisco. It´s believed that Hoppie´s odyssey began in Southern California off the Channel Islands. He migrated north, then under the Golden Gate Bridge into San Francisco Bay and down the San Joaquin River

Stop dressing so tacky for church

If the Rev. John DeBonville could preach a sermon to lift the souls of churchgoers across America, his message would be simple: Stop dressing so tacky for church. DeBonville has heard about the “come as you are” approach to dressing down for Sunday service, but he says the Sabbath is getting too sloppy. When he scans the pews of churches, DeBonville sees rows of people dressed in their Sunday worst. They saunter into church in baggy shorts, flip-flop sandals, tennis shoes and grubby T-shirts. Some even slide into the pews carrying coffee in plastic foam containers as if they’re going to Starbucks. “It’s like

The Growing Financial Disaster of Obamacare

President Obama asserts that 8 million people have signed up for Obamacare, as though that were something to be proud of. In fact, Obamacare has always been a fiasco from a fiscal perspective–a black hole of subsidies and expanded Medicaid, with largely fictitious mechanisms in place to pay for it. As the number of subsidized participants grows, the disaster gets worse. Charles Blahous explains: Our national discussion…is missing the truly significant story here; what is unfolding before our eyes is a colossal fiscal disaster, poised to haunt legislators and taxpayers for decades to come. It is quite possible that the ACA is

The White House is going to war with another fox — and this time, it’s personal. The Wall Street Journal reports that a red fox has been causing chaos around the White House, tripping security alarms, digging up Michelle’s garden and distracting the president from his duties. The Secret Service won’t give any details about how often the fox trips the White House’s obviously sophisticated security alarms, but rest assured, officials say, they’re watching. President Obama was apparently “stunned” to see the fox roaming freely down the oft-photographed White House colonnade, home to the world’s shortest, but most dramatic, outdoor strolls. A group of seven multiracial Washington and Lee University (W&L) students are demanding the school remove all Confederate flags from campus and "acknowledge" General Robert E. Lee´s "dishonorable side." According to the Roanoke Times, "seven multiracial students, calling themselves ´The Committee,´" have also demanded the school "acknowledge and apologize for participating in chattel slavery." They want recognition of "Martin Luther King Jr. Day on the undergraduate campus" and an end to "neo-Confederates" marching across campus "to the Lee Chapel on Lee-Jackson Day." The students say they will "engage in civil disobedience" if their demands are not met by September 1st. They added: "The

For Hillary Clinton, having her own baby grandchild to kiss on the campaign trail, could be one of the biggest boosts to her possible presidential election campaign. Although the former Secretary of State and First Lady has not said if she will run in 2016, the arrival of her first grandchild will soften her image, analysts have said. While Chelsea only revealed her pregnancy on Thursday, supporters of her mother have already started cooing over a possible baby in the White House. With the Clintons having a near-royal status in the U.S., the announcement of a new arrival due this fall has sent

GREENSBORO, Ga. — Golf holes the size of pizzas. Soccer balls on the back nine. A mulligan on every hole. These are some of the measures — some would say gimmicks — that golf courses across the country have experimented with to stop people from quitting the game. Golf has always reveled in its standards and rich tradition. But increasingly a victim of its own image and hidebound ways, golf has lost five million players in the last decade, according to the National Golf Foundation, with 20 percent of the existing 25 million golfers apt to quit in the next few years. People under 35 have especially spurned the game, saying it takes too

Hi, everybody. For millions of Americans, this time of year holds great meaning. Earlier this week, we hosted a Passover Seder at the White House, and joined Jewish families around the world in their re-tellings of the story of the Exodus and the victory of faith over oppression. And this Sunday, Michelle, Malia, Sasha, and I will join our fellow Christians around the world in celebrating the Resurrection of Christ, the salvation he offered the world, and the hope that comes with the Easter season. These holy days have their roots in miracles that took place long ago. And yet, they still inspire us, guide us, and strengthen us today. They remind us of our

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Thursday that a family of dissident ranchers and their supporters in his home state of Nevada are ´domestic terrorists,´ citing this week´s standoff with the federal government´s Bureau of Land Management. Cliven Bundy has refused to pay grazing fees for land where his hundreds of cattle roam every day. The land is owned by the federal government, which says he owes more than $1 million. Bundy, however, insists that since his family has been using the land since the 1870s, Uncle Sam can´t collect the grazing fees. A tense standoff developed this week after
