Middle-Class Backers Shocked
Obama Raised Their Taxes

Investor´s Business Daily, by Editorial

Original Article

Posted By:earlybird, 1/7/2013 10:25:18 PM

Dyed-blue-in-the-wool supporters of President Obama are blue as can be after opening their paychecks and discovering that "ordinary folks," as the president likes to call them, got slapped with a sizeable tax hike on New Year´s Day. "What happened?" was the exclamation found repeatedly by the Washington Times´ Joseph Curl as he surveyed commentaries posted on liberal websites. "What happened that my Social Security withholding in my paycheck just went up?" a DemocraticUnderground.com post asked. "I guarantee this decrease is gonna hurt me more than the increase in income taxes will hurt those making over 400 grand. What happened?"

Comments:
Joseph Curl´s article was posted here earlier today...

They just got a one year 2% reduction on their social security taxes. Now it is back on so there were no taxes raised but that the 2% reduction expired. Of course, if you are a lib, you think you are entitled.

Will these same people now admit that the Bush "tax cuts for the rich" were actually beneficial to everyone, not only the rich, as we´ve been hearing and hearing and hearing for the past many years. The media didn´t hype the wide-spread tax cuts when they were provided by the Bush administration, but now that they have disappeared, the public does finally notice. Who will they blame? Most likely President Bush for not making them permanent in the first place.

Over the holidays, a brilliant young man was among our visitors. He was shocked that the rise in Social Security withholding is going to cost him and his new wife over $1,500 this year.

He looked surprised when I pointed out that the lower rate was temporary, and he should never have expected it to be permanent. He said he voted for Obama (twice) because he expected him to help the middle-class.

I said, you have a lot to learn, and this is a good first lesson. Politicians lie.

What happened to all those Dems and lefties who kept saying that they would ba happy to pay more taxes and that thought we don´t get taxed enough??? I remember reading all sorts of comments like that on various news sites in the comments area. Were they all lying? Or were they kidding themselves? Either way, it is clear that what they thought was ideal doesn´t jibe with reality.

Reply 24 - Posted by: MissMann, 1/8/2013 2:44:14 AM     (No. 9104325)

Social Security is supposed to be "paid for" by withholding funds from our paychecks. It was a stupid idea to "suspend" collection of this money in the first place, especially with Social Security on its way to collapse.

What is sad to me is that there are SO many Americans who believe now they should get something for nothing. They shouldn´t have to pay for their benefits--make someone else do it.

I really, really dislike this taking such a hold in my beloved country.

Reply 25 - Posted by: Spidey, 1/8/2013 3:46:22 AM     (No. 9104341)

I still think these people are a bunch of trolls, trying to gin up a movement to pressure Obama into lowering the rates again. For one thing most employers hold a week back,so they haven´t seen a new year´s check yet.

We´ll find out in a couple of weeks when Obama wants to slip it back in the debt ceiling debate.

The government is crazy the way it works anyway. For years they raided SS for normal spending, last year they had to raid the normal budget to pay for this tax cut and more people getting on disability.I´m glad I´m not a government accountant or the smoke from my brain would set the detector off.

While I think it is funny that the dems are so stupid, the "payroll tax holiday" was a lousy idea to begin with. It took a program already in serious financial trouble and made it even worse. Do these dopes think their Social Security retirement comes for free? THEY are supposed to pay for it. If they were fiscally responsible people, they would save and invest on their own and be FAR better off than letting the goobermint mismanage their retirement. But they are not, as their comments show. Thus Social Security was born, to enforce retirement savings for fiscal incompetents and because the government is running it, of course it became a disaster.

BO delivers nothing but pain to the middle class and the majority of them are too dumb to figure it out. We get the government we deserve.

You think they would have learned by now that working people eventually have to pay for the votes of parasites. They´ve been multiplying, you see. Sheesh, people, you got rolled and more is coming!

There aren´t enough rich people for EVERYONE to ride on their backs, and virtually all parasites vote Dem, so they take priority. Too many working people vote Republican, so why help them out by making welfare recipients work, and kicking able-bodied people out of SSI benefits?

These taxes on the rich or anybody else are so unnecessary. Scrap the SS fica taxes completely. Scrap the income tax. Send out trillions to all the pension funds to make them good and while you are at it establish generous pension funds for all the non union, non public sector citizens and any illegal aliens who come along. Throw in free medical care for all. Just mint the magical Trillion dollar platinum coins with Obama on the face of it by the hundreds and deposit them in the treasury./s

A neighbor, who is self employed, is actually under the delusion there is nothing wrong with Social Security that taxing more of those greedy Republican millionaire Northern bankers won´t cure. I tried to point out to him that Wall Street has been Democrat for some time now but he know what he knows and can´t be convinced the Democrats are no longer the friend of the working man and woman.

I was going to say what #24 said. There never should have been a cut in SS withholding. The program is almost underwater anyway, and this was a brain p))t of 0bama´s.

It will take more than this to make Dhims understand that 0bama is to blame for his own policies.

I have a cousin who is a dyed-in-the-wool 0bamabot. NOTHING will change her mind that it´s Bush´s fault. She´s Bob Beckel in drag. She and her husband both work, but they don´t mind sitting on the front porch without a/c in GA in the summer. We do!

The 10 year lie that the Bush tax was for the rich. And regular folk got nothing should have been apparent. But if GOP had let things go over the cliff, the we would have paid the Clinton tax. We all remember how the Clinton years were nirvana. So let the Rat lemmings pay Clinton tax for a year.
They would beg for the Bush tax cuts.

The amazing thing is the dems are just getting started. They are going to start trying to get more off the so called rich, but it will have hidden taxes on everybody. If you work for a living I don´t know how you can vote dem.
By the way a few years ago when Sen Laughtenberger from NJ was asked to define rich he said a couple making 75K a year reached that mark. This is the thinking of many dems in congress.

Two consequences of the payroll 1-year two percent holiday that went over lib heads. First, the 2 percent had to be taken from general revenue to make up any shortfall to pay SS. And, final SS computations are based on amount paid in. Two percent less for a year will lower the final calculation, thus lowering SS payments upon retirement. Doh! Who saw that?

The problem we have is that the average person in this country is very ill informed. Frankly, if you read your local newspaper daily and listened to network news you´d be ill informed too.

I learned a long time ago that leftists are what I like to call explicitly deceitful. They´ll make a big point about "income" taxes not going up on the middle class, all the while knowing that the SS taxes were going to go up. It´s the same way they play the game about rich people and tax rates. So what if the tax rate goes up on the wealthiest Americans? Most of them aren´t drawing "income" so the income tax doesn´t affect them. My husband used to work for an accounting firm whose business was handling rich people´s money. They´d have envelopes of cash delivered to their homes or offices, and all of their bills would go to the accountants to be paid. Some of these people only looked at their financials a couple of times a year and paid very little in taxes.

What I´m waiting for is the shock when people who think they´re going to be getting free medical care find out that they´re going to be paying a lot more for a lot less. I can´t tell you how many people I know who actually are looking forward to 2014 because they think they´ll have a lot of extra money when they no longer have to pay their healthcare copays. I´ve tried to tell them the truth, but they think I´m just lying to them because I´m a Republican. I wonder how many of them will admit I was right?

Starts with "S" and ends with "uckers", with anywhere from 0 to 12 letters in between.

Seven months we’ve been waiting for someone, anyone, to ask the White House staff what was President Obama doing on the night the Benghazi attacks took place. We have researched this on our own and have him tracked from 4pm to around 7:30pm (EST). But after 7:30pm it is a total BLACKOUT – an unknown void of information. Finally after seven MONTHS. Chris Wallace asks White House Communications Director, Dan Pfeiffer, what was President Obama doing. (Snip) they are hiding what actually took place that night. They are desperately trying to cover the President’s intentional uninvolvement.

White House advisor Dan Pfeiffer said “the law is irrelevant” when asked by ABC’s George Stephanopoulos Sunday about whether President Obama thought the IRS’ targeting of conservative groups was illegal: Stephanopoulos: What does the president believe? Does the president believe that would be illegal? Pfeiffer: I can’t speak to the law here. The law is irrelevant. The activity was outrageous (Snip) Stephanopoulos: You don’t really mean the law is irrelevant, do you? Pfeiffer: What I mean is whether it’s legal or illegal is not important to the fact that the conduct doesn’t matter.

A former Philadelphia police officer, once hailed as a hero and given a seat next to the first lady at a 2009 speech by President Obama, has been arrested and charged with rape and other crimes. Authorities allege that Richard DeCoatsworth left a party with two females early Thursday and took them to another location, where they allege that he produced a handgun and “forced the two females to engage in the use of narcotics and sexual acts.”(Snip)DeCoatsworth was hailed as a hero after he was shot in the face during a traffic stop in September 2007 but still

IG letter to Geithner: Targeting

Treasury officials were made aware in June 2012 that the IRS inspector general was reviewing the office that handles tax-exempt applications, but a letter from October shows that the inspector general did not highlight the audit as a top concern for the agency. In a memo dated October 15, 2012, to then-Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner about IRS challenges for 2013, Inspector General J. Russell George noted other problem areas, but made no mention of the investigation taking place at the time of the agency´s intense scrutiny of conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status.

IRS breaks the rules

It eventually comes down to who — who at the IRS was responsible for targeting conservative and Tea Party groups for special scrutiny. Because, after all, you can’t put a “system” in jail. You can’t put a report in prison. You can’t indict a department for corruption. At the end of the day it’s people who are responsible for using the enormous powers of the Internal Revenue Service to go after other people and groups because of their political beliefs. U.S. Rep. Kevin Brady (R-Texas) told the tale of one of his constituents who applied for tax-exempt status for her Tea Party group in July 2010.

Flesh-eating bacteria amputee Aimee Copeland now uses the latest technology in prosthetic hands to chop vegetables, pick up tiny items like Skittles, and comb and iron press her hair. With the bionic hands, Copeland is looking forward to cleaning her house -- she´s a neat freak, she tells CNN -- and cooking her own food. She´s something of a foodie but has been able to eat only microwaveable foods, she adds. WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. Inspector General Russell George said he informed a deputy at the Treasury Department in June of 2012 about the probe into the IRS. The Treasury Department confirmed the timeline but said they did not know the details of the investigation until last week.(Snip)Marcus Owens ran the tax-exempt division at the IRS for 10 years. What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry “offensive.” Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to “move on” and are warning the likes of FNC off:(Snip for video)The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

A senior adviser to President Obama mounted a combative defense of the administration on Sunday, saying the controversies enveloping the White House were the result of Republican lawmakers’ trying to “drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped-up hearings and false allegations.”The remarks came from Dan Pfeiffer, a member of the president’s inner circle, as he appeared on all five major Sunday morning talk shows in an effort to move the administration past what commentators have described as a “hell week” of controversy and missteps.

Stuart Varney said this morning on "Varney & Co." that one of his producers was given a questionnaire with some surprisingly intrusive questions on it when he switched doctors. One of the questions was whether he/she was concerned about unsecured weapons in the home. Another asked whether he/she was "in a relationship in which you have been physically hurt or are you afraid of your partner?" Judge Andrew Napolitano explained that the question about guns comes out of a post-Sandy Hook executive order by President Obama, but it will be required under Obamacare. Varney expressed amazement
