| WASHINGTON (AP) - In Connecticut and Colorado, scenes of the most deadly U.S. mass shootings in 2012, people were less enthusiastic about buying new guns at the end of the year than in most other states, according to an Associated Press analysis of new FBI data. The biggest surges in background checks for people who want to carry or buy guns occurred in states in the South and West. (Snip) Nationally, there were nearly twice as many more background checks for firearms between November and December than during the same time period one year ago.

A feeble and failed attempt at correlation. Clearly, Ms. Sullivan and friends were not here to the see the most recent Tanner Gun Show in Denver, where lines were an hour + just to get in the door. In addition, she may be relying on a media sleight-of-hand: background checks which once took minutes are now up to nine (9) DAYS in Colorado.

Gun show in Rochester, NY this weekend: long lines, extremely high prices and people were happy to wait and pay. If gun sales in Colorado and Connecticut are down from last week, perhaps it´s because all local purveyors of firearms and related equipment are sold out.

Agree with the posters. All my local places are completely sold out of .223 and .308. Precious little of anything else, and prices have risen like a rocket.
Forget buying a semi auto gun. There aren´t any left.

Using "statistics" to lie again. Do the math the increase in CT is actually higher than the increase in Tennessee. CT applications are up 56%, TN applications are up 54% and CO applications are up 53%.
Doesn´t sound like a huge cry for Gun Control from CO and CT to me, or any other thinking person.

Long lines for the gun show in Tulsa this weekend. I was told people buying everything in sight. Guns were being sold at twice the price and ammo 5X normal prices.
Can´t buy 22LR anywhere at the stores. But I heard from a pretty good source that one dealer in town has the ammo, but is selling 100 rounds for $30.

Folks in C0lorado are alre3ady stocked up on guns. No need to run out and buy. I don´t know about Connecticut. The northeast U.S. is too liberal and depends upon the mercy of criminals.

Long lines in Tampa Saturday. A friend went and ended up selling his shotgun to someone else in line. He couldn´t wait 4 hours just to get in the show.

Dis-information campaign posing as news reporting. Salt Lake City gun show this weekend sold out AR15 ammo before lunch the first day. People camped out to be first in line.

Everything is sold out in Colorado. Plus, at the gun shows you can´t get guns until days later so it´s less attracive to go right now.

I was at the Bass Pro shop on Sunday afternoon. the gun department was mobbed, the busiest section of that store and that store is pretty heavily visited. I could not get near the counter and people looked pretty happy and excited. Men, women, young adults shopping their little hearts out.

Note the percentage figures cited above. Increases above 50 percent in each state are cited as evidence of indifference or fear of gun ownership. Liars.

DENVER - A group of Colorado sheriffs unhappy with recent gun control laws are planning to file a lawsuit to block them. The sheriffs have called a Friday morning news conference to detail their federal challenge. The lawmen said they would challenge two new laws, one limiting the size of ammunition magazines and another law to expand gun background checks. The laws were passed earlier this year in response to mass shootings in Aurora and at a school in Connecticut. Not all sheriffs opposed the bills, but some were frequent visitors to the state Capitol in an effort to prevent the gun controls.

Washington - Boston Mayor Tom Menino says information he has indicates that the suspects in the Boston Marathon bombing acted alone. Menino tells ABC's "This Week" that he agreed with the decision to lock down Boston all day Friday, based on information officials had at the time. He tells ABC's "This Week" that a pipe bomb was found at another location and that another person was taken into custody. The mayor did not elaborate. But their path to enacting gun curbs this year seems blocked by the National Rifle Association, and supporters of restrictions appear befuddled about what it will take to push legislation through this Congress. The Senate planned to vote Thursday on two more amendments to a gun control bill. One by Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyo., would cut aid to state and local governments that release information on gun owners.

William Strickland waited for his grandfather to step out of his South Side home to take his paratransit ride to a kidney dialysis appointment early March 2, authorities said Saturday — then stood behind the 72-year-old man, shot him six times in the back and stole his wallet, leaving him to die just steps from his home. Prosecutors said Saturday that Strickland, 19, used the money he took from his grandfather, who also was named William Strickland, to pay for new gym shoes, a cellphone and tattoos. The teen had no criminal history but was an admitted gang member, they said.

The Second Amendment´s guarantee of a right to bear arms does not extend to the right to carry a concealed weapon in public, a federal appeals court in Denver has ruled. One of two men allegedly being questioned in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings was shot and killed by an FBI agent in Florida on Tuesday, (Snip)A friend of Ibragim Todashev said he and Todashev were being investigated as part of the Boston bombings. He said Todashev, 27, knew bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev because both were MMA fighters. The man claims he and Todashev were interviewed by the FBI for nearly three hours on Tuesday. The friend said he left the interview, and when he came back to the apartment he found that there had been a shooting.

Longoria, 38, took home a real degree (not an honorary one) in Chicano studies from Cal State Northridge, where she physically attended classes for three years, according to TMZ. "Big day today!!!
