| The 19-year-old son of U.S. Sen. Rand Paul was charged with underage drinking and disorderly conduct after being arrested over the weekend at North Carolina´s Charlotte Douglas International Airport, authorities said. William Hilton Paul was arrested Saturday following a flight from Kentucky to North Carolina, according to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff´s Office in Charlotte.(Snip) The senator´s office released a statement calling the issue a private family matter. "Sen. Paul is a national public figure and subject to scrutiny in the public arena, however, as many parents with teenagers would understand, his family should be afforded the privacy

Yes, but the timing is suspicious to me. There were articles just this morning touting a potential Rand Paul presidential run. What a coincidence that his son gets arrested (was TSA involved?) the very same day.
Not saying his son wasn´t drinking under age on the plane, but who ratted him out? The airline that broke the law and served him? TSA?
All very strange to me...

Yes, the timing is suspicious. But I question AP for their reporting. Not one blip on Chicagoland.

This is a non-issue. If CNN wants to sling mud as opposed to being political, they could have gone after Gore Jr or any one of the Kennedy clan. Remember when the Clintons declared Chelsea "off limits".

Shouldn´t Rand Pauls son be given the same deference Chelsea Clinton was afforded when she was caught drinking underage in college?
Oh, never mind, except that it is kind of odd that CNN didn´t identify Paul as a republican in the first sentence. The political officer must have still been on vacation to miss that ommission.

There wasn´t much (any?) publicity when Gore´s 16 year old daughter was caught drinking/drunk. Not like when the Bush twins were drinking under age, just under the legal age. I wonder why? /S

Hey CNN, Here´s a real challenge. If possible, find out who fathered Barack Obama, Barry Sotero, or whatever his name is.
My bet would be that the authentic birth certificate would be missing the father´s name or be noted as "unknown."

Odd how this came down, don´t you think? How long is the flight from KY to NC? Less than an hour.
I am Delta Platinum and often fly in First. Many times, you can´t get a pre-flight drink, and once airborne, they don´t serve until the flight has been underway for 15 minutes or so. Refills are slow, but I am not drinking to get inebriated, so on a Friday trip home, two drinks is my limit for a flight.
There isn´t enough time on that flight to:
1) get yourself drunk 2) cause trouble because you´re drunk
This smells like a set-up. I didn´t read where the flight crew was cited for serving a baby-faced minor alcohol.

On Melissa Harris-Perry Saturday morning, David Cay Johnston, an investigative reporter and professor at Syracuse University College of Law, lambasted the Obama Administration as hermetically sealed toward journalists, even in comparison to the Bush and Reagan administrations. Following a discussion on the President’s drone speech, in which the panel agreed that while drones are here to stay, the true problem is the lack of visibility and accountability into their use, Johnston expanded the point to a larger condemnation of the White House’s lack of transparency.

The emergency operating room where doctors tried to save President Kennedy´s life after he was shot has been broken into pieces and covertly stored in crates for years, guarded as if it were a state secret. As the 50th anniversary in November of the President´s assassination nears, an investigative team from local Dallas station WFAA went digging for the exact location of the broken tiles and medical equipment used on that fateful day. They found that the room was formally destroyed in 1972 when Parkland Hospital was going through an expansion and Trauma Room 1 had to be demolished.

CRAWFORD —Former President George W. Bush needed little help to blaze a trail Friday for 14 veterans mountain biking with him through open prairies, slick ravines and steep canyons. That’s because he brought the third annual Warrior 100K Ride — a three-day mountain biking trek to honor service members injured in Afghanistan and Iraq — to the well-worn paths at his Prairie Chapel Ranch outside of Waco. But even as Bush welcomed the wounded warriors to his home to thank them for their service, he made clear that his mission to help veterans extends well beyond the trails

Every Memorial Day, when I run into the grocery store to pick up those last minute items for the three day weekend’s picnic, I’m met with members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) selling their poppies. We cherish, too, the poppy red/ that grows on fields where valor led; It seems to signal to the skies/that blood of heroes never dies-- “We Shall Keep the Faith” by Moina Michael -I remember as a kid that it was very common to see paper poppies being sold around Memorial Day. Conservative radio host Mark Levin is very skeptical of the idea that President Obama had absolutely no idea about the IRS tea party targeting before the story broke in the news mere weeks ago. Levin declared adamantly that it is a “flat-out, bald-faced lie” that Obama didn’t know beforehand, citing prior reports by a few conservative news outlets picking up on the news well before the 2012 presidential election. Levin said, “I don’t believe for two seconds that Obama wasn’t aware of this.”

President Obama on Thursday nominated Victoria Nuland, a State Department official involved in the editing of the administration´s talking points on Benghazi, to be the next assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs. Nuland, a career foreign service officer who was until recently State´s top spokesperson, had long been expected to be nominated the post to replace Philip Gordon, who Obama picked to serve as Middle East coordinator for the National Security Council. Nuland´s nomination -- which requires Senate confirmation -- could come under scrutiny from Republicans who see her as playing a central role in shaping

Anthony Weiner’s New York mayoral candidacy was only made more improbable today after he revealed that he visited a Houston psychiatric facility following his resignation from Congress in 2011. Haunted by scandal surrounding his sexually explicit online communications with women, the Democratic former congressman sought treatment for his compulsive behavior from mental health professionals at the Gabbard Center. According to its website, the facility provides “3-day outpatient psychiatric evaluation,” particularly to “professionals who are in personal or professional crises.” While Weiner did not disclose

Washington rumor has it that Obama wants to be U.N. Secretary General. There are several reasons that make that likely, and if it´s true, it throws new light on a lot of Obama´s oddities -- including his Royalty Bows, his Apology Tours, his Muslim Sellout, and the Benghazi Cover-Up. But first -- why would Obama be planning to become the chief of the U.N. before he has even finished his second term?

On Wednesday, Drummer Lee Rigby of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, a man who had served Queen and country honorably in the hell of Helmand Province in Afghanistan, emerged from his barracks on Wellington Street, named after the Duke thereof, in southeast London. Minutes later, he was hacked to death in broad daylight and in full view of onlookers by two men with machetes who crowed "Allahu Akbar!" as they dumped his carcass in the middle of the street like so much roadkill. As grotesque as this act of savagery was, the aftermath was even more unsettling

MARK LEVIN: So why didn´t Chairman Issa hold an investigative hearing a year ago? Why didn´t Chairman Camp, all Republicans, hold an investigative hearing a year ago, and all the other tripping over themselves right now? I´ll tell you why. Because the establishment Republicans, the RINO Republicans, despise the Tea Party. They despise the conservative movement. We exist to be managed, to be shuttled to the polling place, to vote for their candidates. The Karl Roves of the world, and all the rest of them. They fight us in the primaries, they fight us at the grassroots.

Fox News chief Roger Ailes has sent a memo to his subordinates at the leading cable news network. He sent this memo to his staff today in connection with the federal investigation into an alleged leak to Fox News reporter James Rosen, a story that the Washington Post’s Ann E. Marimow broke earlier this week. The memo’s a masterpiece, too. For all those who wonder what it is about Ailes that endears his people to him — and that makes him such a good interviewee for any media reporter lucky enough to get an audience
