I´ve long lectured my kids about "rules-don´t apply-to-me!" attitudes. It´s those little personal behaviors that must be tended to. The please and thank-you´s, yes ma´am and no sir. Don´t throw trash on the ground. Return borrowed things promptly and in better condition than when you got it. A prime example was shopping carts in the grocery lot. All around were the carts where some folks didn´t feel the need to return them to the little cages. That´s where they go, that´s where the store implores us to put them for EVERYONE´s safety and convenience. And I told them - while on your way to putting the cart away - to pick up someone eles´s who didn´t, it would be nice. Little common courtesies that make life nicer for all. SOME folks feel those rules don´t apply to themselves. Lotsa folks, it seems.

I´m not a fan of hers, but all she had to do was say she was eating alone. She would have been seated, then when daughter arrived ask to have another place setting.

Good for LaScala! I have watched restaurants and other venues bow and scrape to celebs way too often over the years (even getting their luggage off a plane lst) while we "little people" sit and mutter. A real recommendation for the restaurant!!!!!!!

A little off topic, but we have some friends who, some years ago, went to one of her concerts. During the performance she said she would answer questions from the audience, but then only took questions from Blacks in the audience.

This 68+ grandmother can afford to get padded and spackled since she’s earned a ton and was married to the late Norwegian billionaire Arne Næss, for whom she bore two sons. Not a bad photo of her at the Kennedy Center Awards when W presented it to her. Years ago the supervisor of my very small department decided to treat us all to lunch for Christmas at a restaurant with this "party must be complete to be seated" policy. I drove separately & stopped at the post office on the way but they had already gotten a table by telling the server their party´s missing person (me) was in the ladies´ room. They would´ve gotten away with it if immediately upon joining them I hadn´t asked "where´s the ladies´?"

I have been conducting a little experiment for about a year to see if others would do the same. I take an empty cart from the lot when I go into the store. In a year-maybe three others have copied me.
