| While in the midst of a wholesale reevaluation of the right to private property, it is timely to reexamine the history of US property rights. What exactly caused America’s unparallelled level of prosperity and freedom? Certainly our economic success then created unparallelled global influence and military might. But what factors allowed America’s stunning growth in economic power in such a short period of time? This economic success was driven by a firm Rule of Law regime which supported the Constitution’s unique defense of private property.

The left already started this movement with property seizures as part of their "greater good" meme.
They´re also pushing this concept of "the commons"which basically means the whole community has a share in all property,even if the land is privately owned.In other words the government allows you to have a building to render services from but it´s still communal property.
the left is always coming up with these wacky concepts that initially get laughed off,then become law when nobody´s looking.

The only time Obama and Washington politicians refer to the Constitution is when they take their oath of office. After that, forget it.

The countries which do not have strong laws to provide protection for property rights cannot attract investors. My daughter in law is from the Philippines and I was amazed to find that they have no system for the orderly transfer of houses (I don´t know about business property). If someone wishes to sell his house he finds someone who wants to buy one and there is a handshake and the so called original owner moves out and the buyer gives him some payment and moves in and takes over the expenses. They try to find friends or family to deal with. I found this out when I had a discussion friends of my daughter in law. Someone had died there and I started with "well, first you have to record a death certificate" , etc. They looked at me as though I was from Mars.

We are in the midst of the worst Washington scandal since Watergate. The reputation of the Obama White House has, among conservatives, gone from sketchy to sinister, and, among liberals, from unsatisfying to dangerous. No one likes what they´re seeing. The Justice Department assault on the Associated Press and the ugly politicization of the Internal Revenue Service have left the administration´s credibility deeply, probably irretrievably damaged. They don´t look jerky now, they look dirty. The patina of high-mindedness the president enjoyed is gone. Something big has shifted.

There is a keen Kennedy-like vigor to Joe Biden that overwhelms any room. As was once said of Theodore Roosevelt, he, too, wants to be the bride at every wedding and the corpse at every funeral. Unlike President Obama, who speaks in interviews with Hemingway-esque sparseness, Biden rambles like Thomas Wolfe, painting a robust picture of an ever-changing America where coal miners will soon be working in clean-tech jobs, gun-safety laws will be tougher and China will be reined in by the White House from poisoning the planet with megatons of choking pollutants.

The controversy embroiling the IRS kicked up another storm of rhetoric Monday over enforcement of campaign finance laws. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell connected allegations that the IRS improperly targeted conservative groups for extra scrutiny to a Democratic-led effort to expand campaign finance disclosure requirements known as the DISCLOSE Act. McConnell told the National Review that the bill to require corporations, unions and super PACS to report large expenditures “should go nowhere.”

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd. Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee Wednesday.

Stuart Varney said this morning on "Varney & Co." that one of his producers was given a questionnaire with some surprisingly intrusive questions on it when he switched doctors. One of the questions was whether he/she was concerned about unsecured weapons in the home. Another asked whether he/she was "in a relationship in which you have been physically hurt or are you afraid of your partner?" Judge Andrew Napolitano explained that the question about guns comes out of a post-Sandy Hook executive order by President Obama, but it will be required under Obamacare. Varney expressed amazement
