Inside #FireBoehner
National Review Online, by Robert Costa

Original Article

Posted By:StormCnter, 1/5/2013 2:20:42 PM

It all started, as things tend to these days, on Twitter. Ron Meyer Jr., a 23-year-old conservative activist, started using a catchy hashtag — #FireBoehner — as he railed against Speaker John Boehner. The hashtag quickly became a pet project. All day, Meyer (@RonMeyerJr) would tweet links and snarky comments about the Ohio Republican, whom he calls “a member of the Beltway class.” Meyer, however, has fewer than 2,000 followers, so the hashtag didn’t get much attention until his girlfriend, fellow activist Celia Bigelow (@CeliaBigelow), who has more than 9,000 followers, joined the #FireBoehner cause. Pretty soon, their boss noticed.

Comments:
Whether or not you like Boehner, this account of the making of the fire-Boehner sausage is enlightening.

The kid didn´t learn much. Just that you can trust anyone in congress or anonymous sources. That´s a big duh.

Unless the speaker has blood on his hands or a mistress in his chambers he´s safe.

I like Bigelow´s credentials: A graduate of Hillsdale College, a premier conservative college and voice. I give the young man much credit for trying. Boehner is a failure as the house leader.

23-year old conservative activists...

aka...23-year old regular Americans recognizing the non-conservative RINOs in congress. Wonder if they need some funds, or other help?

Well, there´s been some people rallying around Boehner, saying he did the best he could under the circumstances while they´re leaving McConnell unscathed when he actually brokered the deal.

I actually think Boehner did a great job slowing down this ridiculous pork bill disguised as sandy relief.Even in the face of the bloviator from NJ.

Christie´s tenacity could be a good thing if it was in the right direction but expecting taxpayers across the country to foot the bill for pork so he can get his money,is disloyal to the party as a whole.

The real problem isn´t as much Boehner as it is the growing number of people who don´t give a crap about the rising debt.

Boehner is a disaster. The people who don´t care about the rising debt are the same ones who didn´t care when their own credit card debt spiraled out of control, as long as they could keep stretching it out.

Look, all this "best we could get, didn´t have the votes, had to give some tax hikes, we´re getting some cuts" and all the rest have a fatal flaw.

They fail to recognize what Obama is, and the destruction of the country he´s achieving.

Whether he´s Muslim, is hurting the country intentionally, is doing so from incompetence, is a Soros or ValJar puppet -- they´re all just other versions of the pointless time-wasters I mention above.

There´s just one job now. Just one.

Stop Obama.

One everything. At every turn. And get in front of every mike and camera to reprise the list of injuries to the US he´s inflicting every day.

A 23 y/o college student is the perfect standard bearer for the anti-Boehner knee jerkers. I bet this kid also thinks Mark Levin is a legal genius and has never heard of Burke, Bork, Buckley, or Scalia. Unfortunately, the conservative side is short on intellectual heft and long on bloviators with Twitter accounts.

What #4 and #7 said. If some would put in as much time trying to get rid of, oh let´s say dingy-harry reid, or even obama, it would be far more productive for the country. John Boehner has to fight off the "msm", obama, and every demonrat in Congress, so why is it so brilliant when one of our own sets out to destroy him? BTW, just WHO does this 23 year old "political-genius" think should replace Boehner?.. Never mind...

MONROEVILLE, Pa.—When the Texas Wesleyan Rams arrived here this month to defend their 10 straight national titles, the 14 players and coaches wore navy blue and gold track suits and carried matching bags. The walkie-talkies worn on the hips of tournament personnel crackled to life: "Texas Wesleyan has entered the building." The opposing teams,?most of whom brought only a handful of players, some in a mishmash of college sweatshirts,?stopped to watch in awe and dread. "We are the New York Yankees of table tennis," said Texas Wesleyan University Coach Jasna Rather. "Everybody hates our guts." Coach Ken Qiu of Mississippi

On upcoming trip, Obama

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama will leave Tuesday for a four-nation trip to Asia, looking to recharge a focus on the region, an ambitious initiative that’s been sidetracked by domestic politics and international conflicts elsewhere. Yet even as Obama attempts to boost his effort to emphasize U.S. interest in Asia, Russian President Vladimir Putin’s intervention in Ukraine is complicating efforts to reassure Asian nations _ which share the region with an increasingly assertive China - that the U.S. is committed to their security. The administration’s efforts to refocus U.S. policy toward Asia were already being questioned in the region with the departure

While the media is obsessed with the Koch brothers this campaign season, a billionaire hedge fund manager from San Francisco just bought off the White House to the tune of $100 million in order to delay the Keystone XL pipeline decision. From Fox News: The Obama administration once again has punted on a final decision for the Keystone XL pipeline, announcing ahead of the holiday weekend it is extending a key review period indefinitely — a move that could push off a determination until after the midterm elections. A painting of President Barack Obama by a shock artist with a rape fetish hung in the White House for at least two years. Artist David Choe, known for his graffiti and shock art, rose to minor fame after drawing the murals in Facebook’s first offices. He hosts a Vice show centered on hitchhiking, has shown Anthony Bourdain around Los Angeles on Bourdain’s CNN show, “Parts Unknown,” and one of his paintings graced the walls of the White House from at least 2008-2010. But Choe also has a rape fetish. On the podcast that he co-hosts with porn star Asa Akira, he

One of the Obama administration’s favorite themes is the idea that Republicans have been waging a “war on women.” Though Democrats may overestimate the appeal of this canard, the notion that troglodyte conservatives seek to send American women back to the 19th century has become a form of conventional wisdom, especially in the liberal mainstream media. But though that war is a piece of fakery rooted in the confusion between political liberalism and gender equality, there is little doubt about the reality of another war on women: the one that is being waged by left-wing ideologues against any female Republican

Turning the tables remains the first refuge of liars called on their mendacity. “I was hurt,” Elizabeth Warren relays in her new autobiography, “and I was angry.” The second-year senator speaks of her 2012 political opponent using her claims of Native American ancestry against her during the campaign. Elizabeth Warren could pass for Bull Connor’s sister. She couldn’t pass for Sitting Bull’s second cousin five times removed. So when the 2012 debate descended into genealogists arguing over whether Warren’s great-great-great grandmother was or wasn’t partly Cherokee, the law-professor-turned-candidate winning the question meant that she had already lost it. How would American Indian

Some good folks are pig-biting mad about my recent article noting that the rate of foreclosures has dropped dramatically as a result of the reinflation of the real estate market.(Snip for tweet)Some of the vituperation is coming from the usual gang of housing justice fairness activists incensed that anybody (let alone a majority of homeowners and experts) would oppose the practice of giving public assistance to people who borrowed money with no intention of paying it back. But a lot of the abuse stems from a sentiment I agree with — that declaring victory on mortgage defaults means you have

After presenting at the Academy Awards this year, Kim Novak didn’t want to leave her house. The Hitchcock screen siren, 81, was too humiliated to venture from her home near the Rogue River in Oregon. She read the cruel posts and Internet snark about her appearance, and it was just too much. “It got to me like it gets kids and teenagers,” she told the Associated Press. The “Vertigo” actress, considered one of the great beauties in her day, posted a note on her Facebook wall Thursday, acknowledging that she’d gotten fat injections in her face and addressing her halted

President Obama addressed the White House press corps today, announcing that with the final numbers in, Obamacare´s exchanges have attracted eight million sign-ups -- 35 percent of whom are "under the age of 35," he said. Several elements of his comments were misleading: (1) At first blush, the 35 percent stat is both significant and impressive. As recently as last month, the share of "young invincibles" signing up for plans was struggling in the 25 percent range, far short of the actuarial target of nearly 40 percent. A leap into the mid-30´s, while still shy of the goal, would constitute a major step, and would bode well for the risk pools'

It’s the stuff of Westerns: a showdown on the desert plains, the big bad government against an underdog farmer. A group of seven multiracial Washington and Lee University (W&L) students are demanding the school remove all Confederate flags from campus and "acknowledge" General Robert E. Lee´s "dishonorable side." According to the Roanoke Times, "seven multiracial students, calling themselves ´The Committee,´" have also demanded the school "acknowledge and apologize for participating in chattel slavery." They want recognition of "Martin Luther King Jr. Day on the undergraduate campus" and an end to "neo-Confederates" marching across campus "to the Lee Chapel on Lee-Jackson Day." To "honor the dignity and work of immigrants," Democratic House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi helps Bishop Marc Andrus wash the feet of two children Thursday at Saint John the Evangelist Episcopal Church in San Francisco. Pelosi also used the occasion to talk about passing HR15 - bipartisan immigration legislation that her office says would "reduce the deficit by nearly $1 trillion, secure our borders, unite our families, protect our workers and provide an earned pathway to citizenship." The Democratic leader´s ceremony coincides with Pope Francis´ similar ceremony in Rome to mark Holy Week.

Imagine a vendor on the National Mall, selling burgers and dogs, who hasn’t paid his rent in 20 years. He refuses to recognize his landlord, the National Park Service, as a legitimate authority. Every court has ruled against him, and fines have piled up. What’s more, the effluents from his food cart are having a detrimental effect on the spring grass in the capital. Would an armed posse come to his defense, aiming their guns at the park police? Would the lawbreaker get prime airtime on Fox News, breathless updates in the Drudge Report, a sympathetic ear from Tea Party Republicans?

First, the good news: We are close enough to the end of the Obama presidency for his crowd to talk about a presidential library. Now, the bad news: Obama´s retirement is still 1,008 days distant. Plenty of time though to round up the dough to build it somewhere. Figure they need Solyndra-style money, at least $500 million. The last two presidents – Bill Clinton and George W. Bush -- built their legacy edifices totally with private money. [Snip] However, Obama supporters have a different take. They think taxpayers should put up $100 million in public money for Obama´s library.
