| Senate Armed Services chief Carl Levin (D-Mich.) and senior panel member Sen. Jack Reed (D-R.I.) are heading to Afghanistan, days before the White House is expected to announce its highly anticipated postwar strategy. The visit is part of a week-long congressional junket beginning next Monday that includes stops to Turkey and NATO headquarters in Brussels, according to a statement released by Levin´s office on Friday. While in Afghanistan, the lawmakers will meet with "high-ranking foreign leaders, diplomats, and American military commanders, civilian personnel" and U.S. troops

Obama walked away from Iraq, a move that is detrimental to our long term national security. AQ is now regrouping and restoring itself there after they were defeated. That move alone showed his true colors. When we flee from Afghanistan, it will be taken over by the most extreme elements of Pakistan, AQ and the Taliban. Count on the ´diplomatic´ efforts of the next year to fail. He´s already ensured we are excluded from the new free trade agreement encompassing 3 billion people in Asia. Next up, nuclear surrender to Iran and Russia. Obama´s foreign policy is to reduce the U.S. to a second tier country as fast as possible and no one is doing anything to stop him. Thank you stay at home ´conservative´ voters.

Why not just wave the white flag from the White House windows? It will have the same meaning and will save the U.S. taxpayers a whole lot of money. What this treasonous bunch will end up doing is to put NATO or the UN in charge of the Afghan disaster and put our troops under their command. Think of the worst possible scenario and the obama admin won´t surprise you, ever. I find myself agreeing with #3.

You know,Bush hated anything that even suggested any hint of a surrender because he had respect for troops who lost their lives and dying in vain.Obama has no such respect or guilty feelings. For one thing,he didn´t start this war and didn´t like being stuck with it. But that´s no excuse for throwing in the towel after 4 years of fighting a half assed war to begin with.
The left always has and always will believe conflicts can be resolved sitting around a table. People are assuming Clinton had her problems to duck testifying but she´s also been a complete failure in Syria and a failure of diplomacy because Obama´s scared of Putin..So wars like that drag on while we look for escape hatches that will put millions of Afghan civilians at risk when we bail.

DAMASCUS, Va - At least 50 people were injured Saturday after a car struck a crowd of hikers in the Appalachian Trail Days parade in Damascus. A Virginia State Police reconstruction team has closed off the bridge where the incident happened and is investigating it as a crime scene. SAN JOSE— For most Americans in the United States, Armed Forces Day is not on the lists of likely holidays to honor the country’s military in celebrations of Memorial Day or Veteran’s Day. Sadly, most Americans may not even realize that Armed Forces Day is even a legitimate holiday. Armed Forces Day was established to be celebrated on the third Saturday in May. It started during Harry Truman’s administration when he led an effort to consolidate the various holidays supporting each separate branch of the military into a simple unified holiday to honor the four branches together.

Dorothy, the 14-year-old peregrine falcon that since 2002 has nested on a 40th-floor ledge of the Cathedral of Learning in Oakland, was perched on the limestone railing next to that nest and her lone chick shortly before 9 a.m. Friday. She´d just fed the 22-day-old chick a small bird for breakfast. "Baltimore oriole ... again," said Kate St. John, who blogs about the city´s peregrines. Someone else watching from the office inside the window next to the nest said it looked like Dorothy was calmly "chilling." Ms. St. John´s response was that nothing could be further from the truth.

WASHINGTON — An Internal Revenue Service watchdog testified Friday that he told Obama administration officials in June that he was looking into allegations the IRS targeted conservative groups for extra scrutiny when they applied for tax-exempt status. The revelation by Inspector General Russell George came at the first congressional hearing on the IRS misconduct, which has generated a political firestorm since it was disclosed a week ago. George’s testimony represented the first evidence that officials in the Obama administration knew of the allegations as long as a year ago, during the presidential campaign.

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.

The lawmaker leading the charge to investigate the Benghazi terror attack on Friday subpoenaed the co-author of a report that slammed the State Department but didn´t interview Hillary Clinton. House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) formally demanded that retired ambassador Thomas Pickering submit to being deposed by the committee next Thursday. The subpoena comes in the wake of a series of acrimonious public exchanges this week between the two men.
