| The Federal Election Commission has fined President Barack Obama´s 2008 campaign $375,000 for an assortment of reporting violations. FEC documents that have not yet been released publicly detail the violations, which include accepting contributions in excess of federal limits, incorrectly reporting the dates of contributions and failing to properly report contributions of $1,000 or more during the final days of the campaign. An audit uncovered the reporting violations. The Obama campaign agreed to correct the errors and pay the fine, according to the FEC documents.

That´ll learn ´em! /s No one in the Dem party nor anyone who voted for him are going to waste their time concerned about whether Obama won playing by the rules or not. Rules are for suckers. Just win baby. The low info voter dosen´t care about this. They vote Dem, then go vote for American Idol and Dancing with the Stars--to them there is no difference.

Only fined $375,000.00 ????? The Dimeocraps can pay that out of their Stimulus Stash.. If it had been on the Rpub side their would have been issued Jail Terms plus Big Fines...The Feds would have had to BUILD a couple more Country Club Prisons.

We are supposed to believe the campaign was audited and one tiny irregularity was found. Some underling transposed a number or two. This small fine will balance the books on this small event and restore our faith in the honesty of the democrat party.

Politico reporter Jonathan Martin is jumping from the six-year-old politics site to become the national political correspondent for the New York Times. A release from the New York Times says this is a big move: The job is a storied and special one at The Times, and has been home to such giants as Robin Toner, Adam Nagourney, Rick Berke, and, of course, R. W. Apple. As big a move as it is for the New York Times, it may be double for Politico, for Martin offers the sort of reporting that the site badly needs.

GREENBELT, Md.- NASA released a dramatic and revealing image of an erupting Alaskan volcano Thursday taken by astronauts aboard the International Space Station. The photograph is of the Pavlof Volcano, located in the Aleutian Arc about 625 miles southwest of Anchorage, the space agency said. The oblique perspective of the photo taken from the ISS when it was about 475 miles south-southeast of the volcano reveals the three dimensional structure of the ash plume, often obscured by the top-down view of most remote sensing satellites, NASA said.

CHICAGO -- The Obama administration has chosen a private attorney and former federal prosecutor who helped send former Illinois Gov. George Ryan to prison for corruption to head the U.S. attorney´s office in Chicago, Illinois´ senators announced Thursday. Zachary Fardon, 46, would replace Patrick Fitzgerald, who stepped down last summer to enter private practice. Fitzgerald rose to national prominence during more than a decade in the office and successfully convicted two Illinois governors, including Ryan. When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. The fact that this bit of information was conveyed to the protesters by a Department of Homeland Security officer who was also in attendance. Conservative radio host Mark Levin is very skeptical of the idea that President Obama had absolutely no idea about the IRS tea party targeting before the story broke in the news mere weeks ago. Levin declared adamantly that it is a “flat-out, bald-faced lie” that Obama didn’t know beforehand, citing prior reports by a few conservative news outlets picking up on the news well before the 2012 presidential election. Levin said, “I don’t believe for two seconds that Obama wasn’t aware of this.”

On “Fox News Sunday” last weekend, White House aide Dan Pfeiffer was asked about President Barack Obama’s whereabouts the night of the Sept. 11 attack in Benghazi. This was the night when we lost our first ambassador in 30 years, and when three other Americans were killed in an attack that lasted all night long at multiple locations within the eastern Libyan city. Since the president is commander in chief, one would think where he was and what he did during such an event would be of obvious public concern.
