| Arlington —Spencer Nealy did the team honors after coach Kevin Sumlin called a timeout late in Friday’s 41-13 thrashing of Oklahoma. The senior defensive tackle lifted quarterback Johnny Manziel over his head so that the pro Texas A&M crowd could fete the record-breaking freshman. It was obvious that Manziel suffered no rust from his whirling dervish of a nationwide Heisman tour. In the dismantling of former Big 12 rival, Manziel picked up another accolade to add to an already fantastic freshman resume — most valuable player of the Cotton Bowl.

I´m a Nebraska fan, but I´ve always rather liked A&M and I was delighted to see them thrash an old (although respected) Cornhusker foe.
Having seen A&M seemingly underperform on so many prior occasions, I had a bit of vertigo watching an A&M team look every bit as good, and in truth significantly better, than the highly ranked team they played. Where did that come from?

Good for A & M. Let´s hope the NCAA doesn´t conduct an "investigation" that results in probation. Elitist schools get wrist slaps for outrageous violations, schools such as A & M are used as examples.

And, I keep wondering where and why have all these amazing Freshmen across the spectrum come forth this year? What happened 18-20 years ago?

I´ve been saying since the Aggies beat Alabama they are the best team in college football and after last nights shellacking of a above average OU team I know I am right. If there were a true playoff system the Aggies would be the team to beat in my opinion.

Can a female be a curmudgeon? If so, I probably am one in the case of Jerry Jones´ financial theft of the REAL Cotton Bowl´s Cotton Bowl game. Yes, I know, the Cotton Bowl folks agreed to it and all that, but it´s not a Cotton Bowl game anymore, no matter what they say. The Cotton Bowl facility is in Fair Park in Dallas. This game was played in Arlington in Jones´ Cowboy Stadium. If the Rose Bowl game was moved to San Diego, could they still call it a Rose Bowl game? I just HATE it! My family thinks I´m being petty and I probably am. But, you don´t get to carry the Cotton Bowl tradition to a place that´s not the Cotton Bowl.

Watching the Aggies perform that 4 down goal line stand when OU was on their 1 yard line was impressive. (I know they had an illegal motion penalty on down 4, but enough of the play happened to let me know they would not have gotten across the goal line)
And I agree with #5. That might be flavored by my serious dislike of all things Jerry Jones related...

I watched the entire game in order to see Manziel play for the first time. He´s everything the hype said and more. A stunning performance against a great team.
Wow!

The game was cleanly played by both teams as opposed to the team from the U of Florida who displayed their brand of intimidation and thuggery against Louisville at the Sugar Bowl.

Props to the Aggies offensive line as well as the quarterback. Great defense too. Cleanly played, yes, by both sides.

I agree, #5! There is only one Cotton Bowl and it ain´t in Arlington! Before this game, I was a skeptic about Manziel. This was the first time I had seen him play and he is everything as advertised. Oklahoma didn´t even make a show.

Boy, there´s nothing quite like an old, female football expert (LOL!) complaining about improving the venue for a football game. If you lived in Florida, I´ll bet you´d be griping about how the real Daytona 500 is down at the beach instead of being up there on that damned track the sissies drive on. NURSE!!!

#3, high schoolers are running complex offenses, pop warner kids are passing. There is stregnth and conditioning at the earliest levels. Before, you´d have a few freaks in part to genetics and steroids. Now, many of these kids work out year round and there are clinics that help them improve at these sports.

I´m with Stormie on this one. My elderly mom was peering confusedly at the tv & asking when they put a roof on the Cotton Bowl. IMO they should just call it the Jerryworld Bowl.

What´s up with the turf in Cowboy´s Stadium? A billion dollars, and the field looks a mottled mess. Props to Johnny Manziel and A&M, the conservative´s Texas University.

A federal court in San Francisco Tuesday struck down Arizona´s ban on abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the law violates a string of U.S. Supreme Court rulings starting with Roe v. Wade that guarantees a woman´s right to an abortion before a fetus is able to survive outside the womb. That´s generally considered to be about 24 weeks. Normal pregnancies run about 40 weeks. Several states have enacted similar bans starting at 20 weeks. But the 9th Circuit´s ruling is binding only in the nine Western states

CBS News has a piece quietly mocking a Benghazi whistleblower for writing poetry in a classic example of how the MSM marginalizes opponents of Barack Obama: Raymond Maxwell, who was one of Hillary Clinton’s State Department officials who was disciplined for security lapses vis-à-vis Benghazi, has been writing poetry since he was put on leave. Significantly, some of the poetry deals with Maxwell’s frustration at being made a scapegoat: The web of lies they weave / gets tighter and tighter / in its deceit / until it bottoms out - / at a very low frequency - / and implodes...

President Obama and his allies in the House and Senate may have failed in their attempt to channel shock and anger over Newtown into passing strict new gun control legislation, but it wasn´t for lack of trying. The quick pivot from tragedy to legislation is just another indication that one party has a knack for legislating while the other spends most of its time saying no, or offering watered down versions of its opponents´ legislation. That seeming inability to quickly connect moments of national outrage with meaningful legislation on the part of Republicans will be on display

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew was told about a government watchdog´s investigation of the Internal Revenue Service in mid-March but did not learn the full extent of its findings until they were released earlier this month. Lew told the Senate Banking Committee on Tuesday that he first learned about the possible problems during a "getting to know you" meeting with the Treasury´s inspector general for tax administration, J. Russell George, on March 15. At that meeting, George ran down a number of items for Lew, including the potential for "troubling findings" in regards to the agency´s handling of tax-exempt applications

On the heels of news that the Obama administration Department of Justice was spying on reporters at the Associated Press, Monday brought the startling disclosure by the Washington Post that the DOJ had also targeted Fox reporter James Rosen for surveillance in an effort to plug up leaks. Additionally, the New Yorker’s Ryan Lizza obtained the full application for a search warrant of Rosen’s personal email account, in which the DOJ accused him of being “an aider and abettor and/or co-conspirator.” As Lizza put it, “Rosen was not charged with any crime, but it is unprecedented for the government,

WASHINGTON— The man who led the Internal Revenue Service when it was giving extra scrutiny to tea party and other conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status told Congress on Tuesday that he knew little about what was happening while he was still commissioner. Douglas Shulman, who vacated his position last November when his five-year term expired, told the Senate Finance Committee he didn´t learn all the facts until he read last week´s report by a Treasury inspector general confirming the targeting strategy. In his first public remarks since the story broke, Shulman said: "I agree this is

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

So actually asked CNN´s Candy Crowley of her guest Sen. A senior adviser to President Obama mounted a combative defense of the administration on Sunday, saying the controversies enveloping the White House were the result of Republican lawmakers’ trying to “drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped-up hearings and false allegations.”The remarks came from Dan Pfeiffer, a member of the president’s inner circle, as he appeared on all five major Sunday morning talk shows in an effort to move the administration past what commentators have described as a “hell week” of controversy and missteps.

Stuart Varney said this morning on "Varney & Co." that one of his producers was given a questionnaire with some surprisingly intrusive questions on it when he switched doctors. One of the questions was whether he/she was concerned about unsecured weapons in the home. Another asked whether he/she was "in a relationship in which you have been physically hurt or are you afraid of your partner?" Judge Andrew Napolitano explained that the question about guns comes out of a post-Sandy Hook executive order by President Obama, but it will be required under Obamacare. Varney expressed amazement

While many Americans were tuned into news coverage of the massive damage from tornadoes ravaging the state of Oklahoma, Rhode Island Democratic Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse took to the Senate floor to rail against his Republican colleagues for denying the theory of anthropogenic global warming. Whitehouse spent 15 minutes chastising GOP senators and justified his remarks by alluding to states that seek federal assistance in the wake of natural disasters. “So, you may have a question for me,” Whitehouse said. “Why do you care? Why do you, Sheldon Whitehouse, Democrat of Rhode Island, care
