OK, can I set the priorities??

First, close any office or department (and furlough all employees) that spends a majority of their time in creating regulations.

Second, close all offices (and furlough all employees) of each and every Czar.

Third, close all departments (and furlough all employees) that do not enjoy specific authorization in the Constitution.

I bet they´ll kick the can again. Any takers?

I agree with Cornyn and think the pubs ought to start getting that message out NOW and keep hammering it home.

Start with the executive branch, leave Obama in Hawaii with no plane, no staff all he has is his snow cone.

Ignore this. He´s running for re-election in 2014 and if a candidate like Ted Cruz emerges, he could be toast. he supported TARP and the just passed Senate Fiscal Cliff legislation including the $76 Billion of Crony Capitalism in it.

I have usually liked Cornyn and would agree with home here, but it really chaps my hide when guys like him voted to support the fiscal cliff deal adding 6 trillion on new debt and essentially csving to Obama then try to come out and talk tough. Eat it guys. If you haven´t figured it out yet many like me are beyond trusting anything you say.

I donated big when Cornyn first ran for Senate but over the years I´ve watched him support Arlan Specter, Charlie Christ, & rush to hypothesize that parts of Obamacare could be worked with right after its passage. gag.

#11 has it right too about him. I am guessing that many who felt like me called in after his latest vote and turned up the heat on him. Plus, Cruz coming to the Senate is quite a comparison & not in a good way for Cornyn.

Meanwhile....., YES, shut down the government.

The deficit can only be tamed by two things:

1) Entitlement spending must fall. Period.

2) Washington must eliminate activities and programs.

But both of those require cooperation and realism by the House, Senate, and President. We don´t have it and there is no sign of a change.

Oh please the Republicans won´t shut down the government! You got to be kidding, the bad press they would get will get them to raising the debt ceiling limit faster than they agreed to raising taxes on the evil "rich" in this country. I can´t stomach Cornyn and his type who talk a good game and fold when tested and he is my Senator. Nothing will happen we will continue to spend a trillion dollars a year we don´t have on projects and department we don´t need. So get used to it.

Any non-essential agency should run at bare bones... and then the house can delay, delay, delay funding them!

To Cornyn: Keep only the military essential jobs and retirement/medicare funded. Drop the rest. If you really want to make waves, put forth a bill to completely wipe out the EPA, Dept of Ed and other useless agencies as well as cutting down UN funding to 5%. Another thing you can do is go to the OMB website and look at their program ratings for discretionary programs and wipe all those useless programs out.
