On January 2, Vanity Fair ran an all-out attack on the constitution, the 2nd Amendment, and common sense in a column by Kurt Eichenwald titled, "Let´s Repeal the Second Amendment." Eichenwald´s approach consists of attacking the NRA, arguing that gun owners avoid discussing more gun control by saying they don´t want to "politicize" shootings, and taking the standard progressive position that there wasn´t really a right to keep and bear arms until Justice Antonin Scalia created one in recent Supreme Court decisions. One of his criticisms of the NRA is that they opposed forcing "states to
Comments: The radical leftists are completely unhinged! Un.be.lievable.
Articles like this Vanity Fair piece (POS really), the Op-Ed in the NYT on suspending the Constitution don´t just appear randomly. They are trial balloons of the Left. A couple of years back there was a statement by then Gov/ of North Carolina to postpone the 2012 elections ´till the economy was fixed´. The White House beat a hasty retreat from that one. These sound like unhinged inebriated mouthings but should be taken seriously.
If our States issued liberal tags, four tags for $400 with no limit on how many times you could buy tags, we could probably completely fund our State governments from the revenue, the first year. The second year, we would have to change the tags to progressive tags, because there would not be anyone claiming to be a liberal.
I suggest the states vote on it - state by state. Those states that want to outlaw guns can form their own new country and the gun-haters won´t have to share a nation with nasty, evil, gun owners. Or at least none of their law-abiding civilians will have guns. You don´t want the constitution? Form your own separate country. I guarantee the rest of us will not fight to keep you from doing it. Heck, we´ll throw you a party!
I earned my Constitional Rights from 1968 to 1971, a little place called VietNam. I just wish that you idiots could come to the relatives of 12 of my Dear Friends who died in combat allowing you to change the same Constitution that you idiots want to change. Why don´t you put on a uniform and pick up a weapon to defend this Country? You idiots make me puke. No courage, just emotions from a bunch of POS´s.
This isn´t about the 2nd Amendment as such. This is about the whole Constitution. Getting rid of gun rights is just the point d´appui. I can´t tell if Seidman published too early in the process or if he represents an acceleration of the effort. The Constitution isn´t yet toast, but the heat is on.
President Barack Obama may be recalling the lessons and story of Nelson Mandela at a memorial in South Africa today, but a series of photographs on the internet suggest another story may be being told. A series of pictures posted on the twitter account of ‘Stun’ show President Obama chatting with the prime minister of Denmark, Helle Thorning-Schmidt, as Michelle Obama looks on in a not-so-pleased manner.
Four days before the legal deadline, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) said she had not yet signed up for Obamacare, but was still mulling over the plans and what might work best for her family. As of Dec. 9, the deadline for members of Congress, Wasserman’s office had not responded to CNSNews.com’s inquiry on whether the lawmaker had enrolled. In a CNN interview on Dec. 5, host Wolf Blitzer asked Rep. Wasserman Schultz, “Because you’re a member of Congress, you have to go to the healthcare.gov website. Have you done that already?” The congresswoman said, “Yes, I’m in the middle
Rep. Cory Gardner (R-Colo.) proposed legislation on Monday that would prevent the federal government from giving bonuses or raises to people who run state-level health insurance exchanges under ObamaCare. Gardner´s bill, H.R. 3679, is a response to a recent effort by Patty Fontneau, who runs Colorado´s health insurance exchange, to get a raise and bonus. Gardner said Fontneau is seeking a raise even though the Colorado exchange is far behind its enrollment target so far this year. The Denver Post reported just 6,000 Coloradans were signed up through mid-November, even though the exchange expected that enrollment of 11,000 people would be a
The 2013 winner of top political player on Capitol Hill is… Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.). The senator stands out as the leader of the Democrats’ historic move to go to the “nuclear option,” ending the paralysis by threat of filibuster that tied the Senate in knots for the last five years. The junior senator from the Beaver State showed a lot of political bite, in the form of persistence, and has become a left-wing hero as a result. Merkley, with a big assist from Sen. Tom Udall (D-N.M.), won the biggest vote of the year on Capitol Hill by convincing Democrats they were
Vice President Joe Biden on Tuesday will announce $100 million in government spending on mental health services, trumpeting the investment during a meeting with family members of victims from the massacre in Newtown, Conn. The Department of Health and Human Services will spend $50 million to “establish or expand behavioral health services for people living with mental illness or addiction” and the Department of Agriculture will finance another $50 million “for the construction, expansion or improvement of mental health facilities in rural areas over the next three years,” according to a White House official. The HHS funding is being made available
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, considered the nation´s second-most influential court behind the Supreme Court, now tilts Democratic, thanks to the Senate´s new filibuster rules. The Senate on Tuesday confirmed President Obama nominee Patricia Ann Millett to the appeals court, a long-delayed move that bring the bench´s judicial lineup to nine — with five judges appointed by Democratic presidents and four by Republicans. Millett, who was confirmed by a vote of 56-38, will be just the sixth woman ever to serve on the court in its 120-year history. "Patricia Millett has risen through the ranks of government
Not a single Republican voted for the Affordable Care Act, but they must now help Democrats make the law work, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said on the Senate floor Monday. Although the rollout of the Obamacare website was "rocky," many of the major problems have been fixed, he said. "There are still problems with the Affordable Care Act and ways we can make it better. But we can´t improve the law without help from reasonable Republicans. It´s time for my Republican colleagues to give up their fantasy of repealing a law that´s already benefiting tens of millions of Americans and start
A veteran Washington adviser who has worked for four Presidents on both sides of the political aisle said that the stunning Government Accountability Report report that found President Barack Obama has not had a one-on-one meeting with Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius since the passage of Obamacare over three years ago is an indictment of the entire White House operation and shows that the Obama administration has bordered on "malfeasance." "I have no doubt the White House is right, that Secretary Sebelius was in several group meetings with the president about health care," Gergen caveated, "but the whole
President Barack Obama’s Facebook page on Saturday posted a message honoring the dead from Pearl Harbor—accompanied by a picture of Obama descending the stairs next to the Pearl Harbor Memorial. The picture barely fits the name of the Arizona Memorial so it can frame Obama in the foreground. The post´s statement reads: Today, with solemn pride and reverence, let us remember those who fought and died at Pearl Harbor, acknowledge everyone who carried their legacy forward, and reaffirm our commitment to upholding the ideals for which they served. President Obama The Obama Administration´s current shipbuilding plan shrinks the size of
A black fashion student says he was brutally attacked by a gang of Hasidic men who shouted anti-gay slurs at him while he was walking through Williamsburg after a night of partying, the Daily News has learned. Taj Patterson, 22, was headed home to Fort Greene around 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 1 when he says more than a dozen ultra-Orthodox Jewish men began assaulting him on Flushing Ave. and yelling, “Stay down, f----t!”
Just how much do many Hollywood liberals hate conservatives? In an interview with Playboy, Ben Affleck said, "When I watch a guy [on film] I know is a big Republican, part of me thinks, I probably wouldn’t like this person if I met him": PLAYBOY: You developed a political profile campaigning for presidential candidates Al Gore, John Kerry and Barack Obama. How did that come about? AFFLECK: I grew up in a house with a mother who was a teacher and a Freedom Rider—very left-wing Democrats living in a heterogeneous working-class neighborhood. I picked up a lot of those values there, and I
On his way to the podium at the memorial ceremony for former South African president Nelson Mandela, President Obama walked down the line of dignitaries, greeting other leaders there to pay their respects. Among the hands shaken: that of Cuban leader Raul Castro. Obama neither made a special effort to shake Castro’s hand nor to avoid him. A snub might have been awkward: In his speech, Obama praised Mandela’s “greatest gift” as “his recognition that we are all bound together in ways that can be invisible to the eye; that there is a oneness to humanity; that we achieve ourselves by
A “presidential selfie” featuring President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister David Cameron, and Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt at Nelson Mandela’s memorial service began making the rounds this morning, but it’s the person not included in the frame who caught everyone’s attention: As anyone with two eyes and a Twitter account has noticed, Michelle Obama does not appear amused. Of course, though a picture says a thousand words, not all of those words are necessarily true. FLOTUS might not have even known the photo was taking place. Or she could disapprove of funeral selfies. Either way.
The Obama State Department has finally released a second round of photos revealing the harrowing devastation wrought by a terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012. The new photographs depict rampant damage to the consulate. They show charred walls, smoldering fires, Arabic graffiti defacing exterior walls, and scattered debris throughout. The extent of the damage would lead any reasonably serious person to conclude that this was a cold, calculated attack, carefully coordinated to mark the 11th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. Unfortunately for the American people, the Obama-Clinton-Rice cabal that led to the Benghazi cover-up was
