| Last month, sports broadcaster Bob Costas set off a controversy when he read a pro-gun control column by Fox Sports columnist Jason Whitlock during halftime of NBC’s primetime broadcast of “Sunday Night Football” after the tragic murder-suicide of Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher. I would seem that race relations or at least the thoughtful discussion thereof, have worsened considerably under Obama. Whitlock once again proves that he is a typical intellectually lazy liberal - and a race baiter to boot. Who reads his columns and doesn´t come away with fewer brain cells?

Maybe it´s time to call the White House comment line... and ask why this kind of nasty, ugly verbiage goes on without BO speaking out and reproaching it. (I know, BO is probably just fine with it, reflecting his own views.)

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services says it wants as many as 20 percent of its workers to "telework," use an "alternative work schedule," or do both, in order to "reduce green house gas emissions," decrease "employee stress," and give these government workers more time for "planning and preparing healthy meals." So says one of the HHS "performance measures" detailed in an appendix to the department´s latest strategic plan. HHS´s performance measure "4.D.05" says: "Increase the percent employees on telework or on Alternative Work Schedule." Telework means working from home via phone and computer.

It is most often used by the powerful on anyone less powerful as a symbolic sacrifice. Steven Miller, the now former acting commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service, is the latest victim of ritual sacrifice. This week the Obama White House demanded his resignation to demonstrate the president’s “anger” at news that the IRS targeted conservative groups applying for tax-exempt status for added review and slow approval. So allow us to do the work for him: There is no comparison. The lawmaker leading the charge to investigate the Benghazi terror attack on Friday subpoenaed the co-author of a report that slammed the State Department but didn´t interview Hillary Clinton. House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) formally demanded that retired ambassador Thomas Pickering submit to being deposed by the committee next Thursday. The subpoena comes in the wake of a series of acrimonious public exchanges this week between the two men.
