| As Detroit recorded its highest homicide rate in nearly two decades, city and police officials pledged to try to stem the tide of violence. Authorities recognized the spiraling problem of gun play and homicide in Detroit during a news conference Thursday — a recognition that comes as the city kicks off the new year with violence. Graphic is the most informative part of the article: there were 9.0 homicides per 100,000 residents in 1960, blasting up to 54.6 per 100K now. This problem is created in large measure by the federal War on Poverty and other liberal welfare efforts, along with local efforts that encouraged decent people to get the heck out of Dodge.
Writer admits that most of the victims were young black men, but makes no effort to describe the killers. Says also one murder hotspot just by coincidence is an area where many on parole and probation live.

50 years of liberalism and welfare handouts have destroyed Detroit, with other cities to follow. You can only steal from the job creators for so long before they take their ball and go home - or move overseas. Expect this behavior to accelerate in the coming years as Obamaism will assuredly speed up the destruction of our inner cities and suburbs.

Simple solution - - the government has to spend more - - much more - - in places like Detroit, Chicago, Camden, Newark, and other Urban Renewal sites.
Only more and more government programs can keep these places voting 100% for the demonrats. And that´s what really counts.

Those of you who are critical on the dimfecals destruction of Detroit, Chicago, and washitdung must remember that they consider those deaths and the squalor a whooping success.
Margret Sanger "the kill em´ before that can breed", John Dewey the "roach those brains while they are young" and Hitler bill clintons favorite read would all be proud.
Of course the dimfecal program st. Peter will probably roast them for is the torture and murder of babies. Karl Marx, Saul Alinsky and Bill Ayres taught them well.
That is not just their favorite population control but their partee platform.

In Sub-Saharan Africa the same thing is happening, but machetes are the weapons of choice. What happens in South Detroit today happens in the Congo too; tribal warfare terrorizes innocents, and anarchy reigns.
It’s the culture, not the weapon. (And, note that the FBI notes that clubs and hammers are the most frequently used homicide weapons, not guns.)
LBJ’s Great Society war on poverty was well intentioned, but like most liberal utopian ideals, did not do well in its real world application, and 50 years of throwing money at it hasn’t changed anything. The projects are the legacy of Liberalism and LBJ’s Great Society.

Beg to differ, #11. When signing the bill to begin the Great Society, LBJ is reputed to have said something like, "That will keep the N-words voting for Democrats for years to come". Some good intentions. They didn´t care about eliminating poverty. They wanted to enslave blacks on their Democrat plantation. It worked just as they planned. EVIL.

Trenton — As Congress debates an overhaul to the federal immigration system, New Jersey lawmakers again took up controversial legislation today that would allow students living in the country illegally to pay in-state tuition at the state’s public colleges. The bill, dubbed the “Tuition Equality Act,” was approved by the state Assembly Budget Committee after a lengthy hearing in Trenton. The crowd in the chamber, which included immigrant students who have been pushing for the change for years, cheered as the committee moved the bill. The legislation will now go to the full Assembly for a vote.

Passengers on NJ Transit’s No. 113 Express bus were taken on a ride from hell during Thursday’s morning rush when a lost driver took a really scenic route to New York, leaving commuters nearly two hours late for work. Chris Christie today to talk about New Jersey´s recovery from Hurricane Sandy—touching on the state´s emotional connection to the Shore, the need for another source of flood insurance, and the governor´s famous "get the hell off the beach" comment. The interview closed out a three-day conference in Chicago held by the Clinton Global Initiative, the organization Clinton founded. Sandy devastated New Jersey—especially its shoreline—last fall, leaving million without power and seriously damaging hundreds of thousands of homes. Charlie Rose last night asked President Obama his new Syria policy. The president first objected to it being called a new policy. "I´m not sure you can characterize this as a new policy. This is consistent with the policy that I´ve had throughout," he said. Obama then explained the goal is regional stability, and especially in Syria. "Really, what we´re trying to do is take sides against extremists of all sorts and in favor of people who are in favor of moderation, tolerance, representative government, and over the long-term, stability and prosperity for the people of Syria," said Obama.

It is understood that a contingency plan is in place for the unlikely event that an attempt would be made on the President’s life. The Secret Service also have diplomatic immunity which will allow them to shoot to kill a would-be assassin without fear of prosecution. As part of the “evacuation route” plan, they would be able to spirit the President by chopper to one of the carriers where a jet is on standby to take him back to the United States.
