| Obama and Dems have vowed not to negotiate with the GOP over the debt ceiling. This morning, I asked what “not negotiating” would look like in the real world, and whether it’s even possible. But another question may be even more relevant: Do Republicans really have the leverage in the debt ceiling fight they think they have? Some Republicans are now coming out and acknowledging that the GOP may not be in a strong position in the debt ceiling battle, after all. Here’s Newt Gingrich, on Morning Joe today, telling Republicans that a debt ceiling fight is a “loser”

Comments: Why of course. Because the POTUS is just a disinterested bystander when it comes to the country´s financial standing.

Good Grief !!! Does it take a genius to figure out that all you have to do is pass a ceiling increasing rate?????
This will force Obama to cut entitlements. Pass emergency spending on a case-by-case basis with no pork.

The Republicans are now the ´´American French Party´´.
They will spend about 20 minutes talking tough, and then surrender.
When NØbama asked for their cajones, they didn´t have to hand them to him on a silver platter.
Ronald Reagan is rolling over in his grave as we speak!!!

Both Obama and Boehner have already said that they would not negotiate on the debt ceiling. What is next, is Obama going to accuse the GOP of causing a crisis to get their way? Why not demand that the left explain their argument that we need to borrow money to make payments on the debt and if we don´t we are causing default. If we can´t make debt payments without borrowing money we are already in a real default. Who in their right mind would loan money to a debtor so they could pay off someone else and leave you holding the bag? If the interest on the debt goes up even slightly we will be in this exact position. All the income will be needed to make payments on the debt with no discretionary spending at all. This situation is very near and some leader needs to articulate the bitter truth! Be a hero - tell the truth.

Hey Barry, we´ll take up the debt ceiling after Dingy Harry introduces a budget. That´s a great start.

No, it really isn´t. The GOP needs to cut up Obama´s credit card and stop the spending. It´s real simple, so do it.

The GOP needs to do nothing. Can they manage to do nothing?

There´s been a lot of discussion lately about what Detroit needs. Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder appointed Kevyn Orr emergency manager over Motown several months ago. If Orr can´t get the books in order in the next six weeks, the city faces possible bankruptcy, reports Reuters. Why is the once-glorious birthplace of the automobile in so much trouble? On Monday, May 27, PBS Independent Lens airs an important film, "Detropia," that explores the crisis in Detroit. Here are some issues presented in the documentary. "Detropia," a Loki Films project, is not just a film drive-by of Detroit ruins.

The New York Times reports the Department of Justice investigated national security leaks given to Times reporter David Sanger over his story last year about the Stuxnet virus by pulling all the email and phone records of government officials who communicated with the reporter. Last summer, Sanger reported the U.S. helped develop the Stuxnet virus and used it to attack Iran, becoming the first country to carry out a sustained cyber attack with the intent of destroying another country´s infrastructure. The was some hoopla and a hullaballoo about leaks and DOJ investigations, the Associated Press

Hillary Clinton for president in 2016? Husband Bill says, "Relax." Let his wife enjoy a bit of a private life for the first time in two decades. But as far as the pollsters are concerned, the 2016 race is underway. And Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul is certainly acting like he´s in the race. The latest poll out of Iowa has former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton beating Florida Sen. Marco Rubio handily (48 vs. 37 percent), but could face a tougher race against Senator Paul (46 vs. 42 percent), according to a new poll by Quinnipiac University.

KABUL, Afghanistan -- Taliban gunmen launched a coordinated attack on an international aid group’s guesthouse in an upscale Kabul neighborhood Friday, setting off a furious firefight that lasted several hours and renewing fears of the insurgents’ ability to strike virtually at will in the heart of the capital. The late-afternoon attack took place in Kabul’s Shar-e-Naw district, home to numerous heavily fortified compounds housing international aid groups and Afghan governmental and security entities. The assault began with a powerful car bomb detonated at the gates of the guesthouse used by workers for the International Organization for Migration

Two men have been arrested after British fighter jets were scrambled to escort a Pakistan International Airways flight to an airport near London following an on-board incident. The plane, which was carrying 297 passengers en route from Lahore to Manchester, was diverted to Stansted Airport in Essex, north-east of London, after the crew activated an emergency alarm. It landed just after 11:30pm on Friday (AEST). On landing, British police arrested the men, aged 30 and 41, on suspicion of endangering an aircraft. A Bronx teacher fired after a student complained about her use of a racial slur says the whole thing is just a ridiculous case of meaning lost -- literally -- in translation. Petrona Smith, 65, was a non-tenured teacher at the bilingual school PS 211 until March 2012, when she was fired after a student complained of being called "negro" and "a failure." But Smith, who is black and a native of the West Indies, said the student misunderstood her meaning: she was using the word "negro," the word for the color black in Spanish

The murder of a soldier in south London on Wednesday has prompted fears of a backlash against British Muslims after the English Defence League staged an impromptu rally in the capital and two mosques were attacked. The BNP leader, Nick Griffin, has also reacted to the killing with provocative tweets calling for a protest in Woolwich and claiming the crime is the result of "mass immigration". Farooq Murad of the Muslim Council of Britain said the EDL´s rally in London on Wednesday night was cause for concern. "When attacks like these happen there´s always the danger of far-right extremism

Conservative radio host Mark Levin is very skeptical of the idea that President Obama had absolutely no idea about the IRS tea party targeting before the story broke in the news mere weeks ago. Levin declared adamantly that it is a “flat-out, bald-faced lie” that Obama didn’t know beforehand, citing prior reports by a few conservative news outlets picking up on the news well before the 2012 presidential election. Levin said, “I don’t believe for two seconds that Obama wasn’t aware of this.”

President Obama on Thursday nominated Victoria Nuland, a State Department official involved in the editing of the administration´s talking points on Benghazi, to be the next assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs. Nuland, a career foreign service officer who was until recently State´s top spokesperson, had long been expected to be nominated the post to replace Philip Gordon, who Obama picked to serve as Middle East coordinator for the National Security Council. Nuland´s nomination -- which requires Senate confirmation -- could come under scrutiny from Republicans who see her as playing a central role in shaping

Anthony Weiner’s New York mayoral candidacy was only made more improbable today after he revealed that he visited a Houston psychiatric facility following his resignation from Congress in 2011. Haunted by scandal surrounding his sexually explicit online communications with women, the Democratic former congressman sought treatment for his compulsive behavior from mental health professionals at the Gabbard Center. According to its website, the facility provides “3-day outpatient psychiatric evaluation,” particularly to “professionals who are in personal or professional crises.” While Weiner did not disclose

Washington rumor has it that Obama wants to be U.N. Secretary General. There are several reasons that make that likely, and if it´s true, it throws new light on a lot of Obama´s oddities -- including his Royalty Bows, his Apology Tours, his Muslim Sellout, and the Benghazi Cover-Up. But first -- why would Obama be planning to become the chief of the U.N. before he has even finished his second term?

On Wednesday, Drummer Lee Rigby of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, a man who had served Queen and country honorably in the hell of Helmand Province in Afghanistan, emerged from his barracks on Wellington Street, named after the Duke thereof, in southeast London. Minutes later, he was hacked to death in broad daylight and in full view of onlookers by two men with machetes who crowed "Allahu Akbar!" as they dumped his carcass in the middle of the street like so much roadkill. As grotesque as this act of savagery was, the aftermath was even more unsettling

MARK LEVIN: So why didn´t Chairman Issa hold an investigative hearing a year ago? Why didn´t Chairman Camp, all Republicans, hold an investigative hearing a year ago, and all the other tripping over themselves right now? I´ll tell you why. Because the establishment Republicans, the RINO Republicans, despise the Tea Party. They despise the conservative movement. We exist to be managed, to be shuttled to the polling place, to vote for their candidates. The Karl Roves of the world, and all the rest of them. They fight us in the primaries, they fight us at the grassroots.

Fox News chief Roger Ailes has sent a memo to his subordinates at the leading cable news network. He sent this memo to his staff today in connection with the federal investigation into an alleged leak to Fox News reporter James Rosen, a story that the Washington Post’s Ann E. Marimow broke earlier this week. The memo’s a masterpiece, too. For all those who wonder what it is about Ailes that endears his people to him — and that makes him such a good interviewee for any media reporter lucky enough to get an audience
