It´s official: Obama wins presidency

The outcome wasn’t a surprise: Barack Obama was re-elected Friday to a second term as president. There was no fretting about Ohio’s 18 electoral votes. There was no doubt about who would take Florida’s 29. And it was just a matter of reading a script to officially cast Virginia’s 13.The votes of the much discussed but quickly forgotten Electoral College were tallied and certified in a joint session of Congress on Friday. For Obama and Vice President Joe Biden, there were 332 votes cast. Republican Mitt Romney and running mate Paul Ryan received 206 votes.

The immediate blame lies at the feet of the state officials who allowed a legally-unqualified usurper on their ballots.

We have work to do.

I guess those 15 or so states that were going to make the presidential candidates prove their eligibility were scared/bribed into dropping it?

America died on 11-6-2012.

This is just the official coroner´s report verifying the death.

Being a republic was fun while it lasted...

Whenever I´m at doctors´ offices or other businesses, I make a point of working my loathing of "that Marxist traitor" in the White House into the conversation. Usually it gets good responces, but not always, so I kow where to do future business.

Or, who calibrates the voting machines; and when do the R´s get to vote on where to buy the voting machines?

Why does the RNC even show up anymore??? It´s children vs. really evil men/women playing a game they invented (lying, cheating, stealing).

#5: The issue is that Obama´s father was not an American citizen. Period. Birth location is immaterial. Birth certificates are immaterial.

Since neither Jindal´s nor Rubio´s parents were American citizens from birth, neither Jindal nor Rubio qualifies as a Natural Born Citizen. Both are ineligible for the Presidency. Period.

Red-faced Republicans, circling and preparing to pounce on a second-term Democratic president they loathe, do not respect, and certainly do not fear. Sound familiar? Perhaps reminiscent of Bill Clinton’s second term, after the Monica Lewinsky story broke? During that time, Republicans became so consumed by their hatred of Clinton and their conviction that this event would bring him down that they convinced themselves the rest of the country was just as outraged by his behavior as they were. By the way, what was Clinton’s lowest Gallup job-approval rating in his second term,

Poll: GOP angriest about Benghazi

Republicans are furious about the administration’s response to the Benghazi attack that left four diplomats dead, according to a poll released Monday, but have yet to persuade the broader American public of the scandal’s seriousness. Forty-one percent of Republicans in the survey from Public Policy Polling, a Democratic firm, said it was the biggest political scandal in American history, compared to only 23 percent of the general public. Nearly three-quarters of Republicans also said the scandal was bigger than the Watergate or Teapot Dome scandals. Seventy percent said it was worse the Iran-Contra.

U.S. voters generally approve of Israel’s decision to bomb targets in Syria but still believe the United States should stay out of the conflict there. Sixty-one percent (61%) of Likely U.S. Voters at least somewhat approve of Israel’s decision to bomb suspected missile storage facilities in Syria. The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that only 29% disapprove. This includes 32% who Strongly Approve and 11% who Strongly Disapprove.

The nation´s attention turned to terrorism when two bombs exploded near the finish line of the Boston Marathon Monday afternoon. President Obama sought to comfort Americans shaken by the attack, and to assure the nation that the perpetrators would be identified and brought to justice. Authorities identified the suspected bombers late Thursday, and by Friday night, one had been killed in a confrontation with the police and the other captured after a day-long search. Obama´s approval rating did not rise in the immediate wake of the attacks. In April 15-17 Gallup Daily tracking interviewing,

Ten years ago today, U.S. air, sea and land forces attacked Iraq. And the great goals of Operation Iraqi Freedom? Destroy the chemical and biological weapons Saddam Hussein had amassed to use on us or transfer to al-Qaida for use against the U.S. homeland. Exact retribution for Saddam’s complicity in 9/11 after we learned his agents had met secretly in Prague with Mohamed Atta. Create a flourishing democracy in Baghdad that would serve as a catalyst for a miraculous transformation of the Middle East from a land of despots into a region of democracies that looked West.

RUSH: Now, before we get to that, I want to offer continuing evidence of my theorem that I put forth last week. I have a couple of stories here. Scott Rasmussen´s latest poll on Obama approval finds that Obama´s approval rating is at 54%. Strongly approve is 33%, and strongly disapprove is 36%, but the total approval (and this is a poll of likely voters) is at 54%. Despite the fact that people disagree with the direction of the country and the deficit, unemployment, gun control and all of that, Obama´s still at 54% approval. Up until last week, when I raised the curtain on this mystery, everybody asked,

Republicans open to letting billions in sequester cuts go through figure they can blame the president if the economy goes south. But Democrats are betting they can shift that blame right back to the GOP. They’re so confident, in fact, that they’re already eyeing at least 10 Republican-held seats with strong military connections from Florida to California to target in 2014, after sequester cuts have trickled down to local bases where jobs are lost and voters notice.

Former Rep. Anthony Weiner, whose career in public life came to an abrupt end when he sent lewd pictures to a college student on Twitter, jumped back into politics on Wednesday by announcing a bid for mayor of New York City. “Look, I’ve made some big mistakes and I know I’ve let a lot of people down,” the Democrat said in a 2-minute video announcing his bid. “But I’ve also learned some tough lessons. I’m running for mayor because I’ve been fighting for the middle class and those struggling to make it for my entire life.

The dam protecting the IRS scandal began to crack today when Lois Lerner, the IRS official who announced, and apologized for, the improper singling out of conservative-leaning organizations by IRS employees under her command, announced through her criminal defense lawyer that she will not testify as scheduled tomorrow before the House Oversight Committee. Rather, she will assert her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. This marks an enormous milestone in the IRS investigation. It can now be taken as more or less established that crimes were committed by Obama administration employees. Lerner’s lawyer tried to minimize the significance

The public got its first look Thursday at Lois Lerner, who has gone from faceless IRS bureaucrat to the face that launched what feels like 1,000 congressional hearings and conspiracy theories. But it was only a brief sighting since she didn´t stay long at a House hearing to further probe her role in how some IRS workers came to target conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status. (Snip)She did make a short statement to declare her innocence, however. Lerner´s motivation was more transparent than much of what the IRS has done in connection with this controversy. When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

The friend said he left the interview, and when he came back to the apartment he found that there had been a shooting.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa said embattled IRS official Lois Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights and will be hauled back to appear before his panel again. The California Republican said Lerner’s Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination was voided when she gave an opening statement this morning denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service. “When I asked her her questions from the very beginning, I did so so she could assert her rights prior to any statement,” Issa told POLITICO. “She chose not to do so — so she waived.”
