| SPRINGFIELD— The Illinois Senate left the State Capitol later today without voting on measures to legalize gay marriage and outlaw assault weapons, leaving the fate of those controversial issues in doubt. A committee advanced the same-sex marriage bill late this afternoon, but the sponsor acknowledged she did not have enough votes to win approval on the Senate floor.Sen. Heather Steans, D-Chicago, dismissed a question on whether she ever had a solid 30 votes lined up to pass the legislation. "Oh, no, no, no," Steans said. "We really did have the votes. We were just missing members today."

Wow. Way to go after the important issues of the day Democrats... Meanwhile the state is bankrupt and the economy stinks.

Illinois is in competition with California to see who can go Marxist first. Texas and Ohio will gladly accommodate your fleeing businesses.

There may be a small ray of hope here. If the semi-auto ban is "too broad and unworkable" in the most corrupt and anti gun state in the country, maybe they will say the same thing about OberFuehrer Feinstein´s bill.

When you´re starving and freezing on a snowy, icy street corner begging for change, i hope you´ll be warmed having voted for things like gay marriage instead of things that matter.

Fire-breathing political advocates from the both sides of America´s political divide have issued new calls for Barack Obama to fire his attorney general, Eric Holder. LIberal radio show host Bill Press weighed in on the air Friday, and then in a series of tweets, while Texas Senator John Cornyn put a target on Holder´s back during a Sunday television appearance. ´I think it’s past time for him to go and for the president to appoint somebody who the public can have confidence in,´ the ultra-conservative Cornyn said on the CBS show Face The Nation. ´You know, I´ve lost confidence

In some states, more than three-quarters of residents were born in that state. In others, fewer than 40 percent of residents are native-born. Here´s a look, via a recent University of Virginia analysis, of which states (plus D.C.) have the most, and least, native-born residents, according to 2010 Census data. The 10 states with the highest percent of residents who were born there (percent of residents who are natives in parenthesis): 1. Louisiana (78.8) -2. Michigan (76.6) -3. Ohio (75.1) -4. Tomorrow, a tiny sliver of the city´s residents will look at a scroll of names you´ve probably never heard and grant to a few the power to sentence criminals, negotiate divorces and adjudicate lawsuits for years to come. "This is what I call a committeeman´s election," said 33rd Ward Democratic Leader Donna Aument, of Kensington, referring to the power that members of the city´s Democratic committees wield in off-year elections. Her daughter, Marnie Aument Loughrey, is running for Traffic Court. Turnout is expected to be exceptionally low for the primary, meaning the several thousand votes that the local Democratic machine

The usually-cocksure Jay Carney has rarely appeared so uncomfortable. “What I can tell you is that this president believes strongly in the First Amendment and is a strong defender of the First Amendment,” Carney insisted to a packed house of angry reporters last Tuesday afternoon. The White House had just been freshly stung by news that the Department of Justice had secretly raided the phone records of up to 100 Associated Press reporters, looking to identify the news organization’s private sources. He believes strongly in the need for the press to be unfettered in its pursuit of investigative journalism,”

President Obama "was kept up to date" on the terror attack in Benghazi "throughout the entire night, from the moment it started until the very end," the president´s senior adviser Dan Pfeiffer told "Fox News Sunday." But repeatedly pressed for details on where the president was and what the president was doing on the night of Sept. 11, 2012, Pfeiffer dodged the question, saying only that Obama was "kept up to date with the events as they were happening." Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace, pressing Pfeiffer to fill in the blanks, noted that Obama was

BAGHDAD— A string of car bombs and shootings killed at least 57 people in Shiite and Sunni areas of Iraq on Monday, officials said, escalating fears of a return to widespread sectarian bloodletting in the country. The attacks, some of which hit market places and crowded bus stops during the morning rush hour, pushed the death toll in Iraq since Wednesday to more than 200. The bloodshed over the past week has been reminiscent of the retaliatory attacks between Sunnis and Shiites that pushed the country to the brink of civil war in 2006-2007.

What did President Obama do on the evening of 9/11/12 when our men were under attack in Benghazi? The invaluable Andrew McCarthy reminds us that Obama and Secretary Clinton had a 10:00 p.m. phone call of which many (including, I think, Chris Wallace) have lost sight. This morning when Wallace asked Obama aide Dan Pfeiffer what Obama was up to that evening, Pfeiffer declared the line of inquiry “offensive.” Translation: Obama and his minions would prefer to “move on” and are warning the likes of FNC off:(Snip for video)The Weekly Standard’s Daniel Halper has posted the rush transcript

WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. Inspector General Russell George said he informed a deputy at the Treasury Department in June of 2012 about the probe into the IRS. The Treasury Department confirmed the timeline but said they did not know the details of the investigation until last week.(Snip)Marcus Owens ran the tax-exempt division at the IRS for 10 years. He said it isn´t difficult to figure out who´s doing what at the agency.

PRESIDENT OBAMA: You are the mantle of Frederick Douglass and Booker T. Washington and Ralph Bunche and Langston Hughes and George Washington Carver and Ralph Abernathy and Thurgood Marshall and, yes, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. These men were many things to many people and they knew full well the role that racism played in their life. But when it came to their own accomplishments and sense of purpose, they had no time for excuses. Every one of you has a grandma or an uncle or a parent whose told you at some point in life

It began in earnest last Friday. A flash mob of latte drinking, tofu eating media that has done its best to quell, rather than fan the flames of truth, turned on one of their own. Jay Carney lay bludgeoned at the base of the podium, a victim of friendly fire. Ironically, the attack was reminiscent of the one in Benghazi he has repeatedly denied the Administration he represents bears any responsibility for. “Changed twelve times?!” came the cries. And with good reason. We were misled; no, lied to.

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.

Washington – Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-MO, issued a video statement Friday in response to reports that the Internal Revenue Service unfairly targeted conservative nonprofit groups. (Snip) “There’s a reason Lady Justice wears a blindfold in America. That is because in America, we don’t apply the law based on who you are, who you know, or what you believe. We apply the law equally.” “We should not only fire the head of the IRS, which has occurred, but we’ve got to go down the line and find every single person who had anything to do with this and make sure

"Can you see in your mind´s eye a way that this might not have been political, that this was a misguided stupid way to sort, but that they didn´t intend it to be some kind of political attempt to harass the Tea Party?" So actually asked CNN´s Candy Crowley of her guest Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) concerning the Internal Revenue Service scandal Sunday (video follows with transcript and commentary):CANDY CROWLEY, HOST: Moving on to the IRS problem at this moment, which is really sort of in its infancy. There will be lots more hearings coming up this week
