| Al Jazeera´s announced plans to establish a new U.S. cable news channel via the purchase of Current TV isn´t even 48 hours old and already it finds itself in a vicious battle to retain distribution rights. Al Jazeera´s acquisition of Current TV is basically a pay-for-distribution play. The Qatar-backed network plans to replace Current TV in the more than 40 million homes where it is currently distributed with its own news network, tentatively dubbed Al Jazeera America. The new network´s success is predicated on maintaining, if not increasing, that level of distribution.

There are no distribution woes here. If they have to pay the cable companies to be carried it should not be a problem for arabs with deep pockets.

Al Jazeera will be real competition for MSNBC for the America-hating, Jew-hating demographic. So instead of swinging their program more towards sanity, I´ll bet MSNBC will skew even further leftwards, if that is possible. I guess they could always dig up Stalin and Pol Pot for host duties.

Somewhere I read that Time Warner Cable has already cancelled its agreement to carry Al Jazeera Current with Algore´s traitorous sale.
Heck, if Algore had been around in WW2, he´s had sold the channel to Toyko Rose.
Let´s hope ATT U-Verse is close behind.

I don´t think that a dish will help, #2. We have one due to there being no cable out here in the boonies. We have DirecTv and the Current channel is part of the basic package. You get it whether you want it or not. I´m going to contact DirecTV and ask about getting it removed. Maybe if enough of us complain....

I had no idea Current was on Comcast Digital Cable until I just looked on their list of channels. Never have watched it and have no intention of watching it now, so am not going to panic about it. We have about 10-15 channels we watch plus movies, know the channel #s, and couldn´t tell you what the others are if I had to. I imagine most cable companies will drop it when their present contracts expire.

The facts just keep coming out of Ohio. It is hard to comprehend what they went through, those young women. What they felt while trapped by a monster through those lost years of their early adulthood is almost impossible to fathom. How did they cope? How did they get through each day? A close friend of mine was sexually abused as a teenaged girl. It was a man she knew. It lasted for years. She never told anyone — not her mom, not her friends. She didn’t tell because, like so many women who are abused, she blamed herself.

Let’s see if we can unravel one of the great mysteries of the Obama Administration. The latest invocations of the Incompetence Defense from President Obama, Eric Holder, and now the departing Acting IRS Commissioner (hilariously described by the Associated Press as “ousted,” even though he’s leaving exactly when he was originally scheduled to depart, in June) hold that all of these super-genius leaders found out about various outrages by watching the news, along with the rest of us. They have no idea what their subordinates do every day, until it blows up into a huge scandal on the evening news, and that’s why they should be left in charge of everything.

The lawmaker leading the charge to investigate the Benghazi terror attack on Friday subpoenaed the co-author of a report that slammed the State Department but didn´t interview Hillary Clinton. House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) formally demanded that retired ambassador Thomas Pickering submit to being deposed by the committee next Thursday. The subpoena comes in the wake of a series of acrimonious public exchanges this week between the two men. Issa didn´t issue a subpoena to former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Michael Mullen, who co-authored the Benghazi report with Pickering.
