| President Barack Obama late Tuesday signed a $633 billion defense bill that continues to block his ability to close the prison camps at Guantánamo, then in a separate signing statement issued Wednesday called the prison camps a waste of national security resources. “I continue to believe that operating the facility weakens our national security by wasting resources, damaging our relationships with key allies, and strengthening our enemies,” Obama said in a statement released by the White House Wednesday morning. While the president has bristled at the restrictions in past signing statements,

Comments: At bottom of article, says 0bama signed this bill personally, unlike the "fiscal cliff" bill which was done with an autopen. Makes one wonder why...
Nice to see that the GOP caused a wedgie in his pants still over GITMO. I suggest he move the detainees to White House where he seems to be rarely home & has so many rooms. With all the SS protection there, a win-win for 0bama./S

With all the vacations, campaign trips and all his staff, obama and moochelle are a far greater waste of U.S. resources!

That money could be going to pay more Obama voters and other moochers not to work.
Instead we are wasting it by keeping muslim terrorists imprisoned.

My idea of "wasting resources" is a $20M vacation in HI and the $1.5 Billion spent on the obama family last year.

Why does it cost $800,000 per year per prisoner for a POW ? Did they get their outdoor courtyard so they could see the ocean while playing sports ? Where is Sheriff Joe ?
It must be hard to leave Camp Gitmo and go back to a camel, a goat, and a cave.
They could always reopen Alcatraz so it will feel more like home.

Don´t you know that the savages that overran the Benghazi complex were "graduates" of Camp Gitmo. He just wants ALL of "his people" to go free. What a piece of crap this guy is. Kill them all with your hollow point bullet stash, you traitor. (I just can´t say enough about how I feel about this jerk. Still, if we could put him and a hundred of his friends in there, we could let the others go.)

Read about African civil war prisoners being transferred to the US for trial. Holder says it´s to make sure they aren´t treated cruelly... Really??? Come on...
Now we choose winners & losers in African civil wars... and provide prison benes ?

Washington - When the State Department fields the first of 350 additional Marine security guards at high-risk embassies and consulates around the world later this year, the price tag will be steep: about $1.6 million per Marine. Why so much? It turns out that about $525 million of the $553 million that Congress approved this year to deploy more Marine guards — fulfilling a recommendation of the independent review panel that investigated the attacks last year on the diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya — is going toward building new command-and-control hubs

For millions of gay and lesbian employees, much has changed since 1999, when no states recognized gay marriage, “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” effectively barred people who were openly gay from serving in the military, Matthew Shepard’s murderer was convicted — and Exxon Mobil shareholders were first asked to protect gay and lesbian employees from discrimination. One thing hasn’t: Exxon Mobil’s implacable opposition to adding sexual orientation to its official equal employment opportunity statement. The issue will be on the agenda at Exxon Mobil’s annual shareholder meeting next week for the 14th

Terrorism analysts are rebutting President Obama’s assertion that the “scale of the threat” from Islamic terrorists has reverted to pre-Sept. 11, 2001, levels. “This is a total fabrication,” said Steven Emerson, whose Investigative Project on Terrorism tracks radical Islam. “The ‘scale of this threat’ in the 1990s never closely resembled the terrorist attacks post 9/11. This is an outright lie.” The Heritage Foundation has been cataloguing foiled terror attacks post-9/11 by Islamic groups. The number: 54. James Carafano, a military analyst at Heritage, said the 1990s’ numbers “were a fraction of

Brownsville, Texas - A former Texas prosecutor and one-time candidate for Congress was convicted Friday of accepting bribes in exchange for court favors, including an $80,000 payment in a scheme that allowed a convicted murder to escape. Jurors convicted former Cameron County District Attorney Armanda Villalobos on racketeering, bribery and extortion charges. They acquitted him on two extortion charges. Villalobos is the highest-profile target to stand trial in an FBI investigation into legal corruption in Cameron County. The former prosecutor was accused of taking more

Phoenix - A federal judge ruled on Friday that Sheriff Joe Arpaio and his deputies had violated the constitutional rights of Latinos by targeting them during raids and traffic stops here and throughout Maricopa County. With his ruling, Judge G. Murray Snow of United States District Court delivered the most decisive defeat so far to Sheriff Arpaio, who has come to symbolize Arizona’s strict approach to immigration enforcement by making it the leading mission for many of the 800 deputies under his command at the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. At 142 pages, the decision is peppered with stinging

President Obama’s speech on Thursday was the most important statement on counterterrorism policy since the 2001 attacks, a momentous turning point in post-9/11 America. For the first time, a president stated clearly and unequivocally that the state of perpetual warfare that began nearly 12 years ago is unsustainable for a democracy and must come to an end in the not-too-distant future. “Our systematic effort to dismantle terrorist organizations must continue,” Mr. Obama said in the speech at the National Defense University. “But this war, like all wars, must end. That’s what history advises.

Madrid - On May 1, 2021 Baltasar Garzón’s suspension from the bench for authorizing illegal wiretaps in the Gürtel corruption investigation will expire. The crusading magistrate will be 65. “On that day I will return to take up my post as a judge,” says Garzón from Bogota, from where is to travel to Argentina this weekend. Since his disqualification, Garzón has been a nomad, with seven jobs in six countries, including serving as director of the International Center for the Promotion of Human Rights in Argentina; a University of Washington post; and advisor to the Colombia Attorney

On Wednesday, Drummer Lee Rigby of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, a man who had served Queen and country honorably in the hell of Helmand Province in Afghanistan, emerged from his barracks on Wellington Street, named after the Duke thereof, in southeast London. Minutes later, he was hacked to death in broad daylight and in full view of onlookers by two men with machetes who crowed "Allahu Akbar!" as they dumped his carcass in the middle of the street like so much roadkill. As grotesque as this act of savagery was, the aftermath was even more unsettling

Washington rumor has it that Obama wants to be U.N. Secretary General. There are several reasons that make that likely, and if it´s true, it throws new light on a lot of Obama´s oddities -- including his Royalty Bows, his Apology Tours, his Muslim Sellout, and the Benghazi Cover-Up. But first -- why would Obama be planning to become the chief of the U.N. before he has even finished his second term?

MARK LEVIN: So why didn´t Chairman Issa hold an investigative hearing a year ago? Why didn´t Chairman Camp, all Republicans, hold an investigative hearing a year ago, and all the other tripping over themselves right now? I´ll tell you why. Because the establishment Republicans, the RINO Republicans, despise the Tea Party. They despise the conservative movement. We exist to be managed, to be shuttled to the polling place, to vote for their candidates. The Karl Roves of the world, and all the rest of them. They fight us in the primaries, they fight us at the grassroots.

Fox News chief Roger Ailes has sent a memo to his subordinates at the leading cable news network. He sent this memo to his staff today in connection with the federal investigation into an alleged leak to Fox News reporter James Rosen, a story that the Washington Post’s Ann E. Marimow broke earlier this week. The memo’s a masterpiece, too. For all those who wonder what it is about Ailes that endears his people to him — and that makes him such a good interviewee for any media reporter lucky enough to get an audience

WASHINGTON —In a dramatic departure from existing White House procedures, President Obama requested today that his staff start cc’ing him on stuff. “Look, I know a lot of you think I’m really busy and you don’t want to bother me,” the President reportedly told his staff in an Oval Office meeting. “But cc me anyway. It’s good for me to keep up on what’s going on around here.” “It’s not good when I turn on the news and they’re talking about something at the White House and I’m like, whoa, when did that happen?”

The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) have reversed their longstanding membership guidelines to allow homosexuals to join the organization. In an email to CNSNews.com, the BSA public affairs office said the vote on the resolution to “remove the restriction denying membership to youth on the basis of sexual orientation alone” was passed with 61.44 percent in favor and 38.56 percent opposed. “For 103 years, the Boy Scouts of America has been a part of the fabric of this nation, with a focus on working together to deliver the nation’s foremost youth program of character development and values-based leadership training,”

Abuse Of Power: Any scandal investigation that expects a "Eureka!" moment, a White House e-mail, or Oval Office smoking gun will be misguided. In fact, the dots are already connected directly to the president. Barack Obama is not foolish enough to have a tape recording system hidden in his desk. And his administration staff are not careless enough to send one another incriminating e-mails. If the president was behind the IRS unlawfully harassing conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status, we can be sure the communications were all sotto voce and in persona, like any good Chicago political operator.
