Obama´s Fiscal Cliff Victory Is
Far Less Than Meets the Eye

Economy: President Obama and his acolytes are gushing over his fiscal cliff victory. But the glow isn´t likely to last long, once everyone figures out that the tax hikes Obama wrangled from Republicans only made matters worse. Let´s look at what Obama has managed to achieve with his $620 billion tax hike on the wealthy and the boost in the payroll tax rate. • They´ll hurt the economy. Economists are admitting the fiscal deal will slow the already sluggish economic growth. Moody´s Analytics chief economist Mark Zandi says the higher taxes on the wealthy and the increase in

This plan would result in such huge growth that it would not reduce revenue: File monthly paying 1% on the first one thousand and paying ten percent on everything beyond the first 1K. It would also save everyone money on tax prep.

Not much difference between Washington Republicans and Democrats. Neither has our best interest at heart, very sad. Once they get to Washington they forget why they were sent their in the first place.

I think that Obama has lost any political advantage and good will he ever had. All eyes will be on him now to fix the economic situation and we know that it will only get worse. He has cried "Wolf" one too many times, me thinks.

The writers of this article are under the mistaken belief that Obama cares what happens to the economy.

The Democrat Party should be butchered at the midterm elections. They´ve earned it. The uninformed and the rabble don´t vote as heavily in midterm elections. The GOP should capitalize on this.

I wonder if there´s any informing the low-information voters.

The wild-eyed liberals may have second thoughts about their "fair share" when they get their paychecks and their tax bills.

There is going to be another in the never-ending cycle of "cliffs" (translation: "crises") in 2 months. The debt ceiling.

Meanwhile, luau your little heart out, Biffy.

Basically, doesn´t Obama win because of overwhelming support from opinion-makers in the media? Shouldn´t most attacks focus on media inaccuracy/partisanship/overspending?

When you add up everything obama and the dems, with the enabling republicans, have done to this country....and been re-elected to continue their rape and pillage, it just sickens you.

God bless Investors Business Daily. They always put on the rose-colored glasses. The public isn´t going to believe that Republican support of these taxes was ´wrangled´. Instead they are going to believe that the Republicans were complicit in our economic ruin. That was the Democrats´ goal.

The problem is we went over the wrong cliff... If we had taken the "fiscal cliff", at least we´d have some spending cuts to go along with our tax increases.

The 113th Congress convened yesterday and their first order of business will be passing a pork filled Sandy Relief bill. That 620 billion dollar tax increase just passed will become a 560 billion dollar tax realization. Sounds like Obama will be back looking for more tax dollars.

Meanwhile, Paul Ryan says he voted for it `in the best interest of America`. Really Paul? Isn`t that a fancier way of saying it`s the best deal we could get?

Business as usual.

The economic facts in this article are all true but what about the prediction of GOP wins in the mid terms. With the GOP frittering away their chances and caving to Obama at every turn they are going to loose the mid term elections. What did we get in the last crisis that Pelosi would have done different? She even got a carve out for her Tuna factory and she is still not paying her fair share! These useless GOP cowards will need to change their ways in the next crisis or they are toast! Obama betrays everyone but his base supporters. Boehner takes his base supporters for granted - they have nowhere else to go - and runs around trying to get the support of lefties who hate him. That is what he needs to learn from Obama!

If caving (a la best: interests of America, no choice, we´re only one branch, we did the best we could, etc.) is always the answer then why do we need them? They had two years to head this off and under Boehner´s leadership blew it. They were outplayed and outmaneuvered and looked pathetic. They looked like a high school team playing the pros. Once again the pubs failed to get their message out and it cost them. Then they turned around and approved a giant pork bill without so much as a fight. It may have been the best we could do at the time only because they failed to deal with it until the last minute and then only from a defensive position. Now what about that loan cap?
BHO could care less. It would cost him squat, he can´t be re-elected. Think not, what did blowing the stimulus money cost him, or all the scandals, or high unemployment, or failed foreign policies, or on and on. This will fall on the pubs shoulders. They signed off on it.

IBD´s brilliant insights are, unfortunately, lost on the low information voter, whose candidate choice is based not on the state of the economy or the deficit, but on whether:

1. The "rich" were made to pay their "fair share";

2. The candidate´s skin is the right color;

3. The candidate promises more free stuff; or

4. The candidate successfully blames all problems on Bush.

The article (thank you for posting, OP) is far more worthwhile
than anything posted here about it.

Petulance such as we see here...
and are getting in the ear from Rush on the radio...
(apparently he needed more vacay... try Hawaii next time, Rush... )
signifies nothing meaningful nor productive in any way.

Reagan´s optimism would lead you to think about the following...
Bamster is at his highest right now...
He has nowhere to go but down...
He will crash along with the economy...
His taxes, unemployment, Obamacare mess, and vast economic malaise will cost him...
Full Obamacare kicks in Jan. 2014...
The midterms are in Nov. 2014...
The party of the incumbent prez in his second term (six years in) usually takes
a huge negative hit in the midterms...

We will wreck the final two years of Bamster´s reign of terror...
We will own the House and Senate...
Bamster will be a weak lame duck, despised by many more than he already is...

We can easily own the WH, House and Senate by Jan. 2017.
And many more of us won´t be fooled again by any liberoid lies.

People sick of DimWit domestic terrorism will be joining us.
DimWits are corrupt, sick and evil.
They rape and ruin our nation daily.
Let´s get ready to whip them.
And let´s roll.

The crybaby whiners who post here daily do not impress me.
If you cannot filter out the nonsense from Sean and Rush, don´t listen to them.
They are lazy multimillionaires who have no actual responsibilities.
They can and do say anything they want.
Real life is much more difficult.

The media screws the right every day.
That´s the biggest problem.
We´re up against cheaters.
We can and will whip ´em.
Their asses deserved to get kicked.
It´ll be fun.

#21, rafter,
You are right about one thing: rush, shut up. All of the talk shows (maybe except Mark Levin) are so lame and self-aggrandizing it is like sour berries - I don´t watch and listen after November elections. Pure junk!
But back to the point - did hitler, stalin, mao or castro (also many others) suffer for what they did? And don´t point out that hitler killed himself. Yes, he did, but he had 15 year run of ultimate satisfaction. Those sadists have so much fun that they don´t pay attention to mosquito bites. They enjoy screwing us even more. They see us squirm and get orgasms out of that.

#17 I agree, but the Republicans have to get the word out about just what the Democrats are doing. The Democrats see to it that they control the narrative! They never stopped until everyone beleved Romney was a rich ogre who hated poor people. This latest fiasco--when Boehner AGAIN caved--on the Hurricane Sandy thing. Democrats and two Republicans out there bashing Republicans for not taking care of the poor victims. Why werent Republicans out front saying look here what is in that bill--billions of pork. BUT NO Republicans let the Democrats control the narrative.STUPID

Facts mean nothing in today´s media-driven pop culture. ...Remember 0bama´s modua opperandi is, ´It´s not what you know that counts, it´s what they think you know.´ Too many think exactly what the dems´ media tells them to think, regardless of the facts. That is the way too many gullibles apparently voted last November, but EVERYONE except 0bama´s cronies will suffer the very real excessive taxation consequences.

ABO clearly wasn´t the winning strategy many proclaimed it would be. He was reelected even with the worst economy ever, spending more than anyone has ever spent before, and socializing some businesses and healthcare. Why anyone thinks that a worsening economy will influence the 2014 elections is beyond me. The reali is that the Repubs have squandered their opportunity to prove they have our best interests at heart. The agreed to raise most of our taxes, but made sure that cut out plenty of interests who we are now paying more to supplement. ABO/ABD wasn´t a winning strategy in 2012 and it won´t be in 2014. Besides, the Repubs have destroyed a whole lot of their support base. How´re they going to recover that - RINO Power?

Look at california. The donks can pass any thing they want. any tax issue, any raises, and any stick-it-to-whitey bill they want.
There is no one to oppose them.
It will be truly a LaRaza State. If you come to visit and you drive around, you´d be shocked at the huge swaths are all Little Mehico.
If don´t live in Calif, get control of your local and State Registrar of Voters. One in each county. Change to Paper ballots. Get rid of the machines. The machines were set up to speed the reporting so the Press would have a quick story. but the Press is the tumor on our country. Paper ballots, no big companies to run things. But you must follow the ballots to be counted. Follow the car with the ballots so no switches can be made.No mail in balloting/elections.No same day registration.Poll watchers.
all this sounds far-fetched but it is an easy way to begin retoring our nation. Our Nation, not someone else´s nation.

There was a great chart at Business Insider, showing the various recessions and job losses since 1948 until the present.

This one is the longest, having lasted nearly five years. I think that qualifies more as a "depression," and I´m waiting for Barry to get punished for it. Maybe, as others here have said, the 2014 mid-term elections will do the trick. But oh how much pain there will have been by then.

It came out during the Ways and Means Committee hearing on the IRS scandal. The acting IRS commissioner, Steven Miller, who´s leaving, was testifying. Congressman Aaron Schock, a Republican from Illinois, had a question for him.

Speaking at Ohio State University this month, Barack Obama urged students to pay no attention to those paranoid types who "incessantly warn of government as nothing more than some separate, sinister entity." Oddly enough, in recent days the most compelling testimony for this view of government has come from the president himself, who insists, with a straight face, that he had no idea that the Internal Revenue Service had spent two years targeting his political enemies until he "learned about it from the same news reports that I think most people learned about this."

STANDING BEFORE reporters Thursday, President Obama declined an invitation to compare the recent scandals weighing down his administration with those that forced President Nixon to resign in 1974. So allow us to do the work for him: There is no comparison. Nixon, in a series of crimes that collectively came to be known as Watergate, directed from the White House and Justice Department a concerted campaign against those he perceived as political enemies, in the process subverting the FBI, the IRS, other government agencies and the electoral process to his nefarious purposes. Mr. Obama has done nothing of the kind.
