| In 2008, Barack Obama promised that he would not use signing statements, but last night he released when to accompany his signing of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2013. Here´s Obama´s pledge: (video) He said that signing statements are a presidential power grab, and made clear he believed it violated the Constitution. Overnight, however, Obama released this signing statement, in an attempt to try to change the meaning of the defense bill Congress sent to him for his signature:

He is testing the water..as he plans to raise the debt ceiling without Congress, which is clearly UNconstitutional. Is there ANYONE willing to call Obama on his lawlessness?

We have all learned long ago that his "promises" are worthless. It is particularly scary now, since he is no longer accountable to the voters. Hang on to your hats.

Zippy doesn´t believe in separation of powers. It´s his way or the highway. His aim is to be America´s first African dictator.

If his chain is not yanked NOW, this will be just the beginning of his rise to dictatorship. If you think that can´t happen, other countries have ignored warning signs, too, and look what happened to them.
Don´t let America´s fall happen because someone believed it was someone else´s job to handle this power-hungry cretin.

He´s not so much pathological as a pure pragmatist. He has been "educated" to believe that the Ends justify any means, and since he has as well been allowed to believe he borders upon Divinity, Morality is of course beneath his station. He does not "lie," he merely reassesses the situation whenever convenient.

Any parts of any law signed by the President that are not followed should be prosecuted by the Attorney General, or if the President disregards parts, he should be impeached. Either sign it or veto it...no in-between signing statements.
These signing statements have NO force of law and NO legal authority. They really push the limits of the separation of powers.

Words to express adequate contempt for him have yet to be coined. Worthless, vile, traitorous, scum doesn´t begin to scratch the surface...

I heard a young black woman on the radio yesterday asking why we even need a Congress anymore--just give the power to Obama.
If that doesn´t frighten you, then you are not awake. But that is Obama´s ploy--marginalize Congress to the point where the American people give him all the power.
If Boehner doesn´t man up now--it truly is time to look for another country. It is too late for McConnell, he needs to be thrown out of office by his (also weak-kneed) GOP colleagues.

If I had the time, I could go back to "Chancelor" Hitler, and find almost exact parallel quotes as he also began to creatively interpret German laws as they came from the elected law makers- to suit his own agenda. Nothing was done to stop him. The result is well known to the whole world.

I have never heard the Constitution mentioned so many times as a justification for ignorning it. No means yes and yes means no...except when it doesn´t. Everyone acts as if this is completely normal. It is like people waiting around for a troop of baboons to recreate the Antikythera Mechanism, expecting, in all seriousness, that it will be accomplished soon. Truly, we have arrived at Bedlam 2.0!

The signing statement is in reference to the Defense Bill. Obama didn´t write this he just signed his name at the end. It´s mainly a rehash of points that where they feel Congress overstepped. It´s not unusual.

SAN JOSE— For most Americans in the United States, Armed Forces Day is not on the lists of likely holidays to honor the country’s military in celebrations of Memorial Day or Veteran’s Day. Sadly, most Americans may not even realize that Armed Forces Day is even a legitimate holiday. Armed Forces Day was established to be celebrated on the third Saturday in May. It started during Harry Truman’s administration when he led an effort to consolidate the various holidays supporting each separate branch of the military into a simple unified holiday to honor the four branches together.

Dorothy, the 14-year-old peregrine falcon that since 2002 has nested on a 40th-floor ledge of the Cathedral of Learning in Oakland, was perched on the limestone railing next to that nest and her lone chick shortly before 9 a.m. Friday. She´d just fed the 22-day-old chick a small bird for breakfast. "Baltimore oriole ... again," said Kate St. John, who blogs about the city´s peregrines. Someone else watching from the office inside the window next to the nest said it looked like Dorothy was calmly "chilling." Ms. St. John´s response was that nothing could be further from the truth.

WASHINGTON — An Internal Revenue Service watchdog testified Friday that he told Obama administration officials in June that he was looking into allegations the IRS targeted conservative groups for extra scrutiny when they applied for tax-exempt status. The revelation by Inspector General Russell George came at the first congressional hearing on the IRS misconduct, which has generated a political firestorm since it was disclosed a week ago. George’s testimony represented the first evidence that officials in the Obama administration knew of the allegations as long as a year ago, during the presidential campaign.

Fox News host Jon Scott thinks the big three network evening news programs are already starting to tire of President Obama‘s “trifecta” of scandals. Scott outlined exactly how long ABC, CBS and NBC spent discussing development in the Benghazi, IRS and AP stories Thursday night, before asking his guests, “Is there scandal fatigue?” Judith Miller began by taking a swipe at the “mainstream media,” saying, “when issues get complicated and the press have to do a lot of filling in of facts that perhaps they haven’t bothered to report before, yes, things do get complicated

Senior Obama administration officials where notified almost a year ago that an inspector general was looking into the IRS’s treatment of conservative groups, a watchdog said on Friday. Russell George, Treasury’s inspector general (IG) for tax administration, testified that he told the department’s general counsel and Deputy Treasury Secretary Neal Wolin about the probe around June of 2012 — months after media reports started detailing Tea Party complaints about the IRS. George stressed that he told the officials merely that a probe was underway. After the hearing, aides at the inspector general’s office later said it’s standard practice

Watching President Obama trying to dodge raindrops and responsibility yesterday reminded me of the moment when Dorothy pulls back the curtain and discovers that the Wizard of Oz is “just a man.” Stripped of his spell of mystery and power, the wizard is worse than mortal. He’s a fake. So it was with Obama in the Rose Garden. His performance was tired and trite, ordinary to the point of dull. His veneer of passion was so transparent that you could see him trying to summon his old-time magic by pushing the buttons

STANDING BEFORE reporters Thursday, President Obama declined an invitation to compare the recent scandals weighing down his administration with those that forced President Nixon to resign in 1974. So allow us to do the work for him: There is no comparison. Nixon, in a series of crimes that collectively came to be known as Watergate, directed from the White House and Justice Department a concerted campaign against those he perceived as political enemies, in the process subverting the FBI, the IRS, other government agencies and the electoral process to his nefarious purposes. Mr. Obama has done nothing of the kind.

Obama administration officials who were in key positions on Sept. 11, 2012, acknowledge that a range of mistakes were made the night of the attacks on the U.S. missions in Benghazi, and in messaging to Congress and the public in the aftermath. The officials spoke to CBS News in a series of interviews and communications under the condition of anonymity so that they could be more frank in their assessments. They do not all agree on the list of mistakes and it's important to note that they universally claim that any errors or missteps did not cost lives and reflect "incompetence rather than malice or cover up.

The State Department, under Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton, created an arrangement for her longtime aide and confidante Huma Abedin to work for private clients as a consultant while serving as a top adviser in the department. Ms. Abedin did not disclose the arrangement — or how much income she earned — on her financial report. It requires officials to make public any significant sources of income. An adviser to Mrs. Clinton, Philippe Reines, said that Ms. Abedin was not obligated to do so. The disclosure of the agreement that Ms. Abedin made with the State Department comes as her husband,

On Thursday´s NBC Today, in a desperate attempt to deflect from the scandals engulfing the Obama administration, co-host Savannah Guthrie wondered: "I read a headline yesterday that said Republicans see blood in the water. That they see a president who´s very vulnerable politically. Is there a danger that they will overreach?" Chief White House correspondent Chuck Todd agreed with the slanted premise: "There is. I mean, that´s what happened to Republicans in 1998 with Bill Clinton.

President Obama’s press conference in the rain was not a success, if by success, his supporters would mean an event which convinces anyone who doesn’t work for him that he’s getting ahead of the scandal deluge. The sight of a Marine holding an umbrella over his head only added to the weirdness of the event. So what did we learn? 1. He has full confidence in Attorney General Eric Holder, the man who purportedly recused himself (whenever) without putting it in writing (whatever). When asked about the untrammeled snooping on Associated Press reporters and editors,

In the wake of one of the worst abuses of government power in recent history, many are rushing to frame the Internal Revenue Service scandal as simply an attack on conservative activists. That view risks creating a partisan political football and misses a fundamentally scarier abuse that exceeds the scandals of Watergate or any other prior government abuse. The IRS has admitted that since May 2010 it targeted grassroots-conservative organizations that had applied for tax-exempt status, unfairly subjecting them to rigorous scrutiny due to their political leanings. Such groups were told they were required to comply with IRS requests,
