Senators Got 154-Page
´Fiscal Cliff´ Bill 3 Minutes
Before Voting on It

The U.S. Senate voted 89-8 to approve legislation to avoid the fiscal cliff despite having only 3 minutes to read the 154-page bill and budget score. Multiple Senate sources have confirmed to CNSNews.com that senators received the bill at approximately 1:36 AM on Jan. 1, 2013 – a mere three minutes before they voted to approve it at 1:39 AM. The bill is 154-pages and includes several provisions that are unrelated to the fiscal cliff, including repealing a section of ObamaCare, extending the wind-energy tax credit, and a rum tax subsidy deal for Puerto Rican rum makers.

Totally ridiculous. They spent 2012 running for re-election instead of working for the American people and this is the result.

True to the Demonrat strategy of creating a "crisis" then having staff members craft a horrific bill chocked full of pay backs for their cronies into a must pass right now bill. Then they walk away grinnin´ at their cleverness knowing that the Pravda press will spin it and blame the Republicans.

I detest the Demonrat party. Will never vote for any candidate with a D after their name.

Democrat/Republica.No difference.

What it is,is the biggest Barnum and Baily Dog and Pony show ever perpetrated on the American people

51 pages per minute, or approximately 1 page per second to read a $600 billion tax increase bill. Let´s see the Russian or North Koreans legislatures top that. This could possibly be turned into an Olympic event, with chants of "USA! USA!"as Harry Reid and his Rob Sled team roared to the finish line in world record time.

Seriously, the ObamaCare nightmare was passed iby Senate and House Democrats in the same manner. At last minute, a 300 page addition to ObamaCare was added with no time for anyone to read. Since the Dems hadn´t read the first 1,200 pages, the extra 300 pages attached at the last minute didn´t really matter.

This is how they will pass gun control. Sneaking it in to another unrelated bill with only moments to vote. It will be passed and signed into law before anyone even knows what happened. Get ready.

It was 3 minutes more than any of them spent reading it. There can´t be more than a couple Senators who aren´t the indentured servant of some moneyed interest - they do what they´re told.

Respect I might have had for any of our politicians has flown out the window and been replaced by contempt. Both of my senators (GA) voted aye on this bill and they will never get another vote, or penny, from me.

Fiscal Cliff is not about raising taxes on the top 2%!

Fiscal Cliff is the federal Debt Bomb, of which none of it has been addressed, not one bit.

Fiscal Cliff still dead ahead.

My senator, Patrick Toomey should not have voted on this heap of junk. But he did. So, I am very disappointed in him and we in Pennsylvania will be looking for someone to replace him. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT.

However, now that they´ve pass the bill, they could find out what´s in it! Isn´t that right Nancy?

These politicians are without a conscience. There is no way that their behavior points to anything else. They have committed theft upon the American voter for decades with absolutely no consequences. I don´t see how they can be made held accountable now. Their actions would put anyone else in jail and ruin their reputation but these guys continue to skate. I am so disgusted and disheartened by their hubris and arrogance. The government is filled with sociopaths and I don´t see anything that will change this.

There could have been a clause inserted to nullify the Constitution for all any of them know. However, more than half the country voted, (many of them twice, illegal or dead), for these clowns so I guess free stuff is more important than doing the right thing.

Reply 17 - Posted by: mws50, 1/3/2013 11:14:55 AM     (No. 9096494)

#17, no... Half the country did not vote for these clowns... Not bey a long shot.

31.5% of all eligible voters pulled the obama lever.
29.5% of all eligible voters voted fro Romney.
39% of all eligible voters were too lazy to go vote.

There were appx 126 million votes cast.
There are appx 315 million people in the USA.

Reply 19 - Posted by: Booneboy, 1/3/2013 12:52:17 PM     (No. 9096637)

When this happens the logical thing to do is to Vote against the bill. If everyone (the majority) did this it would notify the leadership that if the body does not have enough time to read and make amendments, then their vote will automatically be NO!!

It worked so well the first time, why shouldn´t they do it again ..... and again .... and again. Stay tuned.

Reply 21 - Posted by: Muguy, 1/3/2013 3:30:00 PM     (No. 9096890)

They had to pass it to know what was in it!

What a sorry damn joke on us!
We are told to "read the fine print" before signing off on things...hell, they didn´t even have a chance to read the regular print!.

DAMASCUS, Va - At least 50 people were injured Saturday after a car struck a crowd of hikers in the Appalachian Trail Days parade in Damascus. A Virginia State Police reconstruction team has closed off the bridge where the incident happened and is investigating it as a crime scene. According to authorities, a green Cadillac was traveling on Route 91 in Damascus around 2:15 p.m. when his vehicle cut through a nearby car wash located off Third Street, where the parade was taking place. The car then went around several vehicles in the parade and plowed

A man named Marcus Dixon had just told him about the center´s key role in helping him learn to provide for his family after being released from jail. WASHINGTON There´s an irony in the Internal Revenue Service´s crackdown on conservative groups. The nation´s tax agency has admitted to inappropriately scrutinizing smaller tea party organizations that applied for tax-exempt status. But the IRS largely maintained a hands-off policy with the much larger, big-budget organizations on the left and right that were most influential in the 2012 elections and are organized under a section of the tax code that allows them to hide their donors. "The IRS goes AWOL when wealthy and powerful forces want to break the law in order to hide their

Two Congressmen are asking the Treasury Department if it inappropriately scrutinized conservative-owned businesses the same way it targeted Tea Party groups filing for tax-exempt status. Republicans Mike Kelly (PA-03) and Jim Renacci (OH-16) circulated a letter Thursday requesting Treasury Secretary Jack Lew to release documents detailing the process and methodology the Automotive Task Force used to shut down General Motors dealerships in 2009 during the automotive industry crisis. Renacci´s Northeast Ohio Chevrolet dealership was closed in 2010 after losing a battle with General Motors. Congress loaned General Motors $50 billion in 2009 after GM declared bankruptcy, which resulted

SAN JOSE— For most Americans in the United States, Armed Forces Day is not on the lists of likely holidays to honor the country’s military in celebrations of Memorial Day or Veteran’s Day. Sadly, most Americans may not even realize that Armed Forces Day is even a legitimate holiday. Armed Forces Day was established to be celebrated on the third Saturday in May. It started during Harry Truman’s administration when he led an effort to consolidate the various holidays supporting each separate branch of the military into a simple unified holiday to honor the four branches together.

Dorothy, the 14-year-old peregrine falcon that since 2002 has nested on a 40th-floor ledge of the Cathedral of Learning in Oakland, was perched on the limestone railing next to that nest and her lone chick shortly before 9 a.m. Friday. She´d just fed the 22-day-old chick a small bird for breakfast. "Baltimore oriole ... again," said Kate St. John, who blogs about the city´s peregrines. Someone else watching from the office inside the window next to the nest said it looked like Dorothy was calmly "chilling." Ms. St. John´s response was that nothing could be further from the truth.

WASHINGTON — An Internal Revenue Service watchdog testified Friday that he told Obama administration officials in June that he was looking into allegations the IRS targeted conservative groups for extra scrutiny when they applied for tax-exempt status. The revelation by Inspector General Russell George came at the first congressional hearing on the IRS misconduct, which has generated a political firestorm since it was disclosed a week ago. George’s testimony represented the first evidence that officials in the Obama administration knew of the allegations as long as a year ago, during the presidential campaign.

Obama administration officials who were in key positions on Sept. 11, 2012, acknowledge that a range of mistakes were made the night of the attacks on the U.S. missions in Benghazi, and in messaging to Congress and the public in the aftermath. The officials spoke to CBS News in a series of interviews and communications under the condition of anonymity so that they could be more frank in their assessments. They do not all agree on the list of mistakes and it's important to note that they universally claim that any errors or missteps did not cost lives and reflect "incompetence rather than malice or cover up.

He’s a fake. So it was with Obama in the Rose Garden. His performance was tired and trite, ordinary to the point of dull. His veneer of passion was so transparent that you could see him trying to summon his old-time magic by pushing the buttons

In the wake of one of the worst abuses of government power in recent history, many are rushing to frame the Internal Revenue Service scandal as simply an attack on conservative activists. That view risks creating a partisan political football and misses a fundamentally scarier abuse that exceeds the scandals of Watergate or any other prior government abuse. The IRS has admitted that since May 2010 it targeted grassroots-conservative organizations that had applied for tax-exempt status, unfairly subjecting them to rigorous scrutiny due to their political leanings. Such groups were told they were required to comply with IRS requests,

The lawmaker leading the charge to investigate the Benghazi terror attack on Friday subpoenaed the co-author of a report that slammed the State Department but didn´t interview Hillary Clinton. House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) formally demanded that retired ambassador Thomas Pickering submit to being deposed by the committee next Thursday. The subpoena comes in the wake of a series of acrimonious public exchanges this week between the two men. Issa didn´t issue a subpoena to former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Michael Mullen, who co-authored the Benghazi report with Pickering.

Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.
