Today the Senate will make history, swearing in a record-breaking 20 female senators – 4 Republicans and 16 Democrats – in office. As the 113th Congress is sworn in today on Capitol Hill, ABC "World News" anchor Diane Sawyer has an exclusive joint interview with the historic class of female Senators. Diane Sawyer´s complete interview will air on World News this evening. "I can´t tell you the joy that I feel in my heart to look at these 20 gifted and talented women from two different parties, different zip codes to fill this room," Sen. Barbara Mikulksi, D-Md., said

Heck, that´s nothin´- The House swears in its first admitted bi-sexual. It´s historic, I tell ya.

FTA "...that women´s styles tend to be more collaborative," You see, men are different than women. Except when they´re not. And don´t you dare mention it. That is sexist. But then women are "less confrontational" except when they are not. I love the logic of women!

I´d love a woman candidate for president. A CONSERVATIVE woman. But I don´t think Michelle Malkin is running. Maybe Mia Love? I can dream can´t I?

Women´s Rights, (reproductive) Better Budgeters-- Whay can´t we all get along-- All of them think we´ll have a female candidate for pres in 2016.

Ditto #1. I´m tired of the Chickification of America. Noticed that men seem to be predominant announcing the Rose Bowl Parade and women are at NASCAR and football games. Tired of it.

Sorry to be un-PC folks, women gave this election to Obama.

Between gutless brain-dead liberal men and "emotion driven" goofball women, we will continue to have horrible issues running this country. I feel sad for smart, conservative women, almost as bad as I feel for black and gay conservatives.

Let´s not forget the "feminist" treatment of Bachman and Palin, and the complete ignoring of Mia Love by women, not to forget the astonishing gushing of women´s groups over the useless Hillary Clinton.

Voting should be restricted to male landowners who are employed, or own their own business, and pay taxes.

Discuss.

Everything about this administration is "historic". Here is one more for you A to Z: Historic debt under this presidency.

Reading many of these posts on this and the other identical thread of this article it is easy to see why the GOP loses the women´s vote in Presidential elections. For a minute I thought it must be 1913, not 2013.

#13, it´s no coincidence that the Country is circling the drain largely as a result of that brain-dead "womens´ vote."

I`m sure the addition of Elizabeth Warren will raise the character level of the senate - /s

Now that the 112th Congress is history, Mass. Gov. Deval Patrick is now free to appoint Bwarney`s Fwank as interim Senator from Massachusetts.

Time to repeal the 19th amendment.

#13, open your mind for a second.

Are you better off as a society for what feminism has brought us?

What was our divorce rate in, to use your number, 1913?

What was the abortion rate?

How many women do YOU know who vote on candidates based on their ability and record, and their looks do not have, say, 70-90% of the reason for voting?

How many women in this country believe that Republicans have waged a war on women?

Aside from our advances in medicine, technology and human rights, 1913 socially looks a whole lot better to me now.

The White House’s explanation of what it knew about the investigation into the IRS’s scrutiny of conservative political groups and how it planned for the eventual release of that information shifted once again Tuesday. Just a day after telling reporters that chief of staff Denis McDonough and other senior White House staff learned of the situation nearly a month ago, press secretary Jay Carney revealed Tuesday that White House officials had consulted with the Treasury Department on how to make the findings public.(Snip) Carney said he hadn’t revealed more information about which officials

Douglas Shulman, the former commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service, said today he was “dismayed and saddened” that his agency had improperly targeting conservative groups, but declined to offer a direct apology and dismissed suggestions that he mislead Congress. The testimony from Shulman, who was making his first public appearance since the IRS controversy broke into the open two weeks ago, did not satisfy members of the Senate Finance Committee. He faced more than three hours of stern questioning from Democrats and Republicans, but said “I don’t believe I was aware” when asked

For a "failed scandal," Fast and Furious sure brought out the heavy hitters at the Department of Justice to deal with a whistleblower. The department´s inspector general has released a report accusing one US attorney, Dennis Burke, of leaking a document that smeared John Dodson, a key witness in the Fast and Furious scandal, and accusing other officials in the department of coming up with a strategy to discredit him. Breitbart: The DOJ IG said it found "Burke´s conduct in disclosing the Dodson memorandum to be inappropriate for a Department employee and wholly unbefitting a U.S. Attorney."

Officials in the White House discussed how and when the Internal Revenue Service would tell the public that the agency had targeted political groups, White House press secretary Jay Carney said Tuesday. Carney said that Mark Childress, the White House deputy chief of staff, twice spoke with officials at the Treasury Department about the strategy for revealing conservative targeting. Childress and the Treasury officials discussed the possibility that Lois Lerner, the IRS official who oversaw the agency´s tax-exempt organization, would reveal that an inspector general´s investigation had found

They explained that some had originally been counted twice amid the chaos. Officials, who warned that the death toll could rise, said 237 people were injured in the storm and that searches are continuing

Tiger Woods and Sergio Garcia can finally agree on something. "He called me a whiner. "But that´s also probably the first thing he´s told you guys that´s true in 15 years. I know what he´s like. You guys are finding out." On the same day that Tiger Woods uttered one word -- "No" -- to quickly dismiss the possibility of making amends over the pair´s verbal sparring during the Players Championship, the Spaniard kept swinging at

A federal court in San Francisco Tuesday struck down Arizona´s ban on abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the law violates a string of U.S. Supreme Court rulings starting with Roe v. Wade that guarantees a woman´s right to an abortion before a fetus is able to survive outside the womb. That´s generally considered to be about 24 weeks. Normal pregnancies run about 40 weeks. Several states have enacted similar bans starting at 20 weeks. But the 9th Circuit´s ruling is binding only in the nine Western states

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd. Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee Wednesday.

The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”

A senior adviser to President Obama mounted a combative defense of the administration on Sunday, saying the controversies enveloping the White House were the result of Republican lawmakers’ trying to “drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped-up hearings and false allegations.”The remarks came from Dan Pfeiffer, a member of the president’s inner circle, as he appeared on all five major Sunday morning talk shows in an effort to move the administration past what commentators have described as a “hell week” of controversy and missteps.

One of the questions was whether he/she was concerned about unsecured weapons in the home. While many Americans were tuned into news coverage of the massive damage from tornadoes ravaging the state of Oklahoma, Rhode Island Democratic Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse took to the Senate floor to rail against his Republican colleagues for denying the theory of anthropogenic global warming. Whitehouse spent 15 minutes chastising GOP senators and justified his remarks by alluding to states that seek federal assistance in the wake of natural disasters. “So, you may have a question for me,” Whitehouse said. “Why do you care?
