House Speaker John Boehner twice told Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to ´go f**k´ himself last Friday after a meeting at the White House on a budget compromise to avert the fiscal cliff. Standing in the White House lobby not far from the Oval Office, Boehner pointed his finger at Reid and sneered, ´Go f**k yourself,´ Politico reported, citing multiple sources present. Reid replied: ´What are you talking about?´ Boehner repeated: ´Go f**k yourself.´ The shrewd exchange from last Friday reveals how the grueling fight over the debt ceiling, spending cuts and tax increases pervaded politics
Comments: Understandable, but not in front of an army of reporters.
Wow. If this is true, I may have to take back all the bad things I´ve said/thought about Boehner. Appropriate, since that is what Nobama/Reid/Stretch Pelosi have said to any Republicans/Conservatives [not the same] since 2008.
Obama Saul Alinsky Obama our Community Organizer (rebel rouser) does it again. I am sorry that Boehner was too weak,as are most Republicans to stand up and do what is right for the country. RR, HWB gave in on taxes and spending, then GWB did the same.
They claim to be Conservative but in the end all they do is CAVE!
My point is it simply gives the opposition the bullets to shoot us with. It´s the "Caesar´s Wife" position. Yes, I concur, Boehner should show more spunk; it´s a welcome change and I applaud his words. But some things are best done very quietly.
Now everyone realizes that Boehner and his team are nothing but parliamentary functionaries. They are not leaders. He got less than a third of his caucus to support him on this vote. They all should go including Cantor and McCarthy though they voted against Boehner.
You first, John. Boehner is an enabler of one half of the Democrats´ tax and spend road to ruin. So they just keep on spending. The real choice is not complex: We can cut spending or go bankrupt. Since no one in Washington is capable of cutting spending of their own volition, the Republicans have decided to help Obama loot the more productive members of our economy and then go bankrupt. Super.
If nothing had been done, spending would have been cut--anonymously and irresponsibly, but cut nonetheless. Tax rates would have gone up precipitously, and painfully, on most Americans, thereby setting the stage for Republicans to run on tax relief in 2014 and tax reform in 2016. Instead, we are going to stop spending the old-fashioned way: by running out of people dumb enough to lend us money. We literally would have been better off if John and Mitch and their GOP cloak room buddies had done nothing. They are worse than useless.
Good for John Boehner! It doesn´t seem to matter to some what he does or says, the Speaker is always wrong. While obama-the-terrible jets BACK to Hawaii at OUR expense, costing US about $7+ million for his "excellent adventure", by all means, let´s just keep savaging John Boehner and the rest of the Republicans. BTW, Paul Ryan voted FOR the bill too. Tedious.
i give john a little room here it is always those who laugh last laugh best obama has posened the well no reason to do anything in the future lets keep a good tought because obama and dingy will get theres
What this tells me is that Boehner is not the wuss he´s painted to be. As for "caving", I believe that this isn´t the hill Boehner wanted to die on, for pragmatism´s sake, but is going to toughen up on the rest of this Administration´s attempts to marginalize or even destroy the Republican brand. Boehner needed to create the impression that the GOP is not to blame for the massive tax hikes that would have kicked in at midnight. He and the GOP need breathing room for the more important challenges ahead and this is it.
Now is the time for Tea Party caucus members to toughen up when the debt ceiling rolls around. If the GOP hopes to survive as a Party, at least now they have time to regroup and make peace with Tea Party people.
As for what we should be doing as a Party right now, if GOP congressmen are not at this moment furiously writing entitlement cut suggestions, complete with stats, to throw back in Obama´s face next time he pulls this sh**, we deserve to go belly up.
I don´t approve of the language but sometimes it´s just necessary. Now I guess the MSM will be screaming for him to apologize and my bet is the crybaby will. If he doesn´t, tho, he will make a baby step up in my estimation.
Ok, I give in. You are all correct, with the exception of a couple of posters who think as I used to. Now I see the light. Nothing is the Democtrats´ fault. It is all the Republicans fault and if they were only braver they would be running the whole show, pushing the President, the Senate, the Supreme Court and the media aside. It´s really very easy if you have the cojones you guys are always talking about. On another post someone said that Palin/Gingrich would not have caved. They would not have had to. They would not have been elected.
It appears the entire Texas pubbie delegation in the house voted against the ´deal´. Good for Texas. All the other state delegations - better take names as libtards in the pubbie party are self-identifying. Boehner appears to be a libtard calling himself a pubbie.
It does offend me that out of frustration Speaker Boehner told Reid to go F himself, but what offends me more is that the Democrat side of the aisle and the POTUS don´t want to cut any spending....nada. And what offends me more than that is that, frankly my dear, they just don´t give a damn about the debt and deficit".
NHS patients will benefit from a new brain scan that can help doctors confirm or rule out a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease. David Cameron will announce tomorrow that Britain will be the first place in the world where the revolutionary technique will be available for free. The test will mean that, for the first time, doctors will be able to definitively rule out Alzheimer’s in some patients for five years. Currently, one in five cases of the disease is misdiagnosed. It could also help doctors to confirm an existing diagnosis of Alzheimer’s, ensuring people get the treatment they need.
Barack Obama is facing poll numbers that are now in the same territory as President George W. Bush´s following Hurricane Katrina. The Quinnipiac University Polling Institute released numbers on Tuesday showing that just 38 percent of registered voters approve of the job Obama is doing as president, with a whopping 56 percent saying they disapprove. The president has lost his landslide electoral edge among young voters, too, with a negative 41–49 percent rating among 18- to 29-year-old voters. His once formidable support among Hispanics has also evaporated: They now support him by an historically small 50–43 percent margin.
Secretary of State John Kerry boasted in a congressional hearing on Tuesday that a recent nuclear deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran will make America ´more secure than the day before we entered this agreement.´ [Snip] But ´this agreement halts the progress of Iran´s nuclear program--Halts the program!´ he boasted. ´Iran´s nuclear program will not move forward. Under this agreement, Iran will have to neutralize--end!--its entire supply of 20 percent-enriched uranium, which you know is a short step away from weapons-grade uranium.´ ´Iran will forfeit all--not part--all of that 20 percent [enriched material], that 200-kilogram stockpile. Gone!´
More than 100 members of the BBC have been deployed to South Africa to cover Nelson Mandela’s death and memorial service. Staff were flown out to cover the story in the week the corporation received more than 1,000 complaints from viewers about local news and the storms being ignored to cover his death. (Snip) Far fewer staff were dedicated to the coverage on other channels, with nine people including a presenter, correspondents and camera operator from ITV sent out to South Africa. A spokeswoman for the BBC said: “Over a ten-day period we expect to have deployed around 120 journalists, technicians and support
President Obama shook hands with Cuban President Raul Castro today, an unprecedented gesture of friendship which occurred, fittingly, at the memorial service for Nelson Mandela. [Snip] Obama greeted a long line of world leaders and heads of state attending the memorial service in Johannesburg after flying to South Africa with a U.S. delegation which included former presidents Bill Clinton, George W Bush and Jimmy Carter along with their families. Obama also shook hands with Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, who has clashed with the U.S. President over alleged National Security Agency spying. He was later spotted in the VIP stands posing
Barack Obama today paid an emotional tribute to Nelson Mandela, calling the South African leader a ´giant of history´ as he spoke at a memorial service in a stadium where around a third of the seats were mysteriously left empty. The U.S. President, who moments earlier had shaken hands with Cuba´s Raul Castro in a historic moment of reconciliation, receivied a rapturous reception for his eulogy at the service in Johannesburg´s FNB Stadium, which started an hour late in the pouring rain. Cyril Ramaphosa, the deputy president of the ruling ANC party who opened the proceedings, said: ´In our tradition,
To those of you who may be alarmed by the notion that the US security services, helped by their obliging colleagues at GCHQ, might have access to all your internet activity--private emails included--Sir Malcolm Rifkind offers soothing reassurance. [Snip] Responding to the fact that a very impressive group of US web companies and internet providers has sent a letter to President Obama expressing concern at this wholesale hoovering up of the internet activityof ordinary citizens, Sir Malcolm observes that the signatories "have not concluded that what is happening…is necessarily unlawful." No, indeed they haven´t--because that is precisely the question at
On his way to the podium at the memorial ceremony for former South African president Nelson Mandela, President Obama walked down the line of dignitaries, greeting other leaders there to pay their respects. Among the hands shaken: that of Cuban leader Raul Castro. Obama neither made a special effort to shake Castro’s hand nor to avoid him. A snub might have been awkward: In his speech, Obama praised Mandela’s “greatest gift” as “his recognition that we are all bound together in ways that can be invisible to the eye; that there is a oneness to humanity; that we achieve ourselves by
The Obama State Department has finally released a second round of photos revealing the harrowing devastation wrought by a terrorist attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012. The new photographs depict rampant damage to the consulate. They show charred walls, smoldering fires, Arabic graffiti defacing exterior walls, and scattered debris throughout. The extent of the damage would lead any reasonably serious person to conclude that this was a cold, calculated attack, carefully coordinated to mark the 11th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. Unfortunately for the American people, the Obama-Clinton-Rice cabal that led to the Benghazi cover-up was
A black fashion student says he was brutally attacked by a gang of Hasidic men who shouted anti-gay slurs at him while he was walking through Williamsburg after a night of partying, the Daily News has learned. Taj Patterson, 22, was headed home to Fort Greene around 4:30 a.m. on Dec. 1 when he says more than a dozen ultra-Orthodox Jewish men began assaulting him on Flushing Ave. and yelling, “Stay down, f----t!”
A “presidential selfie” featuring President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister David Cameron, and Denmark’s Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt at Nelson Mandela’s memorial service began making the rounds this morning, but it’s the person not included in the frame who caught everyone’s attention: As anyone with two eyes and a Twitter account has noticed, Michelle Obama does not appear amused. Of course, though a picture says a thousand words, not all of those words are necessarily true. FLOTUS might not have even known the photo was taking place. Or she could disapprove of funeral selfies. Either way.
Just how much do many Hollywood liberals hate conservatives? In an interview with Playboy, Ben Affleck said, "When I watch a guy [on film] I know is a big Republican, part of me thinks, I probably wouldn’t like this person if I met him": PLAYBOY: You developed a political profile campaigning for presidential candidates Al Gore, John Kerry and Barack Obama. How did that come about? AFFLECK: I grew up in a house with a mother who was a teacher and a Freedom Rider—very left-wing Democrats living in a heterogeneous working-class neighborhood. I picked up a lot of those values there, and I
MSNBC host Melissa Harris-Perry opened her program over the weekend with a commentary about the Affordable Care Act’s colloquial moniker: “Obamacare.” She said that the word was originally created as a “derogatory term,” designed by white men as a way to delegitimize President Barack Obama and his achievement. However, she said that the term will soon be synonymous with all of Obama’s accomplishments and she urged her audience to use the term with pride. “I want to talk today about a controversial word. It’s a word that has been with us for years, and like it or not, it’s indelibly
Barack Obama has arrived in South Africa to lead the American delegation at a memorial service for former South African President Nelson Mandela in Johannesburg. But his party is reportedly stuck in traffic and he is said to have arrived late at the stadium for the ceremony. [Snip] But Mr Clinton, Mr Carter and his wife Rosalynn have all traveled separately to the event. According to reports, Mr Obama and his delegation are stuck in a lines of traffic caused by tens of thousands of people making their way to the event. Mr Obama is among the foreign leaders who
