| A new study has surprisingly shown up that Hispanic women have the steepest declining birthrates of any group in the United States. Despite enjoying the highest fertility rates in the country, both immigrant and native-born Latinas are choosing to have smaller families--leaving them with bithrates smaller than non-Hispanic Whites, black and Asians.[Snip] According to the recent Pew Research Center report there were 63 births per 1,000 women in ages 15 to 44 while in 1957 there were 122.7 births per 1,000 women of childbearing age. The decline in birthrates was seen to be heaviest among Mexican-American women

Comments: If it holds true it´s a welcome bit of news. Now let´s hope Republicans can recruit them into the ranks.

It´s been true for a while. People are very behind the times. The husbands and boyfriends still tend to push for bigger families, but the wives/girlfriend´s are "forget it."
Hah.

Any studies of muslim women having children? After all, the plan is to grow in numbers until they have the upper hand and can take over a country.

It´s remarkable how little most people know about evaluating data. Of course immigrant women´s fertility rate is dropping faster than non-immigrant women. Non-immigrant non-white women, especially whites, have been below replacement rates for years. They can´t drop lower. Latino women are dropping from five to four. That´s a big drop, but that´s still a big batch of babies.

Don´t agree, at least not where I live. The more kids, the bigger the check.

The Desperate Housewives effect. Now even our immigrants have an entitlement mentality. Thank you, Hollywood.

I´d hardly call my husband´s and my decision to have three children rather than six a matter of "entitlement." Or anyone else´s business.

Even the Catholic church is losing their grip on immigrants. "Immigrants" also include prosperous Indians and Chinese.

The charity said the site had been inundated with traffic after news broke that the victim, believed to be a serving soldier, had been wearing one of its T-shirts. As news of the killing quickly spread on social media, there were calls for people to visit the site to donate, or buy T-shirts or other merchandise as a show of support. The site´s shop quickly crashed and parts were still out of action on Thursday morning. A spokesman said: "Last night with the website, there was clearly a lot of interest." Is the worm turning against Barack Obama? After four-plus years of being given the benefit of the doubt by the bulk of the US media, the President now suddenly feels more vulnerable. Today both the New York Times and the Washington Post have run prominent and angry editorials and columns slamming the administration for its attempt to criminalise a Fox News reporter James Rosen for working a State Department source to obtain a story. The "Rosen Affair"--as it is now known--is poisoning the well in Washington at an alarming rate for Mr Obama, with an indignant White House press corps

A heroin addict father smokes the deadly drug contentedly as his two innocent children sit watching him adoringly. The oblivious man is part of a growing epidemic in the war-torn country of Afghanistan, which has seen the number of opium and heroin addicts tripling to 150,000, according to latest United Nations Figures, while 225,000 used the drug in 2012. In a country with a population 35million, there are now more than 1m addicts of one drug or another. Former Rep. Anthony Weiner, whose career in public life came to an abrupt end when he sent lewd pictures to a college student on Twitter, jumped back into politics on Wednesday by announcing a bid for mayor of New York City. “Look, I’ve made some big mistakes and I know I’ve let a lot of people down,” the Democrat said in a 2-minute video announcing his bid. “But I’ve also learned some tough lessons. I’m running for mayor because I’ve been fighting for the middle class and those struggling to make it for my entire life.

The dam protecting the IRS scandal began to crack today when Lois Lerner, the IRS official who announced, and apologized for, the improper singling out of conservative-leaning organizations by IRS employees under her command, announced through her criminal defense lawyer that she will not testify as scheduled tomorrow before the House Oversight Committee. Rather, she will assert her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. This marks an enormous milestone in the IRS investigation. It can now be taken as more or less established that crimes were committed by Obama administration employees. Lerner’s lawyer tried to minimize the significance

When you get right down to it, the political targeting and stalling of tax-exempt applications by the IRS was an effort to defund the Tea Party. Rick Santelli, one of the Tea Party founders and my CNBC colleague, was the first to make this point. I’ve taken it a step further: The IRS was taking the Tea Party out of play for the 2012 election, as it looked to avoid a repeat of 2010 and another Tea Party landslide. There are a lot of numbers out there.

The public got its first look Thursday at Lois Lerner, who has gone from faceless IRS bureaucrat to the face that launched what feels like 1,000 congressional hearings and conspiracy theories. But it was only a brief sighting since she didn´t stay long at a House hearing to further probe her role in how some IRS workers came to target conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status. (Snip)She did make a short statement to declare her innocence, however. Lerner´s motivation was more transparent than much of what the IRS has done in connection with this controversy. She was determined to

What´s so interesting about 60 tea partiers protesting the IRS in San Jose, California on Tuesday, May 21st? The fact that this bit of information was conveyed to the protesters by a Department of Homeland Security officer who was also in attendance. What was a DHS agent doing at the San Jose Tea Party protest? (snip) they weren´t just spying on us in San Jose and monitoring us in San Francisco, they were watching us throughout the entire state

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa said embattled IRS official Lois Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights and will be hauled back to appear before his panel again. The California Republican said Lerner’s Fifth Amendment right to avoid self-incrimination was voided when she gave an opening statement this morning denying any wrongdoing and professing pride in her government service. “When I asked her her questions from the very beginning, I did so so she could assert her rights prior to any statement,” Issa told POLITICO. “She chose not to do so — so she waived.”
