Why we fight

My resolution this year is to be much more diplomatic and emollient and generally more sympathetic to the other point of view. Naah. Just kidding. But what I did think would be a good idea at the start of yet another year´s blogging is to remind ourselves where we´re at and why it is that I do the things I do, write the things I write, and say them in the uncompromising, no-prisoners-taken way I say them. You might think it was because of people like this man--Richard Parncutt, Professor of Systematic Musicology at the University of Graz in Austria

I mean what would really be wrong about American conservatives having their own country, out of the reach of liberal crooks, thieves and weirdo professors.Let the left set their own rules, taxes and regulations and leave everybody else alone.
Even Ben Franklin knew the country was doomed if the takers exceeded the givers and that´s where we are.

Even liberals that work in the private sector say taxes are necessary for "government services",a term that I hate. These people confiscate money through gas taxes and you´re lucky to see a road repaved every blue moon.

The propaganda technique used to advance the warming hoax is to trickle out a slightly alarming factoid every month and a half, or at a similar paced rate. Something plausible on the surface even if it does not stand up to close examination. The most recent one I´ve heard is that ice the size of the US has disappeared from the arctic. This would be difficult since the arctic (as defined by the arctic circle) is smaller than the US in area.

I often remind the Chicken Littles that there is no indisputable, settled scientific fact. Science is constantly questioning what is known and seeking to disprove it. It is the essence of science to be skeptical (sceptical, for our friends in the UK).

Ukraine crisis: US runs the show
in Kiev, says Sergei Lavrov
BBC News [UK], by Staff    Original Article

Mr Lavrov told Russia Today it was "quite telling" that Kiev had re-launched its anti-terror operation against pro-Russian gunmen during a visit by US Vice-President Joe Biden. Kiev and the West say Moscow commands the gunmen - claims denied by Russia. In the past month, pro-Russian militants have overrun several cities in the eastern Donetsk region. They have occupied public buildings and installed their own officials, in similar tactics to those used to take over the Ukrainian region of Crimea earlier in the year. The US had earlier demanded that Moscow must publicly call for pro-Russian gunmen to lay down their weapons and

The top aide to a congresswoman in her California district sits in jail awaiting sentencing for the drunk-driving hit-and-run death of a 27-year-old woman whose parents are now suing the lawmaker, blaming her for failing to vet the staffer--who had two DUIs in 2006 and 2007, and a 2010 grand theft conviction--before she hired him. Their daughter´s killer, they say, was officially on the job the night of December 6, gladhanding in Rep. Lois Capps´ stead at a private holiday party thrown by a local newspaper. Capps, a 76-year-old Democrat, is named along with the U.S. government in a wrongful

While America’s wealthiest citizens continue to outpace their global peers, the country’s middle class has lost its long held distinction of being the most affluent in the world according to new research. Although economic growth in the United States continues to be as strong as in many other countries--or stronger--only a small percentage of American households are fully benefiting from it, according to the LIS analysis. Based on surveys conducted over the past 35 years, income across the lower--and middle-income tiers of American society has plateaued over that time, while citizens in other advanced countries have received considerably larger rises.

Vice President Joe Biden warned on Tuesday ´it´s time for Russia to stop talking and start acting´ to reduce tension in Ukraine. Standing alongside acting Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk in Kiev, Ukraine, Biden called on Moscow to encourage masked, pro-Russia separatists in eastern Ukraine to vacate illegally occupied government buildings and checkpoints, accept amnesty and ´address their grievances politically.´ ´We have been clear that more proactive behavior by Russia will lead to more costs and greater isolation,´ the Vice President said. Biden said Russia needs to act ´without delay,´ adding, ´We will not allow this to become an open-ended

Ukraine´s acting president has relaunched military operations against pro-Russian militants in the east after two men, one a local politician, were found "tortured to death". [Snip] "The terrorists who effectively took the whole Donetsk region hostage have now gone too far," he said. The move came as US Vice-President Joe Biden was visiting Ukraine. As he met Ukrainian leaders in Kiev, Mr Biden called on Russia to "stop talking and start acting" to defuse the Ukraine crisis. The US and the West accuse Russia of using undercover military to back separatists in eastern Ukraine, where public buildings are occupied in at least

Some will seize on this as proof that Americans are credulous and anti-scientific, but I´d draw the opposite conclusion. The survey--insofar as it can be taken seriously: only just over 1000 people were consulted--suggests how remarkably resilient Americans are in the face of relentless environmental brainwashing. [Snip] But according to this survey, only 33 percent are buying it--while another 37 percent remain thoroughly unconvinced. In the survey, respondents were asked how confident they were in a range of scientific statements. The ones in which they had fullest confidence were: Smoking causes cancer--82 percent extremely/very confident. Inside our cells there is a

Could the Republicans

Sean Parker, the counter-culture pioneer who founded Napster and made a fortune from Facebook, has been quietly meeting politicians and strategists in Washington DC with a view to donating cash to… the Republican party. [Snip] I think it comes down to what one entrepreneur said to me when Brendan Eich was pushed out of Mozilla: "You can offend the liberals in Silicon Valley, or the libertarians, but you can´t offend both, because everyone is one or the other". That´s the key--there´s a rich vein of libertarianism running through the Silicon Valley tech community that´s infuriated by the increasingly statist Democrats.

The Obama administration is poised to entertain a flood of new clemency applications from thousands of federal prisoners who were given harsh sentences under mandatory-minimum laws following drug convictions, Attorney General Eric Holder said Monday. Holder said in a short videotaped statement that he wants to shrink the federal prison population by a modest amount while ensuring ´that those who have paid their debts have a chance to become productive citizens.´ At the center of the move is a set of old sentencing rules that punished crack-cocaine offenders with more time behind bars than users or traffickers of powder cocaine.

Former Sen. Bob Dole (R-Kan.) said a number of junior GOP senators considering a presidential run in 2016 do not yet have the experience — specifically naming Rand Paul (Ky.), Marco Rubio (Fla.) and Ted Cruz (Texas). The former 1996 GOP presidential candidate sounded particularly skeptical of Cruz in an interview this week with The Wichita Eagle. "A number of the younger members, first-termers like Rand Paul, Rubio and that extreme-right-wing guy, Ted Cruz — all running for president now. I don´t think they´ve got enough experience yet," Dole said. The 90-year-old former senator said, however, his main concern about 2016 is living

If Jeb reaches for the nomination, there will be a titanic battle between the party establishment and the Tea Party. Steve Schmidt, McCain’s strategist in 2008, insists that in the end Republicans usually settle on the most electable candidate. To get by, this Bush may be forced to trim his positions, although the cautionary tale of Romney suggests that he would have to tack artfully and carefully for the sake of the general election. Certainly he will have the resources to outlast, discredit, and disqualify his rivals.

Washington - Michelle Obama said "splurging is the key to life" if you regularly eat right and stay active. Her biggest guilty pleasure: French fries. "How would you appreciate vegetables if you never had chocolate?" she asked. "You couldn´t live without a little chocolate, a little French fries." The first lady took questions from children reporters Monday after appearing at the White House Easter Egg Roll. She told the children that if they eat right the majority of the time, then a splurge or snack is not going to hurt them. "I still splurge when I can, but that's why I try to exercise almost every day," she said.

Fraud runs rampant in Census Bureau

There’s a pattern of falsifying statistics throughout the entire Census Bureau. And anyone who attempts to blow the whistle on the fraud is either retaliated against or ignored, according to two new sources who have experienced the process firsthand. As I’ve been writing for more than six months, the Census Bureau office in Philadelphia uncovered a case of fraud in 2010, did nothing about it and allowed the practice to continue. In that instance, a data collector named Julius Buckmon was faking reports that went into the nation’s all-important jobless tally and consumer-inflation survey. Because the Census Bureau’s surveys are scientific — meaning

New audio reveals an Eastern Connecticut State University professor warning that Republicans will “want things to go back — not to to 1955, but to 1855? if they win control of Congress in November. Republican victories could also put him out of a job, he cautioned. “We will live in a very, very, very different kind of country if that happens,” Professor Brent Terry told students in his Introduction to Creative Writing course, according to audio obtained by Campus Reform. “I mean, colleges will start closing up if these people have their way.” Over the course of his rant, Terry characterized conservatives

The Citizens Commission on Benghazi, a self-selected group of former top military officers, CIA insiders and think-tankers, declared Tuesday in Washington that a seven-month review of the deadly 2012 terrorist attack has determined that it could have been prevented – if the U.S. hadn´t been helping to arm al-Qaeda militias throughout Libya a year earlier. ´The United States switched sides in the war on terror with what we did in Libya, knowingly facilitating the provision of weapons to known al-Qaeda militias and figures,´ Clare Lopez, a member of the commission and a former CIA officer, told MailOnline. She blamed the Obama administration
