| If the tax debate could be simplified to a liberal desire to make sure the tax burden is borne by those who can most easily afford it and a conservative desire to keep taxes as low as possible on as many people as possible, the fiscal-cliff bargain that was struck between Mitch McConnell and Joe Biden over the last 48 hours — a bargain that could still fail to pass the House, but probably won’t — seems to offer something credible to both sides. Those 1960s Democrats who did raise taxes on the middle class must be green with envy. ´Bracket Creep´ is one big issues that made American taxpayers feel the pain of excessive government spending.
But LBJ Democrats could have done like Obama and spent hundreds of billions more and simply not ever pay for it. Of course we´d already be at 3rd world status by now if that had happened.

Wouldn´t have read the article if I had realized it was the Slimes. What goes unmentioned is the 30 billion to extend the emergency unemployment insurance and the 27 billion for Obama Stimulus payment to the working poor. Both are major disincentives to seek more or better work.

OK, I´ll go along with the tax burden laid onto the ones who can afford it most, BUT the spending cuts should be laid onto the other 99% who receive benefits!!!

This guy has a totally sick vision of a society. He is trying to figure out how to keep stealing from the productive in order to maintain doles to the for-whatever-reason unproductive. What society of any species of social animals could succeed with that model? And who wants to live in that gray, drudging world anyway?

I´ll admit I could get past the first half dozen paragraphs, but I scanned the rest: no where did I see where the "revenue" from this tax would fund 0bama´s spending for, what, a month? or less?
Raising taxes will not make a dent in the debt or the deficit. Growth is the only possible chance (and an increasingly slim one) and tax cuts ensure that growth won´t happen.

The Obama administration has no business rummaging through journalists’ phone records, perusing their e-mails and tracking their movements in an attempt to keep them from gathering news. This heavy-handed business isn’t chilling, it’s just plain cold. It also may well be unconstitutional. In my reading, the First Amendment prohibition against “abridging the freedom .?.?. of the press” should rule out secretly obtaining two months’ worth of the personal and professional phone records of Associated Press reporters and editors, including calls to and from the main AP phone number at the House press gallery in the Capitol

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Stuart Varney said this morning on "Varney & Co." that one of his producers was given a questionnaire with some surprisingly intrusive questions on it when he switched doctors. One of the questions was whether he/she was concerned about unsecured weapons in the home. Another asked whether he/she was "in a relationship in which you have been physically hurt or are you afraid of your partner?" Judge Andrew Napolitano explained that the question about guns comes out of a post-Sandy Hook executive order by President Obama, but it will be required under Obamacare. Varney expressed amazement
