| Facing the near-certainty that they would miss the midnight deadline for averting sweeping tax hikes, Senate lawmakers on Monday nevertheless edged closer to a potential deal that could undo most of the damage -- presuming Congress approves it. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell said on the floor Monday afternoon that "we´re very, very close" to a deal. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell is the "minority" leader. This must first be done by Boehner, the "leader" of the House. So, who is running this show behind the curtains? And why? where is the rest of Congress? Either way, it stinks.
There should be NO short stopgap deal. Either we go over the cliff together, or cave to the dRATS...again.

Here´s what will happen. Obama will offer no substantial cuts in spending. Nada. McConnell will agree and send it to Boehner. Boehner will fall on the sword and agree to it without a vote by the House. I hope I´m wrong.

All this talk and hoopla about going over a "fiscal cliff" is nothing more than a smoke screen or diversion. It´s being used to cover up the massive tax increases already planned in the Obama care health care plan. Look out people, hold on to your wallet DC is coming after everything we have.

If Obama was seriously caring about the American people, would he have written an executive order giving a governing body with a 12% approval rating by Americans a raise? Does Joe Biden REALLY need a raise?

Brace yourself to swallow an obamacare pill.It looks to me they dumped Boehner as the lead dog on this,probably because of the optics he presents(being drunk on the job).A more sober McConnell is marginally more credible but the results will be the same. Obama wins.
It´s a false victory really,because people in the 450K class and above will invent new ways to duck the additional tax and Obama will carve tons of people out when the bill is signed.The tax increase is to satisfy his fringe base who think they´ll get a piece of the tax increase pie.
The Obama lie machine continues to say the economy has turned the corner and in the next breath push for unemployment extensions.

Now, Obama announces that regardless of what they´re doing to resolve the current crisis, he wants MORE tax cuts next year. This has angered many in the GOP who were ready to go along with the current deal. What a goatrope.

New York - Police say a gunman used anti-gay slurs before fatally shooting a 32-year-old man in New York City´s Greenwich (GREN´-ich) Village. Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said Saturday that the shooting, which occurred just after midnight, appears to have been a hate crime. Kelly says the gunman was seen urinating on the street outside a bar. The lawmaker leading the charge to investigate the Benghazi terror attack on Friday subpoenaed the co-author of a report that slammed the State Department but didn´t interview Hillary Clinton. House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) formally demanded that retired ambassador Thomas Pickering submit to being deposed by the committee next Thursday. The subpoena comes in the wake of a series of acrimonious public exchanges this week between the two men. Issa didn´t issue a subpoena to former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Michael Mullen, who co-authored the Benghazi report with Pickering.
