A caller identified as Lawrence from the Bronx, New York, asked C-SPAN guest Brendan Doherty Saturday whether he believed the constitution could be amended so that President Obama could run for three terms. If that wouldn’t be possible, Lawrence continued, could the Democrats “overwhelmingly” take back the House in 2014? Doherty recently authored, “The Rise Of The President’s Permanent Campaign,” a book that examines whether a President’s time spent campaigning can be separated from time spent governing in recent years. He fielded the caller’s question as best as he could, answering honestly, “The prospect of amending the Constitution

Spot on, Cat. If nothing else, the last election cycle proves you can´t lose betting on the stupidity of the general population...

...as aptly demonstrated by Lawrence from the Bronx...

Obama hasn´t done *anything* but ´campaign´ all of his adult life - and taxpayers have footed the bill for this non-stop ego fest.

Why bother amending? So fussy.

Another feather in the cap of public education.

No doubt Lawrence from the Bronx knows every detail about Malcolm X - much less about Andrew Jackson or James Watt.

Obama already amended the constitution.

I think Michelle is using the shredded pieces as stuffing for a throw pillow.

All he needs is an executive order, no? At least Bloomberg in NYC had the sense to have his coronation approved by the NYC politicos in his pocket.

Who wasn´t expecting this? But it came too early, since we all still have our guns legally.

Fortunately amendments must be ratified by individual states, not by general popular vote. I am sure there are some states which would support repealing the 22nd Amendment, but I don´t think they would be enough. But I´m sure they´ll try anyway.

Congress, the Senate and the President in a first term ALL are in permanent campaign mode. That´s why nothing ever gets done. They are always thinking of the next primary and election and never of what´s best for the country.

Sure, the 22nd Amendment could be repealed if the majority of states wished to do that. But it would take years to do and never would be done by 2016 and even if that were possible it would be written so as not to include the 2016 election. Not going to happen. This whole ´Obama will be President for life´ scare is ridiculous.

On top of everything else, I read that he´s in progress to sell the mansion in Chicago sometime in 2013 and declare Hawaii his ´home.´ I guess this means a four million dollar AF-1 ride every holiday or long weekend.
( Plus the separate 757 for Mooch and kids. They might want to stay an extra day.)

Sure the Constitution can be amended -- it even tells you how to do it. Just get 2/3 of each house of Congress to support the amendment, along with at least 38 states, and it´s a done deal.

If they were to amend the Constitution regarding Presidential terms, they should back it off to only one five year term with no possibility for re-election. That would keep the President in the White House doing his or her job, instead of running all around the country campaigning for a couple of years to get re-elected.

Things could hardly have broken better for Republicans these last few weeks -- a trio of scandals, all combining to embarrass the Obama administration at the same time. But now, a growing number of Republicans are worried their party will screw it up. For every cry of "impeachment," there´s a louder cry from the GOP establishment not to get too far ahead of themselves, at least not yet. Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus says he´s not worried about a "political strategy," instead he´s "concerned with" the same thing "the American people are concerned with," which is "just getting to

A Navy dolphin training to look for mines off the coast of San Diego found a museum-worthy 19th-century torpedo on the seafloor, military officials said. The brass-coated, retro wonder of technology was one of the first self-propelled torpedoes used by the U.S. Navy. Just 50 of these so-called Howell torpedoes were made and only one other example has been recovered; it sits in the Naval Undersea Museum in Keyport, Wash., outside of Seattle. The 130-year-old, 11-foot-long weapon was discovered back in March during a mine-hunting exercise that the Space and Naval warfare Systems Center Pacific (SSC Pacific) was conducting with bottlenose dolphins.

The Army said under the Military Code of Justice, Hasan’s salary cannot be suspended unless he is proven guilty. If Hasan had been a civilian defense department employee, NBC 5 Investigates has learned, the Army could have suspended his pay after just seven days. Not since George Wallace, perhaps, has an Alabamian taken as passionate a stand for a lost cause as the one Jeff Sessions is taking now. Bipartisan immigration legislation is making its way inexorably through the Senate Judiciary Committee. Although its ultimate fate is unclear, its passage by the committee is assured, and conservatives on the panel such as ranking Republican Chuck Grassley (Iowa) and Orrin Hatch (Utah) are doing what they can to improve the bill. Even firebrands such as Ted Cruz (Tex.) and Mike Lee (Utah) are holding fire. Then there’s Sessions. The wiry Southerner is on a one-man

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:
