Fury as statue of HITLER

A modern artist has caused huge controversy after placing a statue of Adolf Hitler praying on his knees in the former Warsaw Ghetto. Some Jewish groups have expressed fury at the ´senseless´ decision to install the provocative artwork in the area where thousands of Jews were forced to live during the rule of the Nazi regime. In total, around 300,000 Jews from the Ghetto died or were sent to their death in concentration camps. The statue by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan, entitled ´HIM´, has attracted a large number of visitors since its installation last month.

This is so offensive. It seems that people now don´t care if they offend anyone. It is almost like some like to throw things in peoples faces just to get a reaction. Who ever this guy Cattelan is he is no artist he is a disgusting piece of filth.

If it´s offensive, it must be art. The problem is not with the artist, but with us, the poor observers, who are unable to appreciate the nuances. And if it upsets a Holocaust survivor or two, what´s that to those who have a higher calling?

it´s all done in the name of art, dontchaknow. At the same time, the only way this ´´statue´´ can be seen is thru a hole in a door. you cannot see the front/face so from the back it appears to be a small child. don´t know if that´s any less offensive, but there it is...

Well the artist achieved his goal so kudos to him. Offensive? How so? As bad art, yes, as a political statement, quite successful, and in a positive way. I don´t think this will gain H. any followers...

Maybe I am odd, but I think it is more thought-provoking than offensive. It reminds us that people can use the pretense of religiosity to carry out evil deeds.

As sick and disgusting as the "art" is, I find it more disgusting that the politicians there allowed this thing to be installed in the first place! The artist should be able to make whatever he wants, but that doesn´t mean that stupid city officials should put it on display!!!"´

"A small praying child" does not sport a mustache or wear a suit. Who are we kidding ?

I think the problem is that these prima donna artist have never seen hardship or lived in a time of war, only instant gratification and adulation. Heaven forbid somebody whack them upside the head and say "What the h-ll were you thinking ?"

Shame on whoever allowed this to be installed.

Washington Free Beacon [DC], by Elizabeth Harrington    Original Article

Sen. John Cornyn (R., Texas) is demanding answers from Attorney General Eric Holder on the Justice Department’s pursuit of “smart gun” technology, warning that the government could require all gun owners to wear biometric bracelets to operate their firearms. Cornyn sent a letter to the attorney general on Wednesday in response to remarks he made in testimony before a House subcommittee earlier this month, which were first reported by the Washington Free Beacon. Holder said his agency is “exploring” technology to make guns “more safe.” “By making them either through finger print identification, the gun talks to a bracelet or

An army of NYPD cops on Thursday evicted a homeless man from his Manhattan Bridge “home” — which was complete with a gas heater, hot sauce and beer. A dozen officers from both the 5th and 84th Precincts plus four Emergency Service Unit cops launched the raid about 9:50 a.m. A DOT worker on a ladder first used bolt cutters to remove a red bicycle lock on the wooden structure — which turned out to be fully insulated with Styrofoam and a large tarp. “Police department! Police department!” cops yelled, but got no reply, so ESU officers used a saw

NATO announced Wednesday that it is enhancing its military footprint on its eastern flank, and the alliance’s top military commander in Europe hinted that in light of Russia’s recent aggression, it is “important that we take a pause and determine what is appropriate for [the size of] U.S. forces in Europe.” The number of U.S. troops in Europe has dropped dramatically since the Soviet Union collapsed. More recently, the Obama administration has touted its “pivot” to Asia. Supreme Allied Commander Europe Gen. Philip Breedlove, a U.S. Air Force general, was asked if the number of U.S. forces stationed in Europe should

With total student loans exceeding $1 trillion, one must ask “is the tassel worth the financial hassle” when it comes to spending for prestigious colleges. Here’s my rough rule of thumb for taking on student loan debt: “Think long and hard about taking on more in total student loans than you expect to earn, on average, in your first 10 years after graduating.” That’s a mouthful so let me put some numbers on it. If you expect your average annual income over the first 10 years you are out of school to be $50,000, be really, really careful about taking

SANTA FE, N.M. —A national political magazine has released secret audio recordings of Gov. Susana Martinez, and it’s causing quite a reaction both here in New Mexico as well as across the country.Mother Jones penned an article recently that asked if Martinez was the next Sarah Palin. The article featured several recordings of the governor. Some believe what Martinez is heard saying could jeopardize her political aspirations. The recordings were published by Mother Jones, who said they’re from four years ago. The reporter said his article sheds light on a side of Martinez the public has never seen before, a

When it comes to tracking the cost of Obama family vacations, there are two primary challenges. First, the Obamas are prolific jet-setters, so there are many details to track. Second, the Obama administration, clearly embarrassed by these lavish and frequent family vacations, stonewalls the release of records at every turn. But we have been relentless in pursuit of this information. Our attorneys file the lawsuits and make our case, and our investigators pour through pages of records and crunch the numbers. And the information we’ve uncovered – information that would otherwise remain under lock and key – shows that the

Vice President Joe Biden really did get ahead of President Barack Obama on accepting gay marriage in 2012 — and the White House really wasn’t happy about it, despite the two leaders’ many attempts to claim otherwise. That’s the story laid out in Jo Becker’s new book, “Forcing the Spring,” which documents the past few years of successful efforts to expand the legalization of gay marriage, according to an advance copy obtained by POLITICO. Speculation that Biden’s comments on “Meet the Press” in May 2012 were meant as a trial balloon, Becker writes, came from people “not privy to the

Like him or hate him, there is no disputing that Rush Limbaugh’s very special brand of mixing right-wing politics with his flare for entertainment has produced one of the most successful radio programs in the medium’s long history. Whatever the burning political question of the day, millions of Americans have relished the opportunity to tune into Rush’s program, knowing that he would quickly take that hot potato, throw a few gallons of verbal kerosene into the mix and elevate the matter into a five alarm fire with a just a few well-chosen words spoken in the style only Rush Limbaugh could

Less than a minute into his speech at the Boston marathon bombing memorial on Tuesday, Vice President Joe Biden went tragically off script and told the crowd of Boston bombing survivors that "it was worth it." After expressing how impressed he was with the tribute, he said somberly, "let me say to those ´quote survivors,´ my God, you have survived and you have soared. It was worth it. I mean this sincerely - just to hear each of you speak. You´re truly, truly inspiring." The audience sat in stunned silence until Biden declared, "I´ve never heard anything so beautiful than

Casual marijuana use may come with some not-so-casual side effects. For the first time ever, researchers at Northwestern University have analyzed the relationship between casual use of marijuana and brain changes – and found that young adults who used cannabis just once or twice a week showed significant abnormalities in two important brain structures. The study’s findings, to be published Wednesday in the Journal of Neuroscience, are similar to those of past research linking chronic, long-term marijuana use with mental illness and changes in brain development. Dr. Hans Breiter, co-senior study author, said he was inspired to look at the effects of casual

Look, everyone loves Sean Connery, particularly Sean Connery. That’s why he plays Sean Connery in every movie he’s in. People love that Scottish brogue so much, they don’t mind that he has it when he plays Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez, an immortal Spaniard in Highlander. The guy even won an Oscar for playing an Irish cop with a Scottish accent. Talk about sexist double standards: Meryl Streep has to master foreign dialects to get her golden statuettes. Connery just has to show up on time. In economics you devalue a currency by printing too much of it. In film you

Toddlers show racial bias when picking playmates, a study reveals. They also take account of how fairly others behave. Researchers tested the reaction of white 15-month-olds as toys were distributed. Two white adults divided the toys, one equally and the other unequally. Seventy per cent of the toddlers chose to play with the researcher who distributed the toys fairly. But in a second test, when one researcher favoured a white recipient over an Asian one, they picked the ‘fair’ researcher less often, the journal Frontiers in Psychology reports. And the babies are more likely to help those who share the same ethnicity, which is known as

I live in Las Vegas. I live and breath Nevada politics. Something is very wrong. Something smells rotten in the Nevada desert. And Senator Harry Reid’s fingerprints are all over it. I am of course referring to the Bundy Ranch siege. This was a dispute between a Nevada ranching family with rights to the land in question for 140 years and the BLM (Bureayu of Land Management). The government claims they haven’t paid grazing fees for 20 years. The result was a government assault on the ranch- including snipers with assault rifles, SUV’s, helicopters, airplanes and over 200 heavily armed troops. No
