I´ve never eaten a nugget in my life.I haven´t eaten meat for quite a while now but even before that,I wasn´t to to eat unknown parts of chicken covered by batter.

There was a time I loved Vienna sausages until one day I read the label and it said machine picked chicken parts. Ugh.

I am a meat eater. Never eat nuggets of anything. Grass fed beef, occasional pork, and unfortunately lots of chicken.

God help us if they start making beef nuggets and pork nuggets.

Nuggets: That´s when you take a whole lot of separate chickens and assemble their respective parts.

The food police followed by the thought police. Now we have the second amendment police too.

Thank you but at my age, I surely don´t need a nanny.

And how could I forget the Big Gulp police.

An excellent article that identifies a problem (starvation and malnutrition in the Depression), highlights the protagonist who recognizes the need (Cornell University Poultry Science Professor Robert C Baker), and creates a solution that is economically viable (the processed chicken "nugget").

I am wary of the food snobs who may not like the product that he created, the environmental-ninnies who have questions about the failure to execute its production to their impossible standards of perfection, and the pseudo-sophistication that one displays when disparaging the product.

Please enjoy the article about a man who saw a problem and generously found the solution. If you have qualms about a "McNugget" then go to the supermarket and buy the unbreaded bag frozen bite-sized, high protein, low-fat meat product to make a convenient nutritious meal to your liking. I´m a fan of an occasional chicken nugget, but I´m picky about where I get them. All nuggets aren´t equal.

A beef and pork nugget does exist. It is called a hot dog.

Allow me to annoy some of my fellow L-dotters, I always buy frozen chicken nuggets at the grocery store--the cheaper, the better.

My precious, little, long-haired pooch is allergic to beef. He loves chicken nuggets with whole grain brown rice!

It´s a fun read about food history, which I always enjoy because I collect old cook books. It is true that as recently as WW2, cutting up a chicken for frying was more labor intensive & time consuming because you had to do most of it yourself. During the depression, my Grandma had a little side business where she did everything from the neck-wringing to having it cut up, bagged & ready to fry. She had a lot of friends & neighbors for customers & made a little money, too. Side note: I´ve seen the videos of McDonald´s customers throwing fits & fighting with the counter help when they didn´t get their nuggets. I thought they must be really delicious, so I recently tried them. Meh...I´ll stick to my own fried chicken!

We humans are a funny bunch. McNuggets give me the creeps but I readily eat hot dogs and sausage which are certainly the same type product (not to mention all of the above using turkey).

I doubt there is any thing rational to most of our quirks.

Never want to see nuggets or a legislation made. At least a nugget taste good.
