| Politicians in Washington have spent the better part of the past two months advancing a myth that is undermining one of the most important public policy debates in recent memory. It’s a myth that is coming at the expense of solutions based on common sense that could return us to balance and fiscal stability. Twenty-six years ago, President Reagan implemented significant tax reforms that lowered the individual income tax rate, limited deductions and brought equality to tax rates across all levels.

Our problem, i mean, "our" problem, that is to say Conservatives who love the Republic, is the so-called mainstream media.
This conglomeration of propaganda outlets --"news" and entertainment, more often than not, for the uncurious and ignorant masses, blurred together-- have quite a lot of power to define, mold and shape the debates, such as they are. The Dem/Left utilizes these organizations freely, and vice versa.
Republicans have not figured this out yet. They still think that there´s such a thing as "journalism" being practiced by the MSM. They keep playing by the old rules; they keep investing trust in the old media; they keep shunning and distrusting the new media BECAUSE the Dem/Left does.
Rep. Issa has been a steady force for rational thought in Congress. He is soft-spoken, but he´s unrelenting. May he remain indefatigble.

Although I appreciate the tree falling in a forest where no one is around to hear it sentiments Mr. Issa, your op-ed will not change a darn thing. Please spend your energy, time and focus on accountability issues you have been honored to oversee such as...oh, Fast and Furious to name one of dozens.
Please understand sir that once the liars and thieves see and truly believe that there is accountability and consequences for their lying and thieving ways that the they may be a little more controlled and dare I say honest with their conduct and responsibilities.

CARACAS, Venezuela Venezuela´s biggest food company on Monday hit back at President Nicolas Maduro´s claims that it´s to blame for the country´s persistent food shortages. The chief executive of Empresas Polar, Lorenzo Mendoza, rejected accusations by the president that the company has reduced production and is hoarding products to create scarcity. "The accusations that we are producing less than last year are false," Mendoza told reporters. "I presume that President Nicolas Maduro is not well informed about the situation and about what´s happening."

Venezuela in 2012 became a net importer of gasoline as a result of escalating problems at its refineries and increasing demand for fuel in its internal market, joining a growing list of countries that struggle with fuel supplies despite ample oil reserves. Venezuela exported 30,000 barrels per day (bpd) of gasoline and naphtha last year, according to state oil company PDVSA annual report. But it imported an average of 66,300bpd of the same fuels from the US alone, according to US energy department data.

WASHINGTON - There were new questions Saturday night concerning if anyone in the White House was aware of the IRS´ targeting of conservative groups. Inspector General Russell George said he informed a deputy at the Treasury Department in June of 2012 about the probe into the IRS. The Treasury Department confirmed the timeline but said they did not know the details of the investigation until last week.(Snip)Marcus Owens ran the tax-exempt division at the IRS for 10 years. He said it isn´t difficult to figure out who´s doing what at the agency.

It began in earnest last Friday. A flash mob of latte drinking, tofu eating media that has done its best to quell, rather than fan the flames of truth, turned on one of their own. Jay Carney lay bludgeoned at the base of the podium, a victim of friendly fire. Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice." "We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate." Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation´s deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation´s debt cap.
