One of the most ridiculous public figures of our age, Sean Penn, should have great utility for conservatives. He exemplifies the incoherence of the Hollywood Left, and doesn´t know when to keep his mouth shut. Even better, he thinks that he can write - that his stream of consciousness, when transcribed, makes sense, and is even persuasive.(snip)The Alynskyite Left has long used the careless words of conservatives they wish to demonize as an effective tool in creating a negative brand identity for their opponents
I thought the photo below was interesting. I wonder if some of the White House photo restrictions are to avoid shots in which it is obvious that Michelle and Barack are not on the same page. They are a fantasy couple to many black women who have no hope of marrying a more successful man -- akin to Diana and Prince Charles among white women who should have known better (most of the professional women I worked with) in the 90s.
The Detroit News is really upset about how its readers talk about race. (snip) The readers are so off-message about commenting on race at the MLive website that the newspaper felt it needed to post rules about how comply with the racial guidelines: How to discuss racial issues on MLive without violating the Community Rules. First, if you see one of the daily stories about black history month or the black museum or whatever, and you wonder in the comments sections why there is no counterpart for white or Asian or Amish people, you will be removed. That is a "false equivalence,"
"Nice little insurance company you´ve got there. Be a shame if anything happened to it." In essence, that´s the message just delivered to the health care insurance industry. Panicking, they´re just making it up as they go along, under pressure of the December 23rd deadline for enrollment in Obamacare in order to be covered in 2014. In an ill-considered move, the Department of Health and Human Services contravened the law and vaguely threatened ("strongly encouraged") the health insurance industry in order to assuage some of the injuries done by the poor design and incompetent administration of Obamacare.
Does MSNBC know that one of its hosts is receiving large amounts of money form an interest group whose political activities he covers? Does the network have any journalistic ethics guidelines at all? Elisha Krauss of truthrevolt.org presents the results of a search of Department of Labor archives showing the amounts of money Schultz has received from politically active organizations he covers: Schultz received at least $177,000 from labor unions in 2012; the average median income for an American family is around $44,000 a year. This year alone the DOL shows Schultz has been paid $75,000 by the AFL-CIO; just yesterday AFL-CIO Richard
How much in actual health care could have been paid for with the taxpayer amounts currently being spent on developing websites for people to sign up for health insurance plans they aren´t happy with?. Consider Oregon. According to the most recent numbers from the Kaiser Foundation the average cost of one day of in patient hospital care in Oregon was $2,967. Oregon has 36 hospitals with a total of 5916 beds, $300 million in state and federal funds used for Oregon to build its website. would pay for 101,112 days of hospitalization - enough to fill every hospital bed in Oregon
The liberal media starts to take the measure of a media figure they must be afraid of. Make that very, very afraid. Dan Zak of the Washington Post has a long and interesting article on Megyn Kelly, whose new show on Fox News Channel has become a major hit (snip)My gut instinct tells me that a media career, however successful, will not be the end point of Megyn Kelly´s professional achievement. In fact, I faintly recall that once upon a time there was a media figure with incredible charisma, intensity, and likability who decided that the nation needed conservative politics
The introduction of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), as revealed by the roll-out of HealthCare.gov, is an epic public embarrassment, living up to predictions of a train wreck. We´re watching government at its most harmful and ineffectual. This is not rocket science -- no risky new technology is required; no laws of physics have to be invented or repealed. While the technology itself may present some challenges, problems like this more often than not stem from poor leadership, discipline, and accountability. We were privileged to spend our careers on a team responsible for the Aegis Combat System, a complex, mission
New York — The anchor who might beat Bill O’Reilly gets her eyelash extensions applied one at a time, with tweezers and dabs of glue, about 90 minutes before showtime, right after a motorized gun sprays foundation over her face, neck, shoulders, collarbone and sternum, wiping out a galaxy of light freckles that spreads across her — Let me stop you right there. Photos of the day Uruguay legalizes marijuana, Kiev police pull back from protesters, aging U.S. prison population and more. Tuesday´s Photos of the day Would you write this way about a man? About O’Reilly himself? At least that’s what Megyn Kelly might ask at
In August 2013 I became very sick with what I thought was a cold. After a few days I lost vision in my left eye and I checked into the hospital. I soon found out that what I thought was a summer cold was actually Strep bacteria poisoning my blood stream. The bacteria blinded my left eye, ate a hole through my heart, caused five strokes on both sides of my brain and forced the removal of my prosthetic left knee. Dr. Lee was the surgeon assigned to perform open heart surgery. What was originally scheduled to last four hours ended
The health director who approved the release of President Obama’s birth certificate has died in a plane crash, Hawaiian officials said Thursday. Loretta Fuddy died after the Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft she was travelling on went down shortly after leaving Kalaupapa Airport at around 3:15 p.m. local time (10:15 a.m. ET) on Wednesday. The other eight people on board were rescued, Richard Schuman, president of Makani Kai Air, told NBC News early Thursday, adding that that there was no indication as to why the plane had crashed. Fuddy hit the headlines two years ago when she approved a waiver request allowing Obama to
Fox News host Megyn Kelly has made herself the center of a racial controversy by declaring that Jesus Christ and Santa Claus are white. On Wednesday night, Kelly was responding to an article by Slate writer Aisha Harris, who wrote an article entitled “ Santa Claus Should Not Be a White Man Anymore .” The popular news host told viewers of “The Kelly File,” her hit FNC program, “When I saw this headline, I kinda laughed and I said, ‘Oh, this is ridiculous. Yet another person claiming it´s racist to have a white Santa.’ And by the way, for all you kids
Views of the tea party are at all-time lows in a new poll, as primary challenges to establishment Republicans continue to heat up Washington. Just 30 percent of Americans view the tea party favorably in a new Gallup poll released Wednesday, the movement’s lowest point since Gallup began polling about it during its rise in 2010. Also in a first, a majority of Americans had an unfavorable view of the tea party, at 51 percent. Similar numbers of respondents described themselves as proponents or opponents of the tea party: Twenty-two percent identified themselves as tea party supporters, while 24 percent said they
Columnist Charles Krauthammer attacked new Obamacare rules unveiled by HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius in a late Thursday conference call, saying the Obama administration is “approach[ing] banana republic lawlessness” by issuing the decrees. Krauthammer spoke with Fox News’ Bret Baier on a panel with Juan Williams and Judge Andrew Napolitano, as the three reacted to Sebelius’ new directives for insurance companies. “This is exactly a reaction to a deep understanding among Democrats that [Obamacare] is a train wreck,” he said. “And it’s a panic reaction. As the judge said, this is utterly lawless. This now approaches banana republic lawlessness.
WASHINGTON – It’s not exactly a ringing endorsement of the budget deal.“Embrace the suck,” House minority leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi told fellow Democrats Thursday morning, a source told Politico.“We need to get this off the table so we can go forward,” she added. It’s a way of telling her colleagues the budget deal negotiated with Republicans is the best they can get. Democrats are fuming that the bipartisan budget deal doesn’t extend unemployment benefits for more than a million Americans. One of Pelosi’s top lieutenants, Rep. Chris Van Hollen, the top Democrat on the House Budget Committee, said Thursday it
