Fearful of ban, frenzied
buyers swarm gun stores

NEW YORK — The phones at Red´s Trading Post wouldn´t stop ringing. Would-be customers from as far away as New York wanted to know if the Twin Falls, Idaho gun shop had firearms in stock. Others clamored to find out if their orders had been shipped. Overwhelmed, gun store manager Ryan Horsley had to do what no employee would ever think of doing just days before Christmas: He disconnected the phone lines for three whole days. "We had to shut everything off," says Horsley, whose family has owned Red´s Trading Post, the state´s oldest gun shop, since 1936.

And just try to take them away....

My friend Gomer Pyle would say, "surprise, surprise, surprise".

"Frenzied?" Not exactly. "Frenzied" would be liberals elbowing each other to get to their lattes at Starbucks.

Or their brie at Whole Foods.

Just returned from a gun show in Central Florida, place was packed wall to wall, but I saw no frenzie, just polite and well mannered folks picking up "supplies" in an orderly fashion. No news here!

"Frenzied" = potential Adam Lanzas.

Per #2, frenzied would also be blacks beating each other up to get the latest Air Jordans.

I was in Red´s yesterday with a friend, it wasn´t frenzied but busy. Great store, I picked up 1000 rounds of 9mm for $225. Had plenty of guns, you know, the kinds that could look like an assault rifle if they were decked out differently. Handgun sales seemed brisk.

In Idaho, you can buy a handgun and after filling out a little paperwork, walk out the door with your new toy. The hold up for some folks was the background check. The wait on the phone was getting up to an hour. But if you have a CCP, no background check, already done, so it´s pay and out the door.

The ranges were plenty busy with everyone trying out new Christmas toys. Had to wait to get into one of the traps so my friend could try out her new shotgun that her hubby gave her. Grand fun.

Added a Mossberg shotgun to my collection on Thursday. Lots of calm people in the store. Lots of calm people quietly buying. Didn´t see any frenzy.

I bought something to shoot with -- a new camera. It will be useful in exotic lands where I´ll be when the complete collapse of society happens here in the USA.

The only ones "frenzied" are the fruitcake ass-press. The only "swarms" are the fruitcake ass-press.The only agenda-driven sissy maniacs are the ass-press. The only people who LIE to us on a daily basis are the ass-press. Sorry, Pisani, we dont buy into your crappy lies and ridiculously lousy reporting anymore, so stuff it somewhere where it makes you feel good. Twerp!

Thanksgiving weekend I bought a pre-owned 12 gauge at Cabela´s. It was similar to the first new shotgun I had as a young boy of 14. The place was jammed with people, and I waited in line about an hour to pick up the weapon following the background check. Everyone was polite, patient and well-mannered. I chatted amiably and pleasantly with a couple of other gun buyers who were also waiting for completion of the background check. Didn´t notice any "frenzy."

Liberals are unquestionably the most disgusting people I´ve ever known.

Hurray for Reds Trading Post! The feds tried to shut them down a few years ago. Now it looks like they´ll continue to make a decent profit.

Obama has been the best firearm salesman ever.

Americans in a new ABC News/Washington Post poll sharply reject special scrutiny of conservative groups by the Internal Revenue Service, suspect an administration cover-up of the Benghazi incident and express substantial distrust of the federal government more generally. (Snip) Longer-term impacts of contentious current issues remain to be seen, but there´s potential for significant damage to the administration. Americans by a vast 74-20 percent see the IRS´ behavior as inappropriate, with most feeling that way strongly - and 56 percent see it as a deliberate attempt to harass conservative organizations, not a mere administrative error.

A massive tornado ripped through Moore, Okla., Monday afternoon, leveling a huge swath of a residential area in the suburb of Oklahoma City. Video footage from KFOR-TV showed houses, businesses and at least two schools completely demolished, with cars strewn about. Police and emergency crews have begun to respond, but debris has clogged roadways. There is no tally yet on injuries or deaths, but news anchors said significant casualties are expected. At least one large fire has broken out amid the rubble. The twister is already being compared to the May 3, 1999 storm that ripped through Moore

LOS ANGELES - More poor people live in the nation´s suburbs than in urban cities because of affordable housing, service-sector jobs and the increased use of housing vouchers, according to a study released Monday. The number of those in poverty living in suburbs jumped 67 percent between 2000 and 2011, a much larger increase than in cities, researchers for the Brookings Institution said. Suburbs, however, still have a smaller percentage of the poor than cities do. The report notes that poor people were pulled to the suburbs by more affordable homes and followed jobs that were often low paying.

Parking fees fight at
Calif. state beaches heat up

LOS ANGELES -- flocking to Southern California beaches are used to feeding the meter or paying a parking attendant. Not so along the less developed north coast where it´s customary to ditch cars on the shoulder of Highway 1 to surf, swim or picnic. That sandy line that long defined the state´s disparate beach culture may soon fade. In search of new revenue, the state parks system is eyeing parking fees for parts of the Northern California shoreline where none existed or considering hiking rates to visit popular beaches south of Los Angeles during peak periods.

CAIRO — The pale, young Christian woman sat handcuffed in the courtroom, accused of insulting Islam while teaching history of religions to fourth-graders. A team of Islamist lawyers with long beards sang in unison, "All except the Prophet Muhammad." (Snip) Blasphemy charges were not uncommon in Egypt under the now-ousted autocrat Hosni Mubarak´s regime, but there has been a surge in such cases in recent months, according to rights activists. The trend is widely seen as a reflection of the growing power and confidence of Islamists, particularly the ultraconservative Salafis. "Salafis are the engineers of these stories,"

WASHINGTON – The Internal Revenue Serviced scandal today spread further within the White House and closer to President Obama. White House spokesman Jay Carney today disclosed that Obama’s chief of staff, Dennis McDonough, and other top White House officials had advance warning that the IRS was targeting conservative groups. But he insisted McDonough and the other White House officials purposely kept Obama out of the loop.McDonough “rightly chose not to take action” to inform Obama, Carney told reporters at the daily White House briefing.

The Washington Post on Monday reported that Obama’s Department of Justice was investigating journalists before they started wiretapping the Associated Press – for one, Fox News correspondent James Rosen in 2010. Their headline wasn´t "Obama Team Also Spied on Fox News." Fox wasn´t in the headline, on A-1 or on A-12, where the story continued. Newly obtained court documents “reveal how deeply investigators explored the private communications of a working journalist — and raise the question of how often journalists have been investigated as closely as Rosen was in 2010.” Reporter Ann Marimow began:

The wheels came off the Obama administration yesterday. We learned of a startling assault on freedom of the press by the Department of Justice, following the revelation last week of the unprecedented information-gathering foray by that department against The Associated Press. Then, a few minutes later, the Justice Department’s inspector general released a report declaring that the US attorney in Arizona used the leak of a confidential memo to try to discredit a whistleblower in the notorious “gun-walking” scandal known as Fast and Furious (which got two federal agents killed). The leak was called “egregious.”

WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups. Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd. Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee Wednesday.

Stuart Varney said this morning on "Varney & Co." that one of his producers was given a questionnaire with some surprisingly intrusive questions on it when he switched doctors. One of the questions was whether he/she was concerned about unsecured weapons in the home. Another asked whether he/she was "in a relationship in which you have been physically hurt or are you afraid of your partner?" Judge Andrew Napolitano explained that the question about guns comes out of a post-Sandy Hook executive order by President Obama, but it will be required under Obamacare. Varney expressed amazement

While many Americans were tuned into news coverage of the massive damage from tornadoes ravaging the state of Oklahoma, Rhode Island Democratic Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse took to the Senate floor to rail against his Republican colleagues for denying the theory of anthropogenic global warming. Whitehouse spent 15 minutes chastising GOP senators and justified his remarks by alluding to states that seek federal assistance in the wake of natural disasters. “So, you may have a question for me,” Whitehouse said. “Why do you care? Former Democratic National committee chairman Howard Dean considers the controversy over Benghazi a “joke” and “silly.” “Benghazi is a laughable joke,” Dean proclaimed twice in a discussion with Republican National Committee communications chairman Sean Spicer last week. “With all due respect, governor, when four Americans die serving this country, that’s not a joke, sir,” Spicer responded. “Oh, stop it,” said Dean. The former Democratic presidential candidate also said that there were “no serious questions being asked about Benghazi” and brushed it off as an effort by Republicans to score political points.
