Just make sure that the wolves know that they´re only supposed to eat deer, not livestock, pets, etc. Ask the cattle ranchers in Idaho how that reintroduction is working. Open cows, missing newborn calves. The wolves have proven wrong virtually all the assurances such as limited contact with livestock, approaches to human habitations, etc. The indemnity program is a joke.

This is why peoples from an earlier time killed-off the big predators. They are simply not compatible with humanity - it´s them or us and, in a sane world, people choose people.

Kill and eat the deer - leave the wolves on the ´endangered´ list.

Compared to beef, venison, (deer meat), is a delicacy and better nutritionally.

Problem with hunting venison currently is a little thing called lyme disease. Really bad in the NE part of the country. And I have read somewhere in the recent past that there is also a growing problem with mad cow disease in deer. I support hunting in most forms, but not fond of getting a disease that doctors either don´t recognize or can´t treat.

Not sure about the mad cow. I´d check my sources, if I were you, since that sounds like exactly the kind of rumor anti-hunters would start.

When I was a kid in Western Pennsylvania, all the high schools would close on the first day of buck season and the first day of doe season, since so many HS kids went hunting. And lot of families counted on stocking their freezers with venison, cut to order in local butcher shops.

Yu´uns laugh if you will about redneck Allegheny Mountain kids, but a couple hundred dollars´ worth of excellent meat in the freezer is always "worth it."

Venison is considered an aristocrat´s meat in Europe. Maybe they can export it. Deer are just cuter goats.
